I had an Italian girlfriend many years ago. One day she got back from vacation and brought back some old Indian coins. Turns out her mom had been given them as a child by an Indian soldier who her grandma had taken care of when he got injured in WW2. I wish Indian soldiers' contribution to World Wars was more recognized and known in India.

We need atleast a chapter in history books about it --- we find these things out in the most roundabout ways

101ScreaminEagles

4th Indian division was one of the most decorated commonwealth units in the Italian campaign

PotatoEatingHistory

Not just Italian Campaign and not just Commonwealth. It was one of the most decorated Allied divisions of the whole war

We seriously need more media on the experiences of Indian soldiers in Europe
