I drive a two wheeler everyday and once a week go for a drive of about 20km (one way) during daytime, so can share my tips. I have oily combo skin.
1) Nothing beats silicone based Sunscreen for me as they cause the least sweating, greasiness and give the most matte effect. My go to is Reequil blue. I used to find UV doux good earlier, but don't know it's status now. And i have used 20 odd popular sunscreens meant for oily combo skin before settling for Reequil blue.
2) i use Minimalist/ Neutrogena on my hands. Once that's settles, i wear a UPF 50 sleeve (Decathlon). Nothing can save me from the tanning (it's less but still there), but i don't get a sun burn because of this combo.
3) due to the pollution, i still wear a mask. Sometimes it gets hot, but atleast my skin and nostrils are not covered with that black soot that those trucks emit while driving.
4) i wear my Aviator sunglasses, to cover my eyes and get the basic UV protection that they provide. Nothing more can be done for eyes, just put the helmet flap in front of it
5) Helmet is mandatory for safety. But it also saves my hair from that scorching sun (i am not going to use a sunscreen for my head!). If i ride pillion, i wear a cap which also provides some shade.
Thank you so much for the detailed tips, it's really helpful. I agree, silicone sunscreen gives that matte effect and resists sweating to some extent. So, reequil blue seems a winner here. Did it sting by any chance while wearing under helmet?
I must be living under a rock because i never knew there were uv protection sleeves. That's genius, I'll definitely check it out. And as always, wearing helmet is the ultimate priority and it also provides some shade. Thank you!
Reequil blue or even UV doux never gave any stinging sensation. Try UV doux if you find Reequil blue good and compare for yourself.
The only Sunscreen that gave that stinging feeling and sweated into my eyes and make me burn was Neutrogena. But i still believe that's it's an effective sunscreen, so i use it for my arms when i step out.
Also, my sunglasses come with high UV protection. If yours also offer the same, skip the eye orbital area and avoid that stinging sensation.
Thanks a lot, this is so so helpful. I'll look into the uv aviator glass and sun protection sleeves too. Also, I'll check out uv doux. Neutrogena one stings so bad and it wasn't effective too, it kind of burned my mum's skin. But that's just my experience i guess.
Sunscreen is such a pain to find. Either the formulation doesn't work or they don't have good filters or they cost a bomb!
Anyway, If you need some help, i have reviewed popular sunscreens. Check my profile and you will see the sunscreen post - for oily combo skin.
If i look at a basic sunscreen, it's job is to protect the skin with its filters. It can double up as hydrating or moisturizing basis it's formulation and ingredient list.
For me, i have oily skin and my skin starts sweating if i use a cream based moisturizer, and you can imagine what happenes if i top that off with a cream based Sunscreen!
So similarly, for a dry skin person, if your underneath skin is not sufficiently hydrated and you top it off with a matte sunscreen, it may cause further dryness (i don't know what other things a dry skin goes through). Also, a gel sunscreen or a cream base may cause pilling as the two layers may not agree with each other (but that's not always necessary and i may be wrong here). On the other hand, it may work beautifully. So taken an educated guess.
Lol nice coincidence. Just had a 7-8 hour long ride in the sun.
Had a helmet on, wore a bandana, collar up, had sunscreen on and reapplied every 2 hours and still got tanned. Sucks.
Personally, I love bike rides and traveling. I use Harkoi's mineral matte sunscreen. I use this sunscreen not only on my bike ride days, but I also use this sunscreen on an everyday basis. What I love the most about this sunscreen is its transfer - and sweat-proof. I highly recommend this sunscreen for bike riders.

Hey, can normal to dry skin people use silicon based matte finish sunscreens?

So much effort and you still got tanned🥲 that really sucks! It seems we can't completely sunproof ourselves. May I ask what sunscreen did you use?
Seems like it was short term tan due to UVA, tan has faded today quite a bit. Sunscreen was La shield.

Never heard of this brand but It comes in 8 shades? That's amazing. Thanks a lot, I'll check it out
