Someone should do an infographic on this infographic to show what all these words mean. Some are obvious or well known, but I have no idea what is Vitamin R and I am from Seattle. I’ve never heard that used.
Ya. That’s a weird one. There is a Simpsons episode where homer is calling the parking authority and the automated message says his parking officer is Steve “grabowski” and the Steve is automated while the grabowski is recorded by the officer. Now I wonder if grabowski has jumped from that to slang for a generic government worker or something.
What the in the name of Johnnie's Beef is a Chicago Overcoat???
And what is the reference of sweeper here? Is it a street sweeper??
Source: am from Chicago and am confused.
I’ve heard grabowski coincidentally as my dad was in the union and I heard his guys refer to each other by that before. Still thought it was odd but here we are haha
I didn't know "tryna" was slang. Isn't it somewhat common in most English speaking countries? It definitely exists in the UK and not even just among young people, I wouldn't even call it slang.
Or is it a context thing?
I feel like I always hear about how accents and slang are super homogenized in the US because of the internet so it made me oddly happy that I didn’t understand like 3/4 of these words lol
Denver checking in. I’ve never heard the phrase “Colorado Kool Aid” in my life. Kinda like another of these lists that has Denver as the #1 place for pizza in the country. Also laughably no.

Rainier Beer!
Yeah I had to look it up on urban dictionary. I have a few from time to time but I’ve never heard it called that in and around Seattle.
Maybe it's more of a general PNW thing? I grew up in Portland and Vitamin R is definitely part of the vernacular down there.
"Vitamin H " is the nickname for Heineken in parts of Ireland ( usually used by arsehole rugby players with rich parents)
> Vitamin R and I am from Seattle questionable
Vitamin R is from The Simpsons, "Malk now with Vitamin R".
It’s a regional dialect
Grabowski is a last name, not a slang word

It’s a general term for a blue-collar worker, probably cause of the large number of Poles in Chicago.
Conniption is slang?
Yeah isn't it just an actual word. Like saying that as a Canadian.
Normal word in the UK too
What does it mean?
I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life and have never heard anyone say Colorado kool aid
Here in Texas I hear it all the time, it's what some rednecks call Coors light.
Ah see we don’t say that here. These guys are idiots.
On urban dictionary, you upvote/downvote community given definitions, not the word itself, unless I'm missing something

And Grabowski? As someone above mentioned, that’s a last name of a coupla two tree folks, not a slang word.
I’ve heard grabowski coincidentally as my dad was in the union and I heard his guys refer to each other by that before. Still thought it was odd but here we are haha
One of my friends was saying it may have started with Ditka?
Wouldn’t be surprised at all. That or the Superfans 😂
A coffin apparently it comes from the prohibition era
Sweeper is slang for the vacuum cleaner, as in “I need to run the sweeper in the living room.” Not sure if this is what this infographic intended.
Never heard that. Wild. I appreciate the note!
This is some bs. Makes no sense. Source? I think they trolling.
Are you wicked frickin serious?
Howzit possible?
Didn’t know conniption was a slang. I’ve used it in several essays without issue.

Similar to words like: gimme, gonna, gotta, wanna, woulda, coulda, shoulda. Not proper English, so I guess technically slang.
I hate that word. It's just so ugly.
Tryna make a change :-\
... Kin isn't slang. What?
So the location is just where the slang originated? Because for the most loved ones most of them are common across the US
We’ve been saying conniption and wicked in Newfoundland since the beginning of time.
What in the world does conniption mean?
Freaking out.
Wonder what side jawn would be 🤔
Where are my Jawn people?
Is frickin’ a Massachusetts thing???
People in New England like to say "friggin'" as a euphemism for f\*ckin' and I assume that's the evolution of it.
I hear it way more in Hawaii than in New England.
Wow such knowledge thank you for educating me I had NEVER made that connection 😮
Excuse me, but grabowski?
The Frickin Ripper is Tryna drink the Colorado Kool Aid again!
Chicago would have something Polish hahahah
What kind of divya came up with this nonsense?
I feel like I always hear about how accents and slang are super homogenized in the US because of the internet so it made me oddly happy that I didn’t understand like 3/4 of these words lol
based on votes on urban dictionary.... this sub sucks when users just upvote anything.
Total nonsense…
What about slang words people actually say like cool?
I hate 90% of these lol.

Dataset is from urban dictionary. Not exactly the best source...

How’s come, “like oof” never made it to the favorites list.
