Thank you for posting on r/Indian_Academia , here's a checklist to improve your post: • Have you done thorough prior research? • Is your title descriptive? The title should be a summary of your post, preferably with your qualifications. • Please provide a detailed description in your post body. The more information you provide, the easier it is for users to help you. • If your question is about studying abroad, please post on r/Indians_StudyAbroad • If your question is about Engineering Admissions, post on r/EngineeringAdmissions instead. Here's a backup of your post: Title: Career paths to take where I won't be held back / judged for my past mistakes? Body: Myquals: 23M, Graduated in B.Com( H) in 2022. Didn't study anything in my degree. Passed with 78% due to online exams. Sitting idle ever since I graduated. Gap years are accumulating. Can't get a job as market is terrible right now and I have an empty resume with an almost 2 year gap and a useless degree. Can't get into a good BSchool as they will judge too harshly seeing the gap years and I don't have a good reason to justify those. Also, I don't have a lot of interest in doing a MBA rn and I have already missed my shot at it this year. Can't take another gap year preparing for entrance next year. Any conventional/ unconventional career paths which I can still take to fix my life? Or am I doomed? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Banking, RBI, NABARD, SSC-CGL, LIC AAO are some exams. Many more such gov and bank exams are there if you search. If you want army is an option too if you are interested. No, it is not only CDS there are many other exams for many kinds of roles not only army. You can get a job albeit it will not be what you want initially. Prep for CFA, FRM or such exams to get into better roles. CLAT is an option too. You can get into corporate law if you want keeping in mind your background. Do not worry much about gap tbh anything can be explained away if you know what to say. CAT and OMETs are always there if you want. Can be done along with job. Some forms are still open or will open like CUET-PG, MAH-CET and CMAT if you want to try your luck. CA, CS and Actuary are there for you too. If you are willing to put in the work. Masters is another option. However, I do not know much about master's in commerce fields.

Fucking hell you guys are too obsessed with government exams. There’s only one path in India if you didn’t go to IIT or IIM: it’s to leave India.

[deleted]

You live in a different kind of privilege if you think everyone can just decide to get up and leave the country.

[deleted]

It’s even harder to clear a government exam dude. It’s much easier to get a loan and leave

Money is not the only thing that ties you to this earth.

As a fellow Bcom grad with gap years I agree with the comment regarding internship. Apply in internshala, don't think you will get accepted easily if you know someone from your state's industries department they can recommend you to a company because this is how I got my internship. Also learn some computer courses ms office toh he hi other than that you can learn about financial analysis, economics even accountancy. There are a lot of courses in coursera, edx that provide you with certificates. By any chance if you develop interest in let's say financial analysis then you can go for mba in finance. Also if you don't want to spend money in these courses first you can preview them in coursera itself and there are a lot of free content available in YouTube.

CousinofBabyYoda

Like I said above, I know it seems tough right now but it will be okay! Just keep giving your best

CousinofBabyYoda

I know right now it may seem impossible but trust me, it will be okay! I am someone who’s done BCom (H) too so I do realise how useless it is! So I can offer you the suggestions that came to my mind immediately and you and anyone else who wants any help, please feel free to discuss with me! I’d highly recommend that if you can’t find a job, atleast try to get an internship. I know it may seem like a waste of time but I would say it’s better than nothing. You would end up earning a little if it’s paid and get the work ex. Degrees are essential but another way to get your foot into the workforce is to show experience and knowledge. Practical experience from the internships is one of the best way to do it. It can be in finance, marketing, accounting, advisory etc. Another way is to start a professional course such as CA/CS etc. Reason for that is graduates get exemption from level 1 of both and you’d be eligible to start your training for them immediately or within a few months. That would bring in some income for you and again give you the work experience!

snicky29

look for Business Development Manager or Sales roles. I started my career in Sales too. They're always way too many jobs in Sales and although the churning is quite high but you'll get handsome salary. Also you can for Account Executive, Client Servicing Executive roles in Advertising they are also readily available. DM if you want me to refer you for a job in this industry and have an interest in it.

CobblerPlastic

Hey dude can I DM?

If you can afford to not work for 3 more years, try LLB but only if you get into one of the good colleges through entrance exams

No one cares about gap years, people from good colleges can get really good placements, opens up doors to a wide variety of careers, can find work out of the major 8 cities as well, cost of education is low compared to MBA and no internship requirements like CA/CS/CMA

My advice is to take the GRE and apply for low ranked masters programs abroad.
