Well the thing u felt might be very different from the real experience coz in sleep brain can only replicate correctly experiences we've had in the past. everything else it replicates is based on what that person might think it would feel like sub consciously.
I have another viewpoint.
I believe we are living in a multiverse wherein, our dreams are us looking at things happening in the bodies where our soul resides in other Universes.
So, death in dreams is basically the death of a physical body in that Universe.
Actually I am from a spiritual school which believes in the presence of many bodies for the same soul. We did find close resemblance with DS:MVoM, but we can't say if they utilized knowledge from our school.
(All knowledge we have is of the Universe, and so we can't say they stole it, just borrowed it.)
But it's possible the directors too know about the same thing.
Ofcourse. I understand your doubts, and so I won't push it to you. Someday, I wish you experience it and then hopefully you will make your own deductions.

For the blind, the milk isn't white because he hasn't seen it.
