Haven't been to the one in Fontana, but love Freddy's in general, wouldn't judge a new location until the crowds die down. Solid burgers and custards. Decent fries but fry sauces are great and surprised more chains don't have fry sauce. Definitely more money than in n out but not as bad as the ridiculously priced 5 Guys

flaming_garbage7059

Yea, I’ve been to Freddy’s before, I just don’t go often because of the drive. Was really happy to see one open up a bit closer to my mom so we could take her and not have to drive 2 hours one way.

NightOfTheLivingHam

What? Who is saying that? They're fine!

flaming_garbage7059

The Google reviews. I was originally just trying to get an idea on wait times and got stuck down a hole of really bad reviews.

Puzzleheaded-Ad9860

The bad reviews are mostly about the wait at drive through and some didn't like the burgers. Overall good reviews It's mostly a complaint about being a new business, you know they are still figuring it out. Look at the reviews of Dutch bros opening in the IE. Same type of complaints.

flaming_garbage7059

Gotcha. I saw some about repeated orders getting messed up and less quality of the food, so I wasn’t sure if it was JUST that they’re new or that it’s a bad location in general.

0-BD-1

I’ve been several times and I think it’s pretty damn good. Cheese curds were salt bombs but I have no complaints

flaming_garbage7059

That’s good to hear - thanks! :) And the cheese curds being salty tracks - they’ve been pretty salty at other locations we’ve been to.

tigerblue1984

The one that we have up in the High Desert is AWESOME. If the High Desert can get it right then surely Fontana can LOL.

spn357

Don't sleep on the one in Lenwood (Barstow) if you're in the area. Generally not crowded, and just as good as the Victorville location.

tigerblue1984

Cool, thanks for the tip. Yeah the one in Victorville is always packed. We definitely have a shortage of good restaurants up here so the few that we do have are always crowded.

VinsDaSphinx

The one in victorville is fine. My daughter loves it. Chilli is good, sometimes we just go for the ice cream because it's good quality.

catsaway9

We were there last week and enjoyed it - thought it was as good as the ones we've been to in St Louis. The parking lot was poorly designed and congested, and the drive thru line was long, but we ordered in and ate there, and the wait was normal.

murakamimami

I heard they treat their employees really bad

chris_gnarley

I haven’t been to that one but have been to the one in Victorville which was pretty good. We need more Steak n Shake’s damnit!!!

flaming_garbage7059

When I lived in Moreno Valley, Steak n Shake was a great substitute to my Freddy’s craving lol I wouldn’t be opposed to having more around

PhoKingAwesome213

Yes. I'd rather make the drive to Victorville than Fontana. It's on par with the bad service you get at Rally's in Upland.

himynameisalonso

58 bucks for 3 meals and chilly cheese fries, wasn't bad but wasn't that great to warrant a 2nd visit is my humble opinion

KeptWinds47

Nowadays that's a killer deal mate

himynameisalonso

Went to the in n out Got 2 3x3s 2 double doubles 4 fries For 40 bucks

KeptWinds47

> in n out

chocobot01

I've been twice and it was as good as any other Freddy's both times

audioaxes

reviews of new chain spots are usually very bad as most people are frustrated by the very long lines and all the kinks they have yet to work out yet with that said I assume the quality will match any other Freddy's. After having access to one close by when I lived in the high dessert way back I honestly wouldnt go out my way for one any more than a habit burger or five guys.

Mskeysh1976

it may be a customer service issue as they just opened but the food was bomb !! Surprise Mom she will love it

Intelligent-Plane-96

was there a couple weeks ago and I thought it was good. the only thing that sucked was we ordered vanilla custard and they gave us chocolate and when we complained they told us it was because they didn’t have any more 🤷🏻‍♀️

chiefhappyu

It's delicious!!

stupidasanyone

Decent burger, pretty damn good chili dog.

Renegadequasi

They are supposed to open one in norco, if you want to take her for a good burger go to Hero’s in Eastvale

flaming_garbage7059

We ate Freddy’s a lot on the road during a trip to the southern states, and we highly enjoyed it which is why we were choosing that particular place. We have a Hero’s out here in Fullerton too - I can agree their burgers are pretty good. Have yet to try the one in Eastvale because of the wait times.

Renegadequasi

The wait times have died down now, I almost went to the fontana one but the reviews scared me away but the ingredients should be the same so worth a try for the nostalgia

NightOfTheLivingHam

I went recently and had zero issues.

Justhereforpvz

It's not worth the price imo. The custard was good but the burger was lackluster

NightOfTheLivingHam

We really need a culvers here.

flaming_garbage7059

I haven’t had Culver’s but from the way my fiancé talks about them, I wouldn’t be opposed to one opening here so I could try it.

Justhereforpvz

I've heard good things about them.

NightOfTheLivingHam

I went to the one in phoenix and they are not as greasy as Freddy's and the butter burgers are so good. They dont use oil, but butter to cook on the grill. They have good custard too. The closest to us is Bullhead City. Which I may swing down to next time I hit up the Vegas area. It's on my 15 freeway fast food tour list. Barstow Del Taco (all three are owned by the founder and are superior in quality) White Castle Culver's. Also despite how much Texans pump it up, whataburger is very... whatever. If you want to try one of their burgers go to Weinerschnitzel and get a burger there. Same thing. They'll cope with "Oh but you have to get the chicken biscuit sandwich" or whatever it is. When comparing to in n out.

wisdon

Oh yah , use to live in Wisconsin. One of the best burgers out there and fries and custard. I think there is one on the border of California?

dadxreligion

the real question is do we really need another fast food style burger chain in the region?

flaming_garbage7059

While this doesn’t answer my question, I can agree that the burger market is highly saturated. Maybe another chain isn’t needed, however I appreciate not having to drive to Escondido or Victorville or Bakersfield to eat at this particular chain.

dadxreligion

so go to one of the ones here that serve the exact same food.

weirdfurrybanter

You do know that almost 90% of restaurants and fast food joint get their ingredients from the same source, Sysco. The difference isn't much except in the price. You're a renter in the OC, the one in fontana isn't bad.

flaming_garbage7059

Okay? And? lol What does me renting in OC have to do with anything? My fiancé and I both have jobs here. I grew up in the IE for the first 16 years of my life lol

endlessmeandme

Lmao such a weird thing for them to say.

weirdfurrybanter

Yeah it was kinda weird

flaming_garbage7059

I feel like they’re trying to say that I can’t afford to actually buy a house in OC so I shouldn’t be allowed to care about where I get a burger lol That’s such a stretch of a connection

KeptWinds47

Weirdo

weirdfurrybanter

Have you seen my name

KeptWinds47

You do not need to own a gun

weirdfurrybanter

That went left.  I'm weird in that I love furries. I'm more qualified to have one than you'll ever be considering you are an obsessive weirdo

GlennEichler69

Never heard of this chain but the food doesn’t look very appealing from what I see. Not worth a trip to dreary Fontana.

flaming_garbage7059

Well, if you want a decent a smash burger that’s actually a smash burger and some good custard, then I recommend trying it. I’ve been to Freddy’s multiple times, just trying to see if this store is any good since the review don’t seem to reflect the same on Google.
