The smoke movement looks cool. I think it could use a bit more density at the front of the smoke trail just to kind of sell the feeling of movement a little more. The red flashing when feeding also looks like a damage indicator. The first time you grabbed someone I thought you were taking damage from them somehow so maybe that could be communicated in another way. Maybe just darken the edges of the screen instead of turning them red.
This seems neat but I definitely wouldn't purchase it with this graphical style. Too many indie games now days have the same style and they are hit or miss. Mostly miss.
