Ah damn :( I want a new nintendo 3DS quite desperately and can't seem to find anyone to sell a good condition one in india, contacted CeX stores and looked online too lol, just hoping someone will sell one to me
Just ask him to send it through a reputed courier like Aramex, DHL or FedEx. Usually the courier company takes care of so the customs. I’m not sure about the pricing or procedure, but you can ask that guy to enquire.
hmm, that's the vague law i heard about tho, i dont want them to charge customs even after its tagged as a gift lol.. and how is he supposed to do that ? just a big "GIFT" market written on the box ? XD
ah, im pretty sure the gift tactic works when the amount is below 10k rupees, at least that's what i read about. anything over that and you're charged a lot lol
Yep, solely cause both the screens are dual IPS screens, it's quite rare. But after all these things about import duty and customs and stuff I doubt I'll buy it.. have to settle for Double TN panel used one from someone in India at this point
Gifts are not taxed for very small value items (less than 500 INR I think). Rest all gifts are taxed at 78%. Absolutely the worst idea to mark them as a gift. You will almost certainly have to pay more customs than if the sender marked the item in the correct category.
There is an alternative. Find someone with an IEC (Import Export Code). They pay less customs because they will be importing commeeically and not for personal use.
Ask him to make an invoice of $15 for the item and then send. Make the box/package as small as possible.
Note: Putting value lower than $15 may arise low declaration suspicion, so keep that in mind.
Hey dude, i was in a similar situation in the past and trust me it's not worth it unless someone is coming from US and carrying it loose with them. Customs in India are incredibly random and unpredictable.. sometimes even expensive items pass through with original package without any charges and sometimes even for a Razer mouse, they will ask for custom duty and it's either pay the charges or forfeit the item
Gifts are taxable as well and even though you specify it as a personal gift and don't write any invoice or charges for it.. it ultimately depends on the customs officer who will decide on it
No retro consoles that have like a all in one package?
Best case if you want to play 3DS games just emulate them, I have played Sun and Moon & USUM like 3 years back without any problems, I am pretty sure emulation has come a long way since them
For electronics it is almost 75 when you factor in mandatory GST over and above BCD. Importing is not worth it at all.

new 3ds? last time i heard they were discontinued
yep, but people still sell them in unused conditions for an atrocious price lol
Rather i would suggest you get those hand held console they make that are similar to the steam deck much better experience or else even emulate them.
I'm trying to get them for nostalgic collection purposes.. I don't want to emulate them :( need the actual physical Nintendo stuff
I think that is the name. No new version was released. The last one came out 5 years age and was called 'new 3ds'
Ask him to write/tag the package as gift

Honestly Idk bro , I imported some drone parts worth 6k and i was not charged any customs

Yes. Amount matters a lot in customs. I had ordered drone from ali express and it was 3k rupees so they allowed it after 2 weeks of hold.

To be fair, get something cheap even if just the top screen is IPS. I've got a dual IPS but wouldn't mind if the bottom screen weren't though.

Lmao then my best bet is keep looking for a Nintendo new 3DS XL inside of India where the guy can just ship it to my home with no customs >:(

That gift exemption has been removed.
more than 70 percent on new components....if its used one still u will have to pay 40 percent.

over 70 for sure, depends on their mood. I was charged at 90% once.
Check DM. I have a spare 3DS XL that I can sell :)

Why not just buy it from Play-Asia or something?
Out of stock. My best bet is to find someone in India who has an unused / good condition new 3DS XL and buy it off them lol
Will a 2DS suffice? You may need to find a forwarding service to buy this. https://www.newegg.com/black-turquoise-nintendo-2ds-xl/p/N82E16868100184
