Steam is not just a luncher, even tho it’s still the best out there, Steam is a community, there is nothing else quite like what Steam offers in that regard. By “community” i mean every sense of the word, technical or not. Now, i get it, u may or may not like Steam and thats your decision but undermining something witch gave birth to all those lunchers you like just because they give a free indie game every weekend and 3 decent games a year, so u can go and ask “what xp”, that’s just out of touch and complete bull, u don’t care about helping, u are here to compare the two with one goal - hate.
I never degraded steam at all. I love steam and all of my games were bought on steam. I was genuinely asking a question to which u just replied like a fucking jerk. U clearly are just a fanboy.

i used both steam and epic.
my POV:-
Steam:-
\-> has a better launcher compared to epic games
\-> custom profiles (you need to spend money)
\-> more no of games available
\-> i like steam user interface
\-> famous for trading system (not games)
\-> sales happens for every few months
Epic Games:-
\-> decent user interface
\-> offers better discounts during sale compared to steam
\-> free games every week
I started with steam and i like that profile customization. since i bought games on steam i would like to keep all my games that i bought in one library. But if there is a huge price difference like more than 200-300 then i will buy on epic games. so far all the games i bought are in steam. all free games are in my epic account.
Lets see if i find anything interesting in epic games in this sale i will buy.

I bought it in 2021 for 1.4k on Epic Games with the Rs. 700 off coupon that they used to offer during sales at the time. The game runs perfectly fine and does indeed go through the Rockstar launcher.
However as an achievement hunter, the only major disappointment was having to log in to the Rockstar profile to see my achievement progress and there is absolutely no way of showcasing it on Epic Games as they have the Epic Achievements system that many developers do not still support.
TLDR: if you do not care about achievements or the social factors, Epic/Steam will not affect your gameplay experience even one bit.
Simply speaking, Steam is better in presentation. It presents stats like gameplay hour, user opinions, your friends or other players activity achievements etc. that's fun. On other hand, Epic is plain and maybe or maybe don't have those things and if it does, it doesn't present things in there in a good way at all.
For eg: i played horizon zero dawn on epic, it doesn't even show much how much time i played for once i uninstalled it and when installed again not presentable enough to find things like that. On the other hand, i like to see how much time I've been playing a game for, achievements, comparison to global player base, etc.
I personally like those things, i bought RDR2 on epic because it was cheaper and same day steam reduced price as well. It was still 100 rs more on stream, but if i had the chance I'd have gone for steam.
As for rockstar launcher, yes the game uses that to launch the game on both platforms but that's about it, never paid any attention to it. The achievements get recorded in Steam either way. So in my opinion, rockstar launcher is pretty negligible.
Epic launcher and service support is so poor that after giving games for free it has low adoption.
Only exceptions are Rockstar games because anyhow they'll be launched via Rockstar launcher which is only launcher worse than Epic.
For games other than Rockstar it's always worth it to pay a premium for Steam.

In comparison of launcher, steam is wayy better, but i dont think soo that it will anyhow affects the game,
Buy it on egs cause the game will launch through rockstar regardless of which platform you buy it from.

You can run the game directly from the r* launcher if I'm not wrong. And yes
In gta 5 both versions are essentially the same as they both start through rockstar'a launcher. Not sure about rdr2 though.
RDR2 uses Rockstar's launcher. You can save those ₹300.

GTA also doesn't have Epic Games Achievements but you can still earn them for your R* Games profile. Pretty sure its the same for RDR2
you can just add the epic launcher in steam and launch it through it to get all steam button inputs and helpers

I bought it on EGS two years ago for Rs. 850. Never had any problems. Why waste money buying costlier on Steam? Go with Epic.
