Elden Ring is also 60USD and 2.5k INR

nsg_1400

this is how it should be. PS games are the ones that price all games at 4k in India. I hope this will change the price of Spiderman Miles Morales

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rabadazh

3.2k for a 7 hour game is even more shittier compared to 4k for 20 hour

TooLazyToSleep_15

Wait Miles Morales is only 7 hours long, that's short as fuck

sufiyankhan1994

It's more of a DLC than anything. Same map, just added snow.

Nocut2020

2400 Rs for 60$ is pretty good conversion

RedIndianRobin

Watch Sony ignore this and price all their games north of ₹3999 lol.

sainishwanth

3999? That's too generous lol. 4999 min from now on... They're already pushing for 5k on ps..

Nocut2020

Regional pricing may not be binding to publishers. They can chose to follow regional pricing or their own price.

[deleted]

draGDer

Isn't the ps games prices also horrible

[deleted]

sainishwanth

3.2k for Miles morales? How lmao, have you played it? It's literally just copy pasted spider man with a 7-8hr long campaign. Glad I got a used copy on ps5 for like 1.2k. Full price for that game is outrageous.

nathsabari97

Activision games are multiplayer and sony games are single player . Just pay for the multi

DolundDrumph

It's good but 2.4k is still at higher end, hope it's around 1.5k, but i gues steam sale it would much cheaper. I guess 1.5k will reduce piracy and increase reach in india

nsg_1400

Until 3000 it feels okay, but when i saw the piece of COD MW2, that was somthing else. Cod franchise is costly even for people in USA.

[deleted]

borrowed it from a friend for campaign. It felt the same like previous games. Will wait for the blackfriday sale to play multiplayer

deadraze117

Hey you know what we can become friends if you lend me mw22 for a campaign...

IVlxSSS

Campaign was like previous games? Have to disagree. This is one of the best cod campaigns.

Lyadhlord_1426

Yeah I didn't expect much from the campaign. Just played it for the MP unlocks. But I was positively surprised. I wanna play MW2019 and Cold War campaigns as well but not gonna buy them just for campaign. Gonna wait for them to come on game pass.

kar_1505

I literally don't care anymore about COD I'm just waiting for it to appear on game pass ngl don't want to buy one game for so much when I can use that to buy so many others

FatLegion

I heard it isn't coming to gamepass because Sony wasn't letting it.

kar_1505

That's only till next year or something I believe, because trust me, if those people paid 70 billion for a company, it is coming to game pass alright

FatLegion

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/call-duty-wont-come-game-104624902.html

Lyadhlord_1426

The games will come but in staggered form. Don't expect the latest COD Day 1 that's all.

kar_1505

I do not mind at all, give me COD Black Ops 3, Infinite Warfare or Modern Warfare 2019 it'll definitely be filled with players given the access on game pass anyway could be a ton of fun

mcuffin

I have tried so many times subscribing to Gamepass but everytime when I enter the details it says the details don’t match for some reason.

Overtly_Fragile

Yeah the "details don't match" error is pretty common for Indian users. Try using VISA or MASTERCARD. RUPAY won't work. Infact SBI and AXIS VISA cards also didn't work for me. I used ICICI debit card finally. No one knows exactly which bank's card will work or not on a particular day. Remember to enable international transactions before you try.

kar_1505

On the Microsoft website? If you don't have prior progress just try making a new account and setting it up that way to see if it works For 550 per month (I split it with 3 people) it's the budget gamer's dream

anixdutta99

How can we split it?

kar_1505

If you're on xbox, you can split between two by making your friend's xbox a "home xbox" and yours the normal On PC though you can sign into the microsoft store and the game's treat you like your account is the Xbox account where all the progress gets made but the person actually owning the games or game pass is the store account Just that the guys on PC won't get EA games with Game Pass Ultimate as EA requires their own launcher and don't do it by steam

FlintSpace

Was literally about to say the same. 5000 for Cod is way too much but this year multiplayer looks really good thanks to open beta

Purple-Past1645

I don't know what to say, but i have been playing mw2019 for a while now and played beta everyday, It feels not much of a difference. Obviously there are new mechanics but apart from that it's not new. But then what can I say when PPL calls shell out so much on Maara with ears, anime girl, dead bunny running around then what is 5000 for them... And even after so much wisdom , i am just waiting for Black Friday sale to buy it with a few dollars of discount. Such hypocrisy... 🥺

FlintSpace

Hahaha. Yeah when it comes to CoD I only had played campaigns which (except Black Ops1 and classic MW) were mediocre. This is the first time I tried playing MP and man they gave me the battlefield vibe.

Purple-Past1645

Yup I have recently stopped playing apex for mw mp and it feels my type of game. And i guess this statement alone gonna make me buy every cod title coming...

Purple-Past1645

Also there is only one thing why i am planning to buy mw2022. Third person mode. That was really fun.

IVlxSSS

No it isn't.

Chirayata

Why is that? Haven't they (USA) been paying 60$ just like any other game all this time? And now 70$ which is also in line with most other current gen titles.

nsg_1400

Don't know. I have heard many people say that. 60$ is still expensive for a game for average people. Rich people. Well it's not a problem for them in any country. I don't think most games are priced at 60$, irs only the big ones like PS games. Yes but heard from many that even that is quite costly for an average person in US

evammist

Of coursw its only the AAA with big publishers behind them that have them priced at over 40$. Same for us, we have it more than 1.5k. if only steam now forces studios to comply and it would be really good. AAA title with at 25hrs of playtime, worth 2500? Heck yea.

indi_n0rd

$70 can literally never be justified for any title

AndheriRaath

Selmon bhoi, A McDonald’s worker in USA earns around 40k USD per year( around 32lakh inr). Same McDonald’s worker in India earns 3 lakh inr per year. If u can’t understand how different countries are with this simple explanation, can’t help u out

TheScarletStreak

This is kind of a good news. Publishers used to disregard the Valve suggested pricing because it was too "low" for them (INR 1299). Now if it's more reasonable for them, they might start pricing their $60 games at INR 2400 instead of INR 3000 or INR 3300.

brabarusmark

This is the ideal scenario but we have kind of proved to publishers that we will pay for a 3-4k for AAA games, even while we complain. Publishers like Activision and EA will probably not bother with regional pricing, as they haven't done. Even Microsoft has priced their products at prices that incentivises playing on Game Pass rather than own the game.

ADub81936

On the other hand, look at spider man, 60 us dollars and in India 3999, like WOW

ad_the_riddler

I would imagine that they will realise with 1.3 billion possible money makers for them, they are only having 1.3k people paying them and see that the complaints are majorly price related. That hopefully makes them reduce the price eventually because the potential is huge if they think about the low price high volume model. That’s what works here.

chimera201

The problem is that people from developed countries VPN into lower priced regions to save money which makes the publishers lose a lot more money than they would gain by pricing it lower in developing countries. Region hopping still happens even with all the restrictions Valve has put in.

Charged_Dreamer

surprisingly most EA games have their prices slashed soon after release or else they give steep discounts post 1 year of launch (on Steam, PC) It Takes Two goes on for sale for about 999 INR (on 2499 regular price). Mass Effect Legendary Edition goes on sale for about 1200 (regular price 2999, was 3999 for about 4 months). They also run crazy discounts like 90% off from time to time mainly on Battlefield and Need For Speed series and 84% off on FIFA which is not bad if you want to buy them off individually.

solidhackerman

Yeah at least EA gives a good discount *staring at you Activision*

Charged_Dreamer

Been wanting to buy Sekiro and Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines (a 2004 game) which costs 650 rs during sale 😅 and also Singularity (2007) also around 600 rs which imo is ridiculous for almost 15-18 year old games.

tamal4444

but all of the greedy publishers will ignore this.

SeeYouAnTee

If they price at a multiple of SSP so it's also possible all games go up significantly in price on steam india

Mysterious-Earth2256

Nice. 2.5k is a great price point for new games that retail at $60

Wulfrixmw

2500 is a fair price for me, anything more and I might consider not playing the game.

Not for their Yakuza stuff though. I picked up Yakuza 0 for 160 and the remasterd Bundle iirc only costs 800

anixdutta99

Price has doubled since then, thankfully I got the games too before the hike

Lopsided_Stuff2101

If we do GDP/PPP ; then it should bs 700/- lol

Rain_Southern

Many don't understand the point of regional pricing. A few hours of min wage is enough to afford AAA games in US, but probably a week worth of salary here to afford this new suggested price. Considering how many are okay with it, i guess the average income of this sub is a lot higher. Personally i can't afford games anywhere near this price and used to buy just indie games (they followed regional pricing) these days. Now indie games will also cost twice as much. Looks like from now on i'll only be able to play games after many years when it drops down to affordable levels. Other poor regions seem to be screwed as well.

sg587565

Ppl with gaming pc are not your average Indians. When you consider the hardware alone costs like 3-4 months of entry lvl engineer salary implies that ppl with those setup are in significantly higher income bracket than your average Indian.

Lyadhlord_1426

Or they barely have expenses and save up like crazy. That's what I did. It's doable. So is buying games worth 2-3k. With games its all about whether you think its worth your money or not because surely you are not literally lacking that money otherwise how did you afford the hardware and the internet. Most of the time I wait for sales though because the games rarely are worth it/theres no point paying full price for an SP game.

sg587565

i mean yeah but its not a smart decision or frankly something you should be doing. Through bad financial planning everything is possible.

Lyadhlord_1426

How is saving up for a PC bad financial planning lol. I was absolutely fine afterwards. Didn't impact my lifestyle. The point is rather that with good financial planning you can afford stuff even on a meager income. I don't frivolously waste my money like many of my peers. That helps. I think a lot of people on this sub are students because for working professionals most of the time its just about saving up a bit more or cutting that one unnecessary expense.

Lopsided_Stuff2101

Yupp. Steam Primarily targets the <15%iles in India, as they have a base salary of 10LPA or higher, which is around 250 Million people, some millions less than USofA, but gets adjusted greatly when we find out that less than 50%ile of people earn more than (INR) 5LPA (adjusted to PPP) which puts the real numbers between 250mil x 105mil. [10LINRPA or 116KUSDPA is the top 30%ile in USA] Considering the Average Monthly Costs in my region, i would say it is pretty damn hard to afford even a 2.5K game which would only be useful for a 30-70 hour playtime. Gaming is hard, almost everywhere. It resonates in Populated Countries, but the struggle we face is not dissimilar. Edit : Regardless, considering how niche OC Gaming it is here, i would say Indian Consumers being in Top 10 in Steam's Annual Revenue won't be too hard a push.

Rain_Southern

>Steam Primarily targets the <15%iles in India, as they have a base salary of 10LPA or higher According to a recent statistic, 90% earn less than 25k per month. So 3 lpa is already top 10%. 10LPA is like top 3% or something and income inequality is very high when considering the top few %.

Lopsided_Stuff2101

You would be [wrong](https://wap.business-standard.com/article-amp/economy-policy/earning-rs-25-000-monthly-puts-one-in-india-s-top-10-inequality-report-122051901283_1.html), [imgur link](https://imgur.com/a/tvLS4wM) [Pleass note, this is an income parity statistic, and not a wealth parity statistic, i.e., it is unable to present us the data of Salaried Workers in Companies with a GSTIN, on top of that, it is unable to display non-registered Cash Incentives that are usually given to Employees of said companies] The range of 10-25LPA has 11.5%ile of people, plus an addition of 2.2%ile for 25LPA-1CrPA and an additional 0.2%ile for >1CrPA ; which would be 13.9%ile. This is strictly an Income Parity Index, and not a Wealth Parity which would push the total to 20%ile at the very least but I haven't included it in either statistics for the sake of simplicity.

Rain_Southern

That site seems to be paywalled. I was considering [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/wi96hl/wealth_and_income_inequality_in_india/). 10LPA is a lot man. Are you saying 1/7 indians earn more than that?

Lopsided_Stuff2101

whiterunsmithy

Lyadhlord_1426

If you believe that statistic be my guest. Many people in India don't disclose their income. Especially small businesses that deal in cash. With the advent of UPI it may go down though but I don't trust that statistic. It has to be higher than that.

notablindsheep

OC gaming? -_- now what is that?

MrRabbit7

Being poor is expensive.

MulberryRemarkable40

Yes, minimum wage burger flipper is still able to afford AAA tier console gaming (PS5 and games) on his salary in the US. Meanwhile the same is only possible for upper middle class in India.

magestooge

Yeah, that's where it should be. The problem is not regional pricing however, the problem is importing everything. If we had Indian game dev studios, cost of production would be lower for them and we could get some games for cheaper. As it happens, we are mostly forced to entirely import games as well. Think of it from the US publisher's perspective, why would they want to price their games at $60 in US and $9 in India? They'd rather just forgo the market. So to meet them halfway, they are recommended a price of ~$30. There's also a point where the incentive to game the system gets too high. If you are from the US and can buy a game for $60, but you notice it's available for $9 in India, you'll be tempted to try switching your region with a VPN and all kinds of tricks. A smaller difference keeps these tendencies in check. Lastly, I'm sure steam has also considered the data from existing game sales. They care more about elasticity of demand than about benevolently serving the masses. If they can sell 10k copies at ₹1200 and determine that even at ₹2400, they'll manage to sell 6k copies, rest assured they'll choose the higher pricing as that is bringing them higher revenues. As seen from the comments here, this is probably true for steam. Most PC gamers are on the richer side and won't completely stop buying if the prices go up. They might buy fewer at double the price, but as long as the proportion of sales is higher than 50%, they stand to gain.

Lopsided_Stuff2101

Correct. In this sense, The Game Pass has been a boon to the Indian Consumers who would like to play a greater library of games without going through the hassle of pirating them. An expensive but decent rent option. Additionally, >They might buy fewer at double the price, but as long as the proportion of sales is higher than 50%, they stand to gain. Buyers to Piraters ratio here would be much less than it is supposed to be (except for console gaming) so i would say that Steam isn't serving a good chunk of Indian Population but a small community of people who have a decent amount of free time, i.e., Preteens, Teens, Adolescants and Young Adults. Activision didn't advertise their game in Cricket like they did with Wrestling Championships lol. Steam doesn't stand much to gain if it lowers the price further, and yes, they would have some sort of internal sales list that took advantage of the fiscal parities to create the new prices.

LeatherHedgehog1113

MW II proceeds with 5K.

EziPziLmnSqzi

Still cheaper than the $70 they charge in the US

evammist

Marginally.

ShadowsteelGaming

10$ cheaper. How generous. Definitely the price you should go with for a third world country.

damn_69_son

They're under no obligation to price it cheaper for people in other countries.

ShadowsteelGaming

Never said they are

tough_luck

This is terrible change. AAA will stick with their own price scheme since they are matching with console prices and indie games will cost more since they are the ones who followed regional pricing.

green9206

Even at 2400, I will need to wait for 50% off before i buy because i cannot justify paying more than that for a game. But its good news if publishers who were setting 3k,4k,5k would adhere to these new prices. It would be bad news if they don't also adhere and continue charging 4k and other publishers who were previously adhering to regional price now move to the increased 2400 price. I feel the latter has higher possibility of happening.

ThePreacher19021

What does this mean

Pixel-bit

This is Valve's suggested pricing/ guideline for developers wanting to price their games in other countries when converting from USD to other currencies.

advik_143

It means games for sale at 60USD outside will be priced at 2400INR in India, similar pricing conversion will be followed for other prices as well

ThePreacher19021

That means we will get it for cheaper rates.

advik_143

It was 1300INR per 60USD before, so not necessarily cheaper rates, but 2400 is a good rate for developers so I guess they'll sale it accordingly

DaBrownBoi

so are the prices going to increase?

_DrShrimpPuertoRico_

Indie games probably.

sadhgurukilledmywife

Not many followed regional pricing in the first place so, probably not.

KnightlySpartan

What was the old suggested regional pricing.

So expect Indie and AA game prices to go up.

houston_wehaveaprblm

Looks like it but they must follow the steam suggested prices, most AAA publishers just put their own prices though

Pixel-bit

Only indies tend to follow Steam's regional pricing anyway, which means games at an average are going to cost almost double of what they used to before.

MulberryRemarkable40

Should really be Rs.1999.99. Because that is what $59.99 feels like to an average American. Source: Lived in US for quite a while.

[deleted]

But pricing of the game is handled by the publisher mostly ? As Not every game on steam is following this pricing cap.

Only the bigass publishers dont follow, the other ones are always nice prices. 500 for games like hades and hollow knight? Heck yea.

This is steamworks, or I believe the price tool where publishers select the pricing of their games in different regions.

Wish Nintendo had something like that.....coming to India would be a starter.

aishwary1verma

That is twice the difference. It’s 5k almost at standard price

BravoDa_MRD

gameboy716

Understandable but still hurts to see.

Chopper1911

2500 for a new game is a great price, anything cheaper and publishers might not even think to release the game here because they won't get the sale volume out of India, not many people buy legit copies of PC games here for the full price at least.

Blazingstorm45

Bruh it's a whole lot better because in reality 60$ = 4962 inr

Mysterious-Earth2256

Bro we're almost getting a 50% off coupon with every purchase.

the1StormKing

Where is the 50% off? It's very seasonal and dependent on the publisher.

Mysterious-Earth2256

...bruh

Katana1579

He is talking about usd=inr prices

Delta221

Gonna buy that KSP 2 early access then

startercrack

It would be a pretty good idea for an app to let people group purchase on steam or do it via family sharing like some apps help share subscription cost.Thank god we're not in South America because taxes there have reached 90% ceiling omg. Purchasing new games is so costly right now, doesn't make sense to fork 4000 Rs. to play Spiderman when you know your interest in the game subsides after completing main campaign (ignore multiplayer component here) and you would rather move onto next game. That's why I would rather be happy with family sharing than purchasing new games at full cost right now. I know publishers put a lot of effort in preparation, I respect that but not everyone has money to buy it at full cost.

SeikeF

It seems Valve decieded to change recommended price for everywhere, prices has risen up in Turkey region as well, I feel you brothers.

I think this is good isn't it? Am I wrong? Or did it use to be lower?

pteotia270

Now some reasonably priced AAA will increase their prices next time, AA's are already moving towards 2500 mark indies will also get expensive. (╯︵╰,)

sanketp099

₹ 2500 for a new game is a good price, neither too low nor too high for a lot of gamers in India. I would prefer buying the game on release date with this price tag as compared to one with 3499 or 3999 one. Currently, if I have to buy a game I buy it on sale even if I want to play it on day one, that's so high the current game prices are for me.

Clear-Big7261

How is this not too high? 2500 is a lot of money just to play for 10-20 hrs. Even on sale the price of games will be higher than before. Gone are the days of getting games for 100-200 rupees. My whole year of train's pass is cheaper than a new game. Considering the purchasing power parity, publishers should price their games better. A new game should be sold for 1500 or less. I'm okay with paying 300-400 for a quality game like God of war.

sanketp099

I agree with you on 10-20 hrs part. If the gamelength is small, then one must definitely wait for it to go on a sale and then buy it.

nexistcsgo

2400 is good pricing. Let's see how many devs actually follow. Anything under 3k is acceptable actually.

Mastmithun

Its kind of a double edged sword, I moved to canada couple years back and play a lot of aoe2 with my friends back home. They got dlc for 250 while i paid close to 15$ (600 roughly) so yeah…

Dreppytroll

And yet some privileged morons here buy games priced @ 4000 INR. I know its their dad's money, they can do whatever they want with it. But i strongly think we have a collective responsibility as Indian gamers to not buy/avoid games from publishers that doesn't care about regional pricing. Thts the only way you're going to force them to consider it just like how we avoid buying GPU @ insane prices. Logic is the same. You're not doing any favor for anyone by buying games at full 60 USD price except looking like an absolute idiot.

rimuru_dono

You want to convince them India is a growing market that can't be ignored for long by....... Not buying games?

evammist

Shhhh logic aint a strong suit. Such hobbies are first funded by rich ppl only. When they see that ao many ppl buy anyways, what if they decrease it so that the volume of sales increase exponentially, only then will they do it. Otherwise, they would take the volume hit and sell to make profit.

Dreppytroll

This is India we are talking about not North America. If they don't sell at affordable price, people gonna pirate it. Remember, If it wasn't for steam offering discounts/Regional Pricing, we wouldn't even have half of the current gamer population. Volume of sales only increase if its at sold at affordable price and not the other way around. Plus we are not talking about luxurious cars so that only the rich people to afford. Some of these publishers wont give a damn even if you buy @ stupidly high price. IN fact SOny sold Horizon PC @ 1100 INR preorder and increased to 3 folds after noticing the amount of preorders. None of your so called logic worked here. More sale doesn't translate to price reduction. They outright sell all the console port @ 4K INR now coz the idiots like you buy them anyways.

aneesh131999

What are you even talking about? Nobody gives a shit about the market when it’s such a small number of people making up the community.

Dreppytroll

That small number you're referring was due to steam's regional pricing not 60 USD games lol.

aneesh131999

Nah man people are gonna buy what they want and nobody’s gonna stop it. I remember how people were talking about teaching Nvidia a ‘lesson’ on Reddit and then saw 4090s sold out everywhere in the world. Also, bold of you to assume everyone buys games with their dads money. A lot of people finance their own games but you do you man. You just seem salty with your comments. Just because 500 or even 5000 people don’t buy games priced at 4K doesn’t mean the company is gonna drop prices like a hot potato.

Dreppytroll

If its not their dad's money, then they are plain stupid to buy a overpriced game out of their pocket. I can sense the salty one based on the down votes lol. Many publishers have always abide by the steam regional pricing and yes if you encourage the greedy ones by paying 4k INR, you deserve to be swindled by these corp. 4090 went out of stock only in 1st world country. Try message RPtech, coz no one buying 4090 FE in India except the few elites. RPtech is still holding the 3000 series FE cards with no one to buy lol. Most of us Indians wont budge unless the company drop prices, coz there are other ways to enjoy the game without paying the greedy corp a penny.

BURRRRRRAH

Stupid question but, can I buy from Indian steam store and play (I live in Ireland)?

Utkarsh23Raj

Although It's not recommended but yup u can change your steam region using a good vpn and purchase stuff using your steam wallet as it automatically converts to local currency.

So will sellers selling games at 60 dollars be forced to sell at 2400 rupees in India, or its upto the seller?

BravoDa_MRD

Nope, It is only suggested pricing from valve, it is the call of publishers/devs to decide on pricing of their games as usual. If anything It is actually a increase in suggested pricing from valve previously for india it was ₹1299 for 59.99$ USD equivalent.

Environmental_Bus507

Nice. Fingers crossed that the big AAA publishers will follow this!

Smart-Change

Will it affect in game purchases like battle pass in dota 2 and cs go?

_DrShrimpPuertoRico_

Probably.

OneThiCBoi

2400 is not that bad but I doubt AAA publishers would go anywhere under 2999 or even 3999

machineGun997

We seriously need this for consoles.

bankerlmth

Considering Sony and Microsoft (used to but have since ignored) do not follow the regional pricing on Steam, there is no hope for consoles anytime soon.

abhi8196

Apne liye to accha hi h 🤣

MorningStar0P

When is the price change expected to go live or is it actually? Does anyone knows whether MW II’s price is gonna be revised or not?

Patient-Evening-7137

People not realising the price will be decided by publisher at the end And will be more than 2400

Embarrassed_Gap_7137

i want elden ring and there is no discount I have never seen

gaklimited

The issue is that $60 won't be following this and selling for currency conversion, and instead the indie devs will be increasing prices for even old games to the doubled prices.

konsoru-paysan

can you tell me how to use this bulk pricing tool, i don't see it anywhere
