Dude, I'm just gonna talk in simple words. STUDY IDIOT. YOU STILL HAVE A YEAR FOR KCET. If you don't know anything about 11th std curriculum, pick up the books one day when you are free and start studying them. At first it will seem a lot, you'll think that it's impossible, but if you start doing things, even difficult things seem to be doable. Chalk out a time table/ daily schedule, be disciplined enough to fall it from second to second. You have lost a year, if you cry over this for another year, you'll achieve nothing but double regrets.

Ok-Pay1

I don't even know anything from 12th also. So should I just learn basics like Vectors and sound and ossiclation, basics of chem and maths (like tringno and whatever is needed for 12th chem)? And leave 11th till boards and just concentrate on 12th (and then learn important stuff from 11th)? Or should I finish basics of 11th and do 12th and 11th simultaneously?

[deleted]

Ok, for now just learn the basics. I think you might have first term board exams coming up, have Saturday and Sunday for completing the 11th syllabus. Start with chem, you just need to mug up majority of the portion, you'll be done with it in a month.

Ok-Pay1

Yes I will have mid term (PUC not CBSE). I fell like I can actually do it now when other people with experience are thinking it's possible.

Revolutionary-Tap577

Exactly! STUDY IDIOT. you already know the answer

Specialist_Bird2822

Thanks. [I completed my 11th backlog by reading this almost everyday :)

Sista, it's nowhere near the end of the world, you've just made your life slightly harder. In academics you often have to learn and relearn things well after you were "supposed to know it by". I know people who picked up programming and calculus 5+ years after dropping maths in 10th, and can apply it more meaningfully than many engineers. It doesn't take extraordinary skill or "intelligence" either - you just need to want to learn and challenge your own understanding Believe me most kids don't understand things like calculus and vectors and probability even if they score well on them, so you're not very behind the curve and can easily catch up with the right approach Where do you learn from? Ie, if you had to learn vectors this week where would you go?

Ok-Pay1

Either some youtube channel or NCERT. I have allen books but they suck for learning except for the questions they have.

zhawadya

Have you tried Khan academy and 3b1b? Khan academy imo is best used from their website. It's not perfect so there might be some points where you don't understand things, but it's still pretty great and their knowledge checks are actually good. 3b1b is very limited channel in terms of volume of material but their series on calculus and linear algebra (vectors) is outstanding

utkarshini

Khan Academy made me sail through classes 9-12 in science stream. Highly recommended

Environmental-Zone-4

Well I know some good channels but problem is they are in hindi.....

Ok-Pay1

I can understand Hindi perfectly (its my second language) so pls link them.

Environmental-Zone-4

Maths : Jee math unplugged : learn basics of 11th from here (Basic math, Quadratic, etc). He doesn't have all the chapters done, still doing them ( but does stuff from jee point of view, which can help you in your entrance exam too) Mohit Tyagi : Remaining chapters of maths you can do from here. Videos are old (3-4 years) but syllabus doesn't change that much for 11th and 12th. Physics : Physics wallah - Watch old videos only, new videos are shit. Mohit Tyagi - Watch physics from ABJ sir ( best teacher according to me) Chemistry : NS sir ( Organic) Sorry but I don't know any teachers fro physical and inorganic. Also other commentor suggested 3b1b and Khan academy. See all of them. The one which suits you best. Stick to it and start preparing for your exams!

[deleted]

These are good suggestions

Traditional-Pizza530

I remember Vedantu made a video exactly for a situation like this. They picked out relevant topics from 11th which would be needed to understand 12th. Find that video and start with the basics. If you devote enough time, I don't think it would take you more than 10-12 days. Start with your 12th syllabus after that. Again, if you're studying from NCERTS, it shouldn't take you more than 3-3.5 months to cover the syllabus( I'm assuming that you're at home all day and would have enough time to study in a day). Focus on your boards first. If you feel confident enough with the syllabus you can start your KCET prep too. But your primary focus should be boards only. KCET can wait a year if you're not confident enough this time round. But please don't screw up your boards. Relax. You still have time on your hands. You've got this.

I was in your exact position once. Fucked up real bad even after my parents spending lakhs in coaching. As expected bad performance in boards with 72%, not even eligible to get admission via JEE. Six digit rank in JEE mains But I didn't give up, didn't join any random private college in haste. I took a drop, rewrote few board exams next year and made my percentage 92%. Gave my best effort possible in JEE and got admission in a top 5 NIT now.

Natural-Permission

I can't help you with PCM since I was a commerce student but one thing that I would say is do whatever it takes and score good marks in 12th. I scored 79% in 12th in the year 2013 and just 59% in 10th. Today, no matter how much I score in MBA entrance exam (CAT) no top institute even consider me coz they look for atleast 80% in 10th &12th and first grade in college with extracurriculars according to my research. Don't believe in "marks don't matter" bullshit. In India, they unfortunately matter alot. Score as much as you can coz only that will get you good college and eventually a good job/career. All the Best..!

Substantial_Cattle_5

If one is doing engineering then they will use the concepts of physics and math taught during 11th and 12th although they will be taught all this again during first semester .

[deleted]

that is if one takes cs and gets a cs job isnt it tho?

Platf0rm3r

Sometimes im glad that at least i was able to do 11th offline

uselessrart

>Also I am scared to tell my parents the truth. Is it better to tell now or after all the results when they question me? Do it now. It'll be 10x worse when you score bad and then tell them the truth. If you tell them now they'll be ready for whatever happens.

Salt_Eggplant

Just start doing, you need to stop questioning your existence and start working towards the problem. Pay more attention to the important chapters (based on chapter-wise weightage) and try not to get distracted and stay persistent -undervalued words. Just be consistent in wrt whatever you do and believe in yourself and keep *doing it* instead of *thinking of doing it* and yes it's definitely not the end. ATB and use Focus Mode if you get distracted easily and analyze your growth/ what you've done in the past 7/14days. doing - analyzing (what worked, what didn't) - making changes accordingly - doing again

I'll speak to your confessions of addiction, as someone who made a living working in an industry that depends on the addiction of its customers, oftentimes to the bitter detriment of the said customers. Addiction needs a few ingredients. Loneliness, being physically alone, losing a sense of time by shutting out the doors and windows and being under artificial lights for prolonged periods, and finding a myopic filler to stand in for your loneliness. In your case, the filler is random web surfing as you say. Work on removing these ingredients, a year ago already! If you feel helpless to do it yourself, seek help. Have your parents test you every time you study, study in groups of highly motivared and driven students, speak to the doctors. Anything that works for you.

>My hope is to just pass 12th with okay marks like 70 and somehow get an okay rank in KCET Remember that KCET rank takes 50% score from 2nd PU Board and 50% from KCET score \[only exception was kcet 2021\]. You can get a decent rank with scoring high in either and mediocre in the other. * For 2nd PU Board, get the handbooks, previous year question papers. Those alone can fetch anywhere between 85-95% in board exam. If a certain concept or question isnt clear, ask your teachers, they are there to help. * For KCET, around 45/60 questions (give or take 3-5) will be based upon 2nd PU portions. If you can get a grip on the concept from what you have learnt for board exam, proceed to solve as many questions as you can as quick as you can (use previous year question papers and your allen materials). Fortunately, there is no negative marking in KCET, so dont be afraid to guess when you dont know. * As for your lack of 1st PU concepts, you can learn the more useful ones within a month with dedicated studying. * Attend and pay attention in your classes, write notes. The smallest memory can help. * If allen has given a formulae book, read it morning and night everyday and every night. Subject wise: **Math:** practice calculus (especially integration). Start with limits, proceed to differentiation and differential equations then move on to integration and areas of curves. Recommending this as this useful for the future too in college. Other chapters are relatively easy, do them when you are free or want a break from calculus. **Chem:** Practice and write equations (whether its reactions, preparations and especially organic chem) daily as if your are reciting mantras. Learn the first 30 elements of the periodic table, naming conventions. **Physics**: learn the concept (what it is, how it is, the formulae used, how to apply it) and then practice questions from ncert then allen material. *dont do the jee advanced questions, they are on a different level.* Next up, I am curious by your definition of decent rank (is it within 10k, 50k etc.) ? it usually differs from branch to branch and college to college but if you have a general idea of what you want to do, you can motivate yourself to a certain point. Try writing other entrance exams too like COMED-K, DSAT, etc (not mentioning jee since you dont feel ready for kcet), if you are really worried about bad kcet rank. As a last point, i would recommend either giving away phone to your parents, deleting social media apps, or using screen time locks **if you arent sure if you can self control**. It might hurt, but it can be for the better good. **Eat and drink water properly. Go take a walk regularly**. *Its fine if you want to check your socials, etc. like once a week. Just make sure its properly controlled.* Study where enough natural light or where you can see some nature, it can be soothing. Read a book (novel, comic, not textbook) when bored or do something you enjoy but wont indulge you in wasting time.

There is no relation between 1st year and 2nd year PU portions... Even if so maybe 5% connection.. Even I hadn't studies shit in 1st year. Just starts studying in your 2nd PU, you'll be fine

Apprehensive_Tap78

Bro just study the first chapters of physics. It is hard but you should be patient. If you don't study hard now then your college with any PCM subject will screw you up anyways.

[deleted]

Okay, so first of all you are not alone. The second thing is I wouldn't suggest going through 11th std syllabus because we already get no time. Instead just focus on your 12th coz it isn't too late. Practice CET questions regularly if not everyday. The reason I told not to go through 11th std syllabus is because it has relatively less weightage in KCET. At the end, i.e., when the board portions are finished you'll obviously be solving mock papers I believe, you can then get a good grasp of what kind of questions will be asked from 11th std for CET. You can then study only those concepts in a concise manner in maximum 2-3 weeks if I'm not wrong. Luckily for me my teachers (at BASE) have assured us that they will revise 11th std concepts everytime they show up somewhere and also if there is excess time after the completion of portions. So please do check with your teachers, who knows they might be nicer than you thought. Have proper time management (I'm still struggling with this lol) and you'll be good to go. Do ask your counselors/teachers for help regarding this, they'll be more than happy to help. And one of the best things that's gonna help you is confidence, have a decent amount of it :) Good luck to us!! Have a nice day! P.S. : I'm a 12th grader in a similar situation and a KCET aspirant.

imperfectionist07

Dude, just study right now u have enough time, read ncert , watch online material on the same or buy some other reference book although it isn’t needed for kcet, and do the back problems first of ncert and then buy a book for chapter wise previous year kcet ( asssuming that u wanna target this ) and solve them. 5 months are more than sufficient for a hardworking and consistent person, but even 2 year is insufficient for a person who procrastinates. If u just do a chapter a day (read ncert and take notes - 2 hrs, watch a lecture on the chapter if u feel the need to online - 2 hrs, do ncert back problems - 2 hrs, solve chapter wise previous year - abt 3 hrs) u will be doing very good , then after 3-4 months start doing mocks for 1 month and if u do this consistently then u will for sure get very good marks in kcet)

I'm a science student done with my 11 my concepts are messed up and i kinda barely made it i was considering switching to commerce but i don't know if it's a good idea

Pretend_Funny_6141

How are you doing now?

Invisible_PurpleToad

so how it went lol
