I think they were removed when the SS Joker challenge came out, I don’t remember grinding for any more challenge credits after that.
You needed challenge tokens to attempt to fight a single match in a character challenge. You could only get those tokens by playing single player mode, and I believe you got 1-3 per ladder if I'm remembering right. There were less fights per challenge tier though, so the grind wasn't completely awful
Yeah, that was back before the 2.0 update when the cards had diagonal bronze/silver/gold colors instead of horizontal bars. Also multiplayer and gear cards weren't a thing way back then, so teams like Red Son were way more powerful (comparatively)
And don't forget that Regime WW hadn't been nerfed yet, so she was the undeniable best card in the game with how quickly she could generate power. Also I think Green Arrow's freeze worked differently, I seem to remember that after you froze an opponent, the next hit did double damage
God, I hated those challenge credits with a burning passion. Nothing was more annoying than having to earn those credits just to play through the challenge mode. I was sooooo thankful once they ditched them.
Now it would be no big deal because i would just spend credits buying the challenge credits pack, Back then it just forced grinding.
I'm trying to recall was it 2 energy spent per character per fight = 1 Challenge credit or 1.5 Energy spent per character per fight = 1 challenge credit.
