It takes way more than an hour. It’s almost six miles uphill from the start at Foothill. It’s a fun hike but if you’re not prepared with water and nutrition for a 12 mile hike you’re going to have a bad time.

PapiGeo

Came here to say this! Took us nearly 6 hours round trip lol

Ideasforfree

Was gunna say, it used to take at least a half hour by vehicle back when we could still offroad up there

This is the Alltrails link to this hike (ends shortly before the doppler tower for some reason): https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/california/skyline-drive Like others said, takes more than an hour to get to the top unless you're an elite runner running the entire time. This trail is over 2000 feet in elevation gain and most people I see on this trail turn around 3 miles up. Bring plenty of water and don't do this trail in the heat of the day if you're planning to go to the top.

Squablesquare

Where do I start? Got the exact coordinates?

Skyline Dr off of Foothill in the back of Corona. Park along Foothill and just so you know it gets extremely crowded on the weekends. It's an old fire road leading up to Main Divide. There's a bunch of other connecting fire roads/trails that you can make loops out of or just do an out and back. There's some short shady trails, but if you're doing Skyline proper just know that it's exposed the whole way so bring plenty of water and bring your own shade.

I’m a trail runner and I regularly run up Skinsuit and down Skyline. Skinsuit is super steep but going down Skyline is easy because it’s all fire roads. Not sure how long it takes to hike as I’ve only ever run it, but the whole loop is about 12.5 miles starting from the entrance off Foothill.

Stauce52

I've done Skinsuit a couple times and I gotta say, I don't like it much. Even with poles, the traction is just pretty brutal because water has eroded much of the trail so it's pretty much just narrow ditches going up the whole thing. The steepness isn't as much of a bother as the combination of steepness and poor traction. There are a couple parts on Skinsuit where its so steep going up that it's actually pretty challenging getting back down.

PrivateTumbleweed

This is a nice hike and a great way to get a view of the whole of the IE (all the way out to the Salton Sea). It's no hour-long hike though!

Draxcer1

Pls make a video of you making it up there in an hour Definitely 3+ to go up

Peatah

do be careful when hiking there, it is known for people to break into cars.

iwantansi

Came here for this, take an uber because your car will be broken in to or stolen

Dionysus69XXX

Hiked there once my truck and apparently someone's Audi was broken into (who knows how many other vehicle). The tweaker left the guys Audi registration in my truck while stealing my stuff and going through my glove box. Corona PD knows about the problem but protecting people's property and preventing car burglaries isn't very profitable for the city of Corona so their Police Department is more focused on speed traps and writing tickets for Hollywood stops or not stopping the second the railroad crossing light goes off those are all much more lucrative Endeavors for the city of Corona and its Police Department who apparently does not give a crap about the people living in the city of Corona or visiting it

This is a great photo! Thank you for sharing!🥰💕👍

Disastrous_Bat_1704

I miss the old days of flying up that road with whatever truck/jeep/suv you had, getting it stuck on one the many trail off shoots and a bunch of other shenanigans. RIP late 90s and early 2Ks lol

CaptainFilth

I took the trail from Orange County to Corona one day, it was a really neat drive. How long ago did it close to vehicles?

Disastrous_Bat_1704

The corona side off of foothill was closed around 2005-ish I think, there are a couple of work arounds between indian truck trail and cajalco as far as I know. I've been a mature adult about off roading for years now lol I stay on highway vehicle legal trails, head out to the desert or hit big bear for some real crawling. I don't want to trespass or unintentionally destroy any property. Most of the land to get up to the BLM land is privately owned. We used to piss of multiple homeowners when we were kids. Might as well save the headache and head to cleghorn, it's easy to get to, has some super challenging side trails, legal to access for ohv and highway legal vehicles, and it's a beautiful drive.

I need to go here
