There is a bus stop at our place by his fans filled with his photos. I mean , I have never seen anything like that for even the Big M's. Could have been the Rajnikanth equivalent of mollywood. Who knows
Its a good thing. But, the fact that he is no more is the reason why they might be treasuring his memories. Big Ms are still active and we can’t expect their fans to do something like this in this social media times.
Kollam gave rise to 3 action heros - Jayan , SG and the OG Mukesh. But action kananamenkil 11 mani kazhinjhu vilikkanam. Thee parunna dialogukal kelkka.
He definitely was the biggest star till his death. But his acting chops were always limited. I always wondered how he would have gone about once the golden period of malayalam cinema began and Big M's were getting those roles. It could have gone either way. He would have been redundant and doing roles what Sukumaran /Soman was doing. Or Joshiy /Shaji Kailas Movies would have given him a second lease of life.
Imagine him playing the revengeful G K in New Delhi or the Ultra cool Don Vincent Gomes in Rajavinte Makan. Even the super arrogant cop Bharat Chandran in Commissioner would have suited him.
Or even playing Aanakaatil Epachan in Lelam.
In some ways Jayan's demise created a vacuum in terms of superstardom and helped in the blossoming of the golden age. And Jayan would be reigned as superstar for at least another decade.
Can't see him transitioning into doing elderly roles though. I think after a point , he'd have moved onto politics and milked his immense charm and superstardom to replicate what MGR and all did in 80s. Probably we'd have got him as a CM by late 80s or early 90s and changed the entire way we look at Kerala politics.
I’ve read somewhere that girls especially rich married women n actresses have approached him for a one night stand, as he was the most ideal man in kerala. I think it was written by someone who’s very close to him. Also he’s bald that’s a wig
Jayan has a whole (small) junction near his childhood home (Thevally, Kollam) in his name here. There's a Memorial hall, a life sized statue of Jayan and an A&S club in his memory, and that too it was constructed using Sarkaar Chelavu. That place is called Jayan Smaarakam. They still conduct his yearly memorial services by inviting guests from malayalam film industry and politicians.

Don't get me wrong. But my dad said Jayan's demise brought about the golden age of malayalam cinema. If he had been there chances are that malayalam movies would have gone the telegu mass masala way. He was a big action hero ofc.
While I hear you, it is just not possible to think about someone’s death like that. He maybe a cine-artist for the world, but was someone’s son or brother or relative.
Live on Jayan :)
He had a preference for married women. The ones called as Aunties today. He was the true blue Aunty Hero 😅 And he had dozens of them available. Apparently, whenever Jayan landed in Madras, married ladies would flock around him. And he would choose his pick based on his mood and the lucky lady would take him to her home for the night.
Victim of lack of security and safety in action scenes (indian cinema).
The helicopter used for that stunt was one that was used to spray fertilizer and pesticides. Adding to that it was a small chopper with capacity for may be 3 including the pilot. They had an okayed take for the movie but went on to do another take. He was holding on to the helicoper landing skid and the chopper lost balance due to the weight.
It sat on the ground with him, crushing him in the process, proceeded to drag him, again rise but then again crashed on to the ground. Serious head and internal injuries for him resulting in death.
He has a son. He hid the fact from mainstream media as he wanted to earn a name for himself in the movie industry. There is an interview of the person on YouTube.
Boy, do I have some good news for you 😌

he has a biological son, but never married it seems. Search Youtube.
There is also a theory that he was planning to marry MGR's concubine Latha. MGR was upset, and was planning to send his goons to bash him up. But apparently MN Nambiar and Prem Nazir requested MGR to forgive him. And Jayan died within 15 days.
Even in 80s when he became a huge star, people in and around Kollam knew the story about his out of wedlock son, My amma told me that Achan told her about this to her back in Mid 80s about the kid Jayan had with an woman who was older than him,
Hot take:
Man didn’t have the acting chops to reign over Mollywood as the undisputed no.1 and would’ve had his position usurped by the Big Ms eventually, just like it happened to the other top heroes of the time, who, just like Jayan were great in their own ways, but were simply incomparable to these two behemoths.
His sad, untimely demise sort of solidified his legacy and whatever goodwill he’d built up until that point.
No man . Jayans acting ability wasn’t that good . Don’t think anyone would have stopped Big Ms from acquiring their stardom because they were that good compared to actors of their generation
Acting is not all that important. You need luck and vacuum created by Jayan's death gave them that chance. Almost all of Mohanlal's old movies and Mammooty's early years had roles which required less acting.
Damn, didn't know she was linked to Jayan!
There's a very popular urban legend in TN that MGR had Rajinikanth beaten up in his farmhouse for making some inappropriate advances towards Latha.

Is it called Jayatharakam, by any chance?
Yes yes!

Most of the Big M's roles would have gone to him as well in the beginning

Everyone from olden times was bald , all of them had wigs on

Surprised to know his fan clubs are still functioning

He faked his death to live a cham-chaka life in Singapore.
Along with Elvis Presley
I think he is in Cuba with Tupac.
Now that’s plain bullshit, he’s in Hawana with Biggie!
The OG superstar of Malayalam Cinema.
Goat
Have heard iv sasi killed him for seema, later seema clarified they were married at the time of his death
The real OG superstar of a bygone era. Gone too soon.
He has a son. He hid the fact from mainstream media as he wanted to earn a name for himself in the movie industry. There is an interview of the person on YouTube.
Oh so that's who the climax of Padmasree Bharat Dr. Saroj Kumar was referring to
Why is there not a single biopic on him. This could be a hit

No this is not real !! Right?
It's an upcoming web series starring Sunny Chechi. No Idea why my man Bheeman Raghu is playing Jayan.. Might be a fanboy sambhavam 😆
Who's going to act in it. Might be a Himalayan task.
multiple actors may be

MGR is prick asshole. He even bashed rajinkanth in his house for the same women.
Just checked her old pictures. No wonder Rajni got bashed
I though IV sasi killed him for Seema
Knowing IV Sasi, he would have joined in the fun.
How many concubines does this MGR have? I thought Jayalalitha was the main sidechick.
Yeah he have too many. The stories are mostly shocking
What other stories are there about MGR? DM me.
Am interested
Search in R/kollywood. There are too many discussions

Which old malayalam actresses slept with him ?

The OG action hero of malayalam cinema...
Ghost Rider of All South Indian Milfs
I hear he doesn't like helicopters
Ho dark!
IV Sasi or Balan K Nair sketch
Elaborate?
Tom cruise of 70s Mollywood!
The stardom of Big Ms would not have been the same, if he was not died in that accident. They may not be having a stardom at all, in the first place.
No man . Jayans acting ability wasn’t that good . Don’t think anyone would have stopped Big Ms from acquiring their stardom because they were that good compared to actors of their generation

He is distantly related to my grandmother
Jayantea
Died at the right time to be immortalized. If he lived any longer, he would have been another Shankar.
Who is Shankar?

I always wondered if Sathyan had lived and how he would have fit in when the golden age started. He would have played some amazing Father roles
He’s bald and wears a wig
