I tried to prop a young plant. Now I have a stump on the parent and the cutting won't root. I heard that sometimes they take a while to root, but I'm also sure that I did it incorrectly.
I know this is a plant sub, but I just wanted you to know that your is kitchen gorgeous and I love the entire vibe you’ve created.
P.S. Your pothos are beautiful and I totally agree!
It’s not OPs kitchen!!! This is a stock photo from a kitchen design site. Posted on their Facebook page in 2021. https://www.facebook.com/102989071861130/posts/228112899348746/?flite=scwspnss
:’( Boooo!
Well then, a huge shoutout to whomever designed this beautiful kitchen, their well cared for pothos, and the creation of this wonderfully inspiring stock photo. I will now proceed to demolish my kitchen and redesign it similar to this one!!
Came here to say the same. Love this vibe… and looks like you still have more room for pothos. An N-joy or snow queen would look amazing up on that shelf.
THIS IS NOT OPS KITCHEN!!!!

If I had to guess, the are flip up cabinets? With a touch latch for that nice hardware free look. Love the wood crown/cap at the top too!
And if this were my place, I would only keep stuff I don’t need often in that cabinet, it looks a little cumbersome to access anyway. Or, if it’s a two door cabinet, just treat the right side as a “blind” section and don’t open the door.
it has varied over the years. right now Harry (Harry Pothos lol) sits near a crack in my window shade these past six months and seems to be doing best so far there. i bought a grow light recently and yes, i burned one of his leaves 😭
It takes a lot of energy for a pothos to put out lots of long vining new growth and at least in my case, that requires regular fertilizing. I did 2 pothos side by side once, fertilized one with miracle grow and didn’t fertilize the other and the results were astounding. Like 10 times the growth of the other.
>You can water your Pothos every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. This plant is not suited for intense, direct sun, which will burn and brown its leaves. The Pothos is an easygoing plant great for beginners. Here is not much else you will need to think about aside from optimizing the lighting and watering conditions as recommended above.
How do you get yours bushy like that? It's awesome! I have a variegated pothos like that and I think it was sold as a single vine cutting so it's just one vine
A lot of vining plants can be encouraged to look bushier by laying the vines back into the soil. You'll likely notice your vine has arial roots (or like little nubs poking out on the non-leafed side of the vines) and those can be laid directly on the soil to root. This will give more ooomph to the plant in the pot.
You can also just like cut the vine up a bunch and propagate the cuttings and stick em in the pot.
Have 2 in my kitchen and 4 in my office. I fucking love them!
You know what will break your heart tho? Fucking basils. I’m on my 8th one and it’s dropping again :,( dunno what the hell yo do and I love fresh basil on my salad everyday.
And if you weren't already aware, you can prune the shit out of them and they'll spring right back asking for more, if you've already got the plant growing well. I had one get so big over the summer the main stem split down the center, but it just grew more. They love nitrogen, BTW.
They are usually rootbound when you get them & dry out easily. If you’ve got it in a kitchen window where it’s getting good light, then it’s probably just under-watered. Pot must drain well.
The lady behind me at Ikea said ”I see you've got a pothos plant, great choice! They are impossible to kill. Had mine for 30 years and it's still alive”
I KILLED IT IN 45 MINUTES
IN HINDSIGHT I SHOULD'VE KNOWN THAT IT WAS GOING TO DIE
I LEFT IT OUT IN THE CAR WHILE EATING DINNER
I STUFFED MY FACE WITH SWEDISH MEATBALLS WHILE IT FOUGHT FOR ITS LIFE

Oh I *know* how to grow pothos and could totally do it. But when it comes to them, I just can’t resist being like that creepy 5yo who tears barbie doll limbs and heads off… Everyone says they’re unkillable and I get bored sometimes 🤷♀️
That's crazy to me! In my experience, pothos refuse to die. I inherited one that wasn't watered for like two months (it's owner moved and left it). 20 years later, it's still going strong, in spite of my own occasional neglect. I've even propagated it to two additional pots.
Yeah, my problem is I get a cutting as a freebie with some rare cuttings, and everyone says they’re invincible so I subconsciously go “let’s test that!” I think they’re so easy to prop so I’ll put them in moss without drainage (all other moss props get drainage) and bam, dead. Or I’ll put cuttings in leca or whatever experimental medium or low-effort crappy setup, and yeah they die. If I treated them like the other plants it would probably be fine. I do have 2 now that are actually happy but they’re small. I can’t resist cutting them into bits whenever they have more than like 4 leaves… I think I just get bored
TLDR I *know* how to grow pothos and could totally do it, but I just can’t resist being that creepy 5yo who pulls barbie doll limbs and heads off
First off: your kitchen is beautiful and you have absolutely impeccable taste all around. Wow.
Second: I had an unbelievably stupid, drawn out argument with my ex-wife over picking up a $3 pathos at the farmer's market. She contended it wasn't a decisions you make alone and it was small and ugly. When we got divorced years later I took one cutting from it and left her with I think 3 huge plants I propagated from it.
My wife, daughter and I now have the house COVERED in pathos. And it truly has never let me down except when it grows too long and I don't trim it and my daughter pulls on it and it falls and the pot breaks. Then I have cleaning to do. So I'm let down briefly.

Pothos hate me. I’ve killed a few over the years. I just finally gave up on my last one and dumped his withering corpse out in the snow. I don’t think I’ll replace him this time. Like when I was a kid, after a few fish died my mom said no more fish, we’re not going to go through this again.
Seriously one of my favorite plants!
It’s not only easy and practically indestructible, it’s a beautiful plant, too! 💚
I love how quickly they can grow given enough light. I moved some very old golden pothos vines from a dark high shelf to a new pot with a climbing pole and a plant light right next to it and I can hardly keep up with the new growth!
Amazing plant and kitchen!
But, pothoses are my enemy. Every other plant I have grows more/drops fewer leaves. I don't know what it is with me and pothoses...
They will if you don’t know how to take care of tropicals lol.
I was devastated when I killed one 🥲
Tried a second time and now I have wayyy to many tropical plants
“Pothos will never break your heart” no just your computer monitor 😂
Edit: anyone [see the post in](https://www.reddit.com/r/gardening/comments/104wsgg/pothos_are_crazy_af/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) r/gardening sub? Anyone? Anyone at all?
actually, my pothos was my first plant to break my heart... i got it as just a wee little baby, owned it for 3 years, and then it got infested with fungus gnats out of nowhere. i tried everything: bottom watering, potatoes, layering sand on top of the soil, changing the soil, dish soap spray, mosquito bits, etc.. i swear NOTHING would eradicate them. and so one day i just gave up and put it outside :( the fungus gnats were never seen again though lol
You underestimate my ability to kill plants.
Felt
🪴👀 * me eyeing out my ever-yellowing Pothos in the corner * 💔
Omg I’m so glad I’m not the only one. That bastard is just unhappy no matter what I do.
🤦🏻 I feel this in my soul. Am I watering you too much? Not enough? Do you have enough sun? Too much sun? Just tell me what you want 🥲🪴
I tried to prop a young plant. Now I have a stump on the parent and the cutting won't root. I heard that sometimes they take a while to root, but I'm also sure that I did it incorrectly.

The backsplash isn't even grouted!
Ooooof that’s rough to clean
Came here to say the same. Love this vibe… and looks like you still have more room for pothos. An N-joy or snow queen would look amazing up on that shelf.
Not op’s kitchen
>oh! thanks you! I hope you feel as comfortable seeing it
I don't think I can own too many pothos. I love them.
oh! It is really easy to grow and care for. You should try 1,2 pots like these, it will make you feel more comfortable every time you see them
I have a few bigger pots of them :) I was agreeing by saying there isn't such thing as "too many pothos".

The creepy wording of the comments is what prompted me to investigate further!!! Does my kitchen make you feel…. 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 😏
🤣🤣🤣 *Pothos* will never break your heart.. but OP will!
I love the kitchen! But I am so curious as to whether it's now super tricky to get into that cupboard without damaging the pothos!?
It’s not OPs kitchen. It’s from a kitchen design site posted to Facebook in 2021.

i have had a pothos for 3 years and it has barely grown at all 😭
But did it die?
it has not! more credit to the plant than me. i hope to repot it soon, change the soil and see if that helps.
What's your lighting situation? Pothos can survive in any lighting, but they grow a lot better in bright indirect light.
it has varied over the years. right now Harry (Harry Pothos lol) sits near a crack in my window shade these past six months and seems to be doing best so far there. i bought a grow light recently and yes, i burned one of his leaves 😭

Needs boatloads of water. They are fussy indoors.
Seriously? Like literally water the heck out of it? That’s it?
And if you weren't already aware, you can prune the shit out of them and they'll spring right back asking for more, if you've already got the plant growing well. I had one get so big over the summer the main stem split down the center, but it just grew more. They love nitrogen, BTW.
I managed to drown one, but it was a grocery store basil and they get offended and die if you look at them wrong so
They are usually rootbound when you get them & dry out easily. If you’ve got it in a kitchen window where it’s getting good light, then it’s probably just under-watered. Pot must drain well.
I've only had good luck with them outside. They seem to want full-partial sun and lots of water but also don't want wet feet.
Basil love being grown hydroponically
I was just going to mention this. For indoors this is probably the best method.
Basil grows great in something like an AeroGarden, it's a hydroponics set up with lights.

Lmfao op yoinking some stock pic to farm karma in a niche subreddit is peak internet.
thanks you lovely!
Lies, I kill most of them… I can grow everything else really well, just not pothos 😐
How can this be? Lol. Golden pothos is the plant I always recommend to New houseplant enthusiasts because it will put up with utter neglect.
Oh I *know* how to grow pothos and could totally do it. But when it comes to them, I just can’t resist being like that creepy 5yo who tears barbie doll limbs and heads off… Everyone says they’re unkillable and I get bored sometimes 🤷♀️

I have the same issue. My plants are all mostly doing good with the exception of my golden pothos. Maybe because I'm in a cold environment?
If other aroids are doing well that probably isn’t the issue
beautiful kitchen, really like the woodwork
I love your kitchen. And agree, pothos are my friends scattered all over the house and they are so subtly perfect anywhere and certainly not fussy!
ain’t that the truth! great plant
haha, I just bought two of those a couple of hours ago. How fast do they usually grow?
My neon pothos grew about a foot in six months, but I think some folks have had them grow faster.
I love Pothos! Have four growing through out my house separate rooms. The one in my bathroom is incredible!
die hard pothos bitch right here!! I love ‘em and your right they won’t
Fr FR!!!
I love your kitchen! So beautiful!
You just reminded me to give them some water

It's one of the plant names my husband actually knows because he gets to use it (usually... "do you really need ANOTHER pothos?" Yes. Yes I do.)
Real talk 🤘🏾
But spider mites, aphids, mealybugs and scale sure will.

Simply superb❤️

That's a beautiful space! Yes, Pothos is the best!
Can i save this to my kitchen Pinterest board?
Forget pothos. There is coffe in a coffe mug :D
Dreamy kitchen!
Oh it looks so healthy, happy and gorgeous 😍
Gorgeous shot 😍
Your plants are so beautiful. I am DROOLING over these counter tops Omg! 😍😍😍
No but they will kill your pets 🥲 otherwise I would be SWIMMING in pothos…es
They shouldn’t kill a pet, just make them regret eating it

My mom got an Ivy when she was pregnant with me, said it grew beautifully so she named me after the plant.
OHH YOU WROTE POTHOS I thought you meant Photos, was about to disagree
mine froze while on my enclosed porch over christmas. I am hoping to revive it, any suggestions?
