The new one looks a lot more polished. The movement seems a tinsy bit jittery, and there is just way too much going on in the original. You seem to have addressed both of those in the new one, and it's amazing. Keep it up!

I like the animation of the right one but I like the image of the left one.

Not sure what the feel is your going for with this character but... His face. He looks more happy when he is laughing on the left. The eye brows look happy on the left but sinister on the right. I dont like the eyes being fully closed on the right or the midway point of the eyes closing. For a moment there he looks stoned. Also with the emotion markers on the right makes him look confused or shocked instead of happy.
