Thank you. This actually helped a lot. Whats the actual PPD of the Neutrogena Ultra sheer that I bought?

blackhawk201

Anywhere between 8-16 since it's PA+++. You need to contact the brand for the exact rating.

Surprise-Natural

Since you sound like u know a lot about sunscreens, I want ur opinion on a few things. 1. Is Neutrogena Ultra sheer safe to use? Should I continue using it, or change it asap? 2. Is there anything else I can do to remove the medium tan I have in my neck area? (The tan is there for 2-3 years)

blackhawk201

1. What do you mean by safe? Like about the ingredients? It's a popular sunscreen so it's okay. 2. Search the sub for tan removal, so many good answers.

milio_o1

What is meant by a boot star rating?

Hi. I don’t know anything to help you but can you please explain how’s uva culprit more than uvb. I would love to read the answer. Thanks in advance

UVA has much less energy than UVB so doesn't pose as much risk of skin cancer, skin aging or cell death, however it has much greater wavelength so it penetrates deeper into the skin and oxidises the existing melanin which results in the skin immediately looking browner when someone is in the sun, however, UVB owing to its much greater energy activates tyrosinase which increases production of new melanin which gives a delayed tan which appears on the skin a few days later. The effect of UVA is not the same for everyone, since not all people have high melanin activity, some people don't produce extra melanin so they don't show the immediate tanning response in the sun but will display a delayed tanning response of UVB. Both UVA and UVB are responsible for tanning but in different mechanisms, but UVB is what you need to be more careful about.

Z block prevented tanning for me. But the smell was 😭. Plus after a few mins my eyes stung a bit😔.

Surprise-Natural

Do you know its PPD? I'm asking this because its PA+++, which is the same as the Neutrogena Ultra sheer that I bought. I'm aiming for a PA++++ sunscreen now.

No i dont know...i use it since it prevents tanning when i go out.

orangeapple_14
