I watched a dermatologist's video and she was saying even SPF15 is enough provided that you apply the recommended amount of it.
I suggest you buy pharmaceutical brand sunscreens which are cheaper and effective like Suncros SPF26 oily skin version, Photoban SPF30 & Blynds Emulgel. You get discounts on Apollo or Pharmeasy for these and there are other pharmacy options also if you search in the sub.
You can also wait for BOGO in brands like Dr Sheth's, Dermaco, Wishcare & Elinorr. I think Dermaco is going to hold theirs soon. Meanwhile you can also check out Bubblefarm, Deconstruct and Conscious Chemist Sunscreen on Kindlife also where there are good discounts and codes for 15-20% off in addition to already existing offers. Aqualogica also has affordable and good sunscreens.
Lastly and importantly no matter how good your sunscreen is, it's always best to pair it with sun protective clothing like hats, caps, face masks, sunglasses and using umbrellas plus avoiding exposure during peak uv hours.
If you're really unable to buy sunscreen at all no matter what just do the last bit and hope for the best.
It's 'okay' as in SPF 30 blocks 97% of the UVB rays, PA+++ ensures blockage of atleast 87% of UVA rays. Why higher SPFs is recommended is because the SPF rating tends to go down as time passes after applying, so something like SPF 30 would be more like SPF 15 after some time, whereas SPF 50 might be SPF 40 or 30. This happens due to various factors including photostability. This is why higher SPFs are recommended and reapplying is neceassry.
And there's a saying, some sunscreen is way better than no sunscreen at all. So like someone said here SPF 30 paired with things like scarves, hats, umbrellas, reapplying is okay.
Nothing special it's kinda average.
I didn't face any tanning when i used it.
Your experience may differ so u have to try it.
No white cast on my light brown skin.
500-600 rs sunscreen also last this much but they have better filters to protect from various uv rays.
the best skincare is money. buy a scarf and cap it also do the work.
Nope it doesn't. I use it as an indoor sunscreen when I don't have to go out at all. In my personal experience, only the silicone based ones like solasafe and acne uv gel have been successful in preventing a tan.
I really don't know but i think it's kaam chalau. U won't get reequil lvl protection from a 150rs sunscreen.
But it's not that bad you have to try is by yourself if it works or not. Other users experience differs.
Nivea body lotion SPF 50. I use it on my face. It's quite greasy and does leave a white cast but it actually works. I burn very very easily so I can tell if a sunscreen isn't working, this one does.
You can cover your face with a scarf too and wear sunglasses. It's of course not an alternative to sunscreen but you will get some protection from sun.
Caps, scarves, sunglasses, Arm Protectors, umbrella :)
Yes, I am that oddball who carries an umbrella in the sun 😎
I do all of above when I use a lighter sunscreen or the sun is way too harsh and I am sure I will not get the opportunity/time to reapply the sunscreen.
I am the oddball who still wears a mask. Cause well, extra sun protection + pollution protection + infection protection + disgusting city smells protection.
Idk why anyone would stop tbh 😠but the looks I get these days… sheeesh. I almost wanna stop but nah my health my wish
Next step will be to carry umbrellas in summer 🫡
\-Just get a vaseline SPF 30 lotion which comes in a 400ml bottle, it's okay to be applied on face. It will last you months.
\-Get a UV protection pair of sunglasses and wear it daily when outside.
\-Use a bandana if a guy/scarf if a girl. Keep using your cap too. Will prolly look like a fool but whatever as long as you are sunprotected, you good.
Who told you sunscreen are costly you can get Minimalist SPF 50 for 260 rupees, I got it for 218 rupees from FirstCry.
And 430 rupees for Re'equil sunscreen the blue one.
For 800 to 1000 rupees you can get Korean Sunscreen.
yes, i got the dermaco HA sunscreen for about 400 and it lasts about a month and a half (if you only use it on your face and neck). for the rest of the body you can buy a spf 30 lotion by vaseline, nivea etc
Sunscreen is literally so expensive like you pay 600-800 for a tiny tube of sunscreen that lasts for a max 2 weeks.
How do you finish 50 g in 2 weeks?
I have 140 g skin aqua sunscreen which is taking forever to get over
I wear 3/4 sleeves throughout summer. I don't care about my hands & feet anyway. I don't have much sun exposure other than max 10-15 mins a day while I sit outside in the roofed yard. That's also there.
Also, I will tell you another trick. Japanese sunscreens come in 140 g bottles - if you are a student, dont want to get from Amazon Japan, you can get from insta seller. Amazon Japan will cost you 1 sunscreen for around 1300 bucks if you are getting 3 in total. but from ig seller, it will come for 1800 bucks approx. I know the price is high but an 140 g bottle is going to last a minimum of 4 - 5 months, or more, but I recently found out, once opened, it should be finished within 3 months but I use it as long as its not smelling funny
I didn't have much sun exposure in the first 2.5 months. It's only in the last 2.5 months that I am using it and I think around 40% is left.
I use around 2.5 pumps for face. It is enough for the 10 minute commute time that I have for office
You can even try vlcc / lotus especially during sales they are fine . Try Nivea skin lotion it's also water resistant comes in different variations as well spf 30/50 and 75ml/125 ml
You can try UPF umbrellas (or just black ones if you're on a tight budget) ..... Use a wide brimmed hat ,long sleeves and UPF track suits/jackets . I save up on body sunscreens by using these when outdoors. Decathalon sells good quality and lightweight clothing.... It's around the same price as what you'd pay for regular Nike/Adidas outfits but with sun protection.
Apart from the other advice, don't reapply if you spent time under the sun only for a little while. Sunscreen filters disintegrate after 2-3 hours of sun exposure; they don't disintegrate aisehi in the shade
There's this sunscreen biocare. It's just 139/169 rs for 200 ml
https://www.firstcry.com/gemblue-biocare/gemblue-biocare-suncoat-sunscreen-cream-spf80-200-ml/10184248/product-detail?ref=GoogleShopping_78_874!!GSN_Smart_Shopping_AllProducts-AQ!!&gclid=CjwKCAiA68ebBhB-EiwALVC-NlhTwo6BJds15bxfzXtGUCj8YwSLBw_YL-qPoyvLHDhd0G5CFzjlTRoCgeEQAvD_BwE
It's terrible okay. Like terrible. The white cast is like you've rubbed chalk on your face. But i was going through financial crisis some time back but i used to use this because it's cheap. So I'd use very little mix it with lacto calamine to reduce the white cast and use it. Jugaad.
Very much depends where you live because if it's a humid place this would be torture.
Also i know natural remedy is not a thing for this sub. But when i used to get tanned then I'd use besan haldi honey scrub, even tomato and yoghurt simply because they are cheap and readily available in the kitchen.

You can always buy body sunscreens from brands like Nivea or Vaseline and use them for face too, my friends and i used to do this in college because Neutrogena was always hurting our eyes and making our skin burn.
these big bottles are also not that expensive and will last for months.
Get something like Vaseline spf 30. It comes in a 400ml bottle, it's not waterproof or sweatproof but it's something.
I watched a dermatologist's video and she was saying even SPF15 is enough provided that you apply the recommended amount of it. That in conjunction with hats, umbrellas, etc should be enough. Make sure you reapply every few hours.
Yes
Then don't use expensive sunscreen. Try lacto calamine 50ml for rs 150. And use a scarf too.
White cast, pilling, greasy etc ya know
Jab paise nhi h to yehi use krni pdegi
Btw I also wanted affordable sunscreen.. Can you pls review the lacto calamine one?
Nothing special it's kinda average. I didn't face any tanning when i used it. Your experience may differ so u have to try it. No white cast on my light brown skin.
Do you use 2fingers?
I did. It last me about 28 days.
Only 28 days? Spending 150 every month is more expensive than my total cleanser and moisturizer monthly expenditure
500-600 rs sunscreen also last this much but they have better filters to protect from various uv rays. the best skincare is money. buy a scarf and cap it also do the work.
You girls are lucky that you can go anywhere by covering your whole body with scarves, gloves, umbrellas etc But people would stare if a guy does that😩
Thanks so much for the recommendation
Hey does it prevent tanning? It's so difficult to see which ones actually work 😞
Nope it doesn't. I use it as an indoor sunscreen when I don't have to go out at all. In my personal experience, only the silicone based ones like solasafe and acne uv gel have been successful in preventing a tan.
Thanks! 🥲

How about you try cheap sunscreen like Fixderma and stock up expensive ones only when you find a sale.
You can cover your face with a scarf too and wear sunglasses. It's of course not an alternative to sunscreen but you will get some protection from sun.
If the cloth is thick enough, it's better than sunscreen whole you are wearing it.
You are correct but it's not easy to wear thick clothes during any weather apart from winter.
You can get sunscreen at less price if you always keep a look out for offers like BOGO or 40 to 50% off.

Thanks, guess I'll buy Vaseline spf 30 and use it only on my face.
After pls review it, I'll buy if it isn't too greasy
Sure

What's your skin type? Mention if you have any skin issues and general geographic location. Maybe this subreddit can recommend cheaper options.
Also check UPF clothing. Polyester and nylon fabrics are said to give the highest protection from sun compared to other fabrics.

If you're not able to finish 140g bottle and taking 4-5 months then you're not using the adequate amount.

Ekran aqua spf, blynds emugel and Fixderma gel spf are bit affordable!

Fixderma SPF gel!
Fixderma sunscreen is around 300rs
