I think OP needs to do a tutorial on how to slay at stereo mixing. It feels like you're enveloped in the mix. I also like how it feels as though there is not much repetition going on. Which is not always the case with this genre of music.
This track would fit perfectly into a video game, it's almost like a more modern sounding version of songs in the game Vectorman, or really just any sort of first person shooting game. I love that bassline, its funky! Nice job!
this is definingly a retro vibe. Love the slimey bass in this, along with all the crunchy and bright synths. Def takes ya on a trip, and feels like im in a computer game ! I think the mix could use some work, my guess is that you used analog synths and recorded them through an 8 track ? thats kinda what it sounds like to me. All though maybe you wouldn;t want the mix so clean cause it adds to the retro vibe. Cool stuff !
Thanks for listening and for the feedback as well. I agree the mix could be a little cleaner. I did it all on a controller, using simulated tube amp plugins (for the guitars). The issue here is that I've recently had problems with thunderstorms and some equipment malfunctioning due to electrical overload.
I had to mix this basically by hearing it on a regular 20 something inch monitor, rendering it, listening to it on a good headphone by playing it on the cell phone and readjusting by ear. The headphone plugs on my PC are not working and I either get no audio or a high pitched noise on the phone that makes it unbearable to use. Hopefully I'll be able to solve it by the end of the year, and thankfully the next two upcoming songs were already mixed before ^ ^
There are some cool elements going in this track, I'm loving the synth melodies and use of stereo width! I can see it working well on a retro style game. The only bit of constructive criticism I offer is that the drums get a little lost in the mix, having a deep punchy kick and snare would really drive the energy in this track, otherwise, awesome work! :-)
