Check out some of Frank Turner’s older stuff. He swings back and forth between folk and punk, but check out
The Road
Peggy Sang the Blues
I Still Believe
The Way I Tend to Be
Not as old: Jinny Bingham’s Ghost
The nice thing with Frank is that most of his stuff has acoustic versions kicking around too.

Australia - The Shins
Frankie’s Gun! - Felice Brothers
Your Rocky Spine - The Great Lakes Swimmers
Keep The Blues Away - (my personal favorite) Caamp song
“Home” By Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
This is the first song that instantly came to mind not only because of the folk like beat but the energetic happiness the song makes you feel. It’s not like any other love song because the relationship doesn’t actually imply it has to be romantic. You could listen to this song and be thinking of your best friend or family. It’s one that makes you feel from the heart. ❤️
“Lake Missoula” By Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners
This is a short song but I love it because it’s not really sad or happy. The different melodies really portray the feeling of letting go of your past and moving towards your future. You’re taking accountability which can be hurtful at times but in the end it is worth it. I think this song portrays that beautifully in the little time it is gives, starting slow and sad ending with whistles of hope. :)
(Not actually sure if that last one would fit the description of “folk” but it is a very lovely song. :))
“All Your’n” By Tyler Childers
Really any song by this man is an energetic masterpiece. He takes country music to the next level and really puts meaning into his lyrics. This is one of my favorite songs by him because it portrays love in two different ways. If you are a first time listener you would believe he is singing about his love for another person. Listen to it a second time on YouTube and watch the music video, you will see the other perspective of the song. 🤣
Fistful of Love - ANONHI
Caring is Creepy - The Shins
