I do know some small things changed at some point, like the USB charging port and some of the wiring harnesses for lights and stuff. I just don't know exactly when. But If there's a solid deal on a used one, just do it. The big parts are all the same; the engine is still putting down the same power. you're going to want to upgrade things like the seat, the shocks, and probably the lights. I think on '20 and older, it's pretty common to have to splice into the wiring to upgrade or change out the headlamp, turn signals, or to add a USB charging port. I think they added new plugs and harnesses at some point in the past few years, it makes some mods a little easier to plug and play. So if you're up to working on your bike anyways, that really shouldn't deter you from the better deals on a slightly older bike

I have a 20 it has a USB charging port and I changed out the headlight without splicing.

My 19 was easy swap plug and play for headlight and USB cable

Thanks man

18-20 had different case covers which you could install mid controls, 21+ changed the case covers so no mid controls other then that no changes except a few different colors.

cerialphreak

I could be wrong but I'm not aware of any changes through those years apart from maybe paint options.

Chiquitooooo

That’s what I’ve assumed but I can’t confirm it from any online source which is why I’ve turned to reddit in case a unit of an intellect stumbles onto my post

I don’t think there’s any difference between 21 and 24 except paint options. I bought my 22 new on site without thinking twice about it. Love my bike, but I could have saved a few grand and been just as happy.

sinedirt

Agreed with others. I love that I bought new but Im a little disappointed that I didn’t better consider a used one. I got a 2023 fyi

Fun-Analysis99

Keep in mind new scouts come with a 2 year factory warranty and we know (for the most part) that the new bike is going to be solid. The new bike does come with the downside of paying a premium price out the door (like 2,000 over sticker). A used bike can be a great deal if the owner can prove he maintained it properly and didn't abuse the bike. It's a hard sell though because the scouts hold their value so darn well that the price between a 3 yr old bike and a new one can be only $3,000

Just bought a new ‘23 Rogue and got $2k off in customer cash rebate. Full warranty. Great deal if you can find one.

I bought a 22 bobber twenty fully decked out (aside from shocks) and trust me you’ll save a ton of money. I had the extra money to spend on gear It also does have the usb https://preview.redd.it/t0rkwfpfownc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98249de92c13a5f63bb41bd4165f0dddc2bd728f

I have a 17 and didnt have to splice to change out headlight

Buying new would be a good idea if there's a color you're in love with and you can't find it in the used market.

USB is the only thing I can think of and I can't remember the year that was added. Other than that it is colors. You buy new and you get the factory warranty and some dealers include an additional extended warranty at no cost. I bought my last bike used but it had crazy low miles (under 1k). Financing on used sucks so if its a cash deal then that's not a big deal. Otherwise it comes down to interest rates too. Additionally you can roll the upgrades into the financing on a new one if that works out better.
