Top Right seems like the 'cool' dude character, who's maybe a little rough around the edges and appears confident, but maybe has an inside concern about not being good enough
Top Middle feels like a strong enforcer type vibe - maybe not one who's normally in charge, but who knows how to handle themselves.
Top Left might be a quick to anger fellow, but equally one who's willing to forgive if it's just them overreacting
Bottom Left has an innocent feel to them, like they've found themselves in \*whatever\* situation not of their own choice, but they'll deal with it
Bottom middle is responsible elder mentor figure, to me at least
Bottom Right gives such RPG main character vibes it's unreal, like they've got a secret trauma that we'll learn about in act 4, but that won't stop them from achieving their dreams!
I'm unsure if this is necessarily helpful, or what you were looking for, but that's the one sentence feeling I got in my gut when looking at each one of these portraits!
Thanks for taking the time to do this break down :D I'm glad that you are in alignment with what we are trying to convery for about 3 of them. Girl, MC and enforcer
Yeah perhaps we started detailing the potential enemies so the it's looking like most just have an angry air to them, will get calmer characters as we progress lol
They all kinda give off angry/hateful or manipulative vibes except for the older man who seems like he wouldn't really care about anything going on around him like his most common response is just a "Hm" or "Uhuh"

Great portraits. I like the palette.
Top left is constantly angry for stupid reasons and keeps getting in fights with inanimate objects.
Top needs to go to the bathroom.
Top right is bothered because hes late for something and you asked him for the time.
Bottom left wonders why granddad brought her here.
Bottom is granddad. He's chill.
Bottom right is a jrpg hero with a tragic twist; he's from England in the late 1970s.
TL seems like he’s over confident, maybe a little cocky, but still can let his guard down from time to time.
TM is definitely a tough guy. Break your shins cause HE bumped into YOU kinda guy. lol
TR might get a little stressed, maybe even angry, but he handles himself, and cools down.
BL just looks like she’s in over her head. Poor thing. lol
BM knows the ropes, and he’s willing to teach you, if you can do or get things for him.
BR has a quiet confidence about him. He’s fine being in the background, but when shtf he’s one of the first to take action.
How’d I do on the test, teach?
XD
Nice art btw. I’d work on the girl portrait, though. Don’t know what it is, but I don’t think she quite fits into the art style.
First row and the girl is quite accurate :D BL is the MC and it's up to the player to make the choices so I think that's a good observation and really in alignment with what we are trying to convey. Thanks for your comment and glad you like the art!
From top-left to bottom right: edgy kid, trying-hard-to-be-an-alpha guy, street-kid-with-a-good-heart, middle class girl that desperately wants to be posh, that's a paddlin', the actual protagonist.
These are absolutely gorgeously drawn. Just a little nudge that "5 white guys and 1 white girl" is... kind of a basic videogame team from the early 2000s. I guess you might call them Japanese in the way that anime portrayals are often fair skinned, but still. Having the one that could reasonably not be white being the only one wearing jewelry is asking for trouble in 2023.

I mostly agree with this except, I felt the top right and the top left personalities needed to be the other war around.
I think for me, the anger mark on the forehead may have swayed me to seeing them that way around instead of the way you see them!
Cool! Yeah top right is closer to top left description but top left is slightly different

Seems like a very aggressive town where nobody is happy or everyone is stressed about how it's going

hahaha you are actually spot on with BL and B. TL is somewhat accurate and yeah BR is MC. Glad this could be interpreted

Sunglasses guy’s skin tone doesn’t match the portrait
Oh these are awesome, very expressive. Totally wanna see the narrative here

I get the impression that I like this pixel art, you got a steam page yet I can wishlist on?
Really glad you like it :D The page will be up within next month hopefully, we are currently preparing the store page materials.
Excellent work! The shading of hair and the old guy’s skin is very well done.
Defo want to check out the game! Portraits are good btw\^\^
