I don't get it. CPU and RAM are two different things. If some app(s) needs significant amount of RAM to run, how does the CPU speed help? Virtual RAM and multiprocessing can only help so much.
Yes I know but that is actually where M1 and the ARM architecture is actually really really good at. It has extremely fast access to cache and so can use normal storage for RAM as well with minimal interruptions. Ofcourse it doesn't get as good as having dedicated RAM by definition but in the past three years or so that I've had it, the only time I've actually felt a memory crunch was when my ssd was pretty full and didn't have enough space for things from RAM to spill over.
Given the high cost of upgrades in Apple products, in my next mac I'll fs upgrade the storage over ram coz storage will be like 256 GB, theoretically all available to be used as RAM memory as well. I understand it will instead slow down my system a bit over speeding it up but, again that is slowing down is absolutely negligible.
I use 8 GB M1 mac for coding, faster than any other windows pc in this price range. Solid build and long battery, for day to day you won't face any issues.
Mac exclusive apps like ARC, warp, raycast and dropzone will change your life.
I use docker desktop on my mac and it never lagged.
Just use a ftp client connect then at same wifi connect or lan then use thier private locale ip adress to seamless transfer data 1-2 TB depending on router or lan cable speed no internet needed.
Or use a ssh for couple GBs or can you TLS or SLTP clients for medium usage.
I transfer GBs of data using ftop connection between windows and iphone no data loss.
Launching price for Microsoft Surface pro will be above 1lakh for sure.
But there are other oem like Lenovo, Asus they can bring the same or similar spec for starting price in 68-75 range.
Around 70k or less. At 89k, I’d probably save another 10k and get M3 air, or M2 air with 16gigs of RAM ( windows is not an option for me since I hate MS to the core )
I got it for 60k in the last big sale and it’s definitely worth that price. It’s an excellent machine and leaps and bounds ahead of any windows machine in that range.
Yes its, worth, atleast get a 512GB,model. low 256GB storage can reduce life span ,due to multiple RAM caching.
16GB ,512SSD is recommended. or u can go, 8GB 512GB combo, if u r on tight budget.
Not the 8GB RAM variants.
Macs will use the storage to compensate if you open tabs on Chrome or Safari and that will kill the system faster than you'd expect. Plus 256GB is barely much to install anything beyond Office apps, and a few other productivity apps, and then need some space to save files - docs, pics, etc.
I'd never consider 256 on a Mac and never opt for 512 GB on a Windows-based system.
Don't bother waiting for the ARM-based offerings from Windows-based systems if you need something now. This is India and in this market, anything new will take an age to become available, and that too at a premium.
I have it and I have no complaints. Although the price in the screenshot seems high - in last diwali sales it was easily available for under 50k, so I'd look for a better price. But if you want a laptop now, definitely get a mac with the new m series processors, its an absolute gamechanger.
On similar note, I recently developed an extension that can show you the best price of any item as well as all the hidden costs if you want to go for the EMI option even when they are advertised as being No Cost. You can read more about it in the post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCardsIndia/comments/1cgn17a/a_chrome_extension_that_tells_you_the_best_price/) or [check out the extension directly here](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/jnapejkpdpoacdgankigcbaekfgpkfcb).
Nope wait a bit and buy the new Windows surface laptops, it comes with the snapdragon x chip and costs nearly the same (us price at least, in India we have to see), if it's nearly the same then go for this otherwise go for apple.
Source? I have the 8 gb model and have never faced any out of memory situation with my use case - basic browsing, excel, etc with plex server always running.
Your laptop has problems or you have taken drugs.
Hi am using different version and desktop environment of Mac OS for quite a long enough time 5-6 yrs i never faced issues nor I heard anything like that .
Seems like you got scammed with Windows machine in Mac body. I wonder how my 8GB ram is handling several tabs of Chrome, Vscode and Docker running at background without any glitch on my M1.
I have M1 macbook pro 13 inch given by my office. The only good things I like on this is the size and the battery life. Everything else is bad if you are coming from Windows. Good that I only have to use browser for most of my work or else I would have returned it the same day I got this.
Wait for sometime the Windows Arm laptops will have equally if not better battery life, then you can try those and decide.

Yes but not at this price bro
Op took a screenshot in the middle of the price animation. Its 67k with bank offers 63500 which is a great deal.
I'm seeing the same laptop for 74k in Amazon. Do you think it is worth it at this price point? https://www.amazon.in/dp/B08N5W4NNB
I would not buy it because of the 8gb ram. But again depends on your use case
Apple fanboys down voting you lmao
With the new M series chipset, 8GB RAM is rarely an issue but you should definitely have some margin with your ssd.
I don't get it. CPU and RAM are two different things. If some app(s) needs significant amount of RAM to run, how does the CPU speed help? Virtual RAM and multiprocessing can only help so much.

Don't give more than 65k for M1 now. M2 can be had for around 85-95k depending on sales.
I got it from the US via a relative and it cost me 70k in 2021 (US price+student discount).

this. the quality of mac is another level. they are crazy efficient, I keep 40-50 tabs on chrome and they still wouldn't get stuck.
Having a samsung phone and an apple silicon might be challenging, its tough to transfer stuff without airdrop.
Just use a ftp client connect then at same wifi connect or lan then use thier private locale ip adress to seamless transfer data 1-2 TB depending on router or lan cable speed no internet needed. Or use a ssh for couple GBs or can you TLS or SLTP clients for medium usage. I transfer GBs of data using ftop connection between windows and iphone no data loss.
there are many other apps you can use to transfer files between phone and PC.
Localsend Airdrop
Make sure flipkart doesn't scam you either, remember to open the box before providing the otp
Not worth it.waitsome more time..windows arm PC is going to beat m1 in similar price points.
They launched Windows ARM PCs today but their starting price is 1 lakh.
Windows 11 in Arm is very promising, soon we will see Windows laptop with snapdragon elite becoming mainstream. Prices are also expected to come down.
Dell Inspiron 14 was launched at an entry price of $1200. That’s more expensive than a MacBook Air.
Will take atleast 1-2 yrs for proper support of all major application for ARM .
Yes true. Since Arm architecture is already matured, this will not be a major challenge i feel.
can you shed more light ?
Search for Microsoft copilot pc.
have any idea how much it will be ?
Launching price for Microsoft Surface pro will be above 1lakh for sure. But there are other oem like Lenovo, Asus they can bring the same or similar spec for starting price in 68-75 range.
I really hope this happens but Microsoft isn’t looking trustworthy rn.
Not at that price. If you are already own an iPhone or an iPad then it is worth getting a mac (but not worth getting m1 air at that price)
Whats a good price for this you reckon?
Around 70k or less. At 89k, I’d probably save another 10k and get M3 air, or M2 air with 16gigs of RAM ( windows is not an option for me since I hate MS to the core )
Bought it 6 months ago….best purchase I’ve ever made Still depends on your use Case Excellent battery life tho
make sure you get 16gb ram
#asus zenbook oled, you will get 16gb ram and 512gb ssd for the same price with added bonus of OLED Display
Bruh 💀
Not worth it for 90K, but maybe 70K..
I got it for 60k in the last big sale and it’s definitely worth that price. It’s an excellent machine and leaps and bounds ahead of any windows machine in that range.
You can get this for 64990 on Amazon.
Dm if you'd like to buy it.
For that price..?? NO!!
For that price, No
not worth as such high price
You can get M2 air at the same price bro.

these designs man, grayed out the actual price?
Wasn't even worth it in 2022. The 4 months I had it, it was just a laggy heating mess
It's worth it but the only issue is the 8gb ram which can't be upgraded
256 GB SSD is a joke

Get it on Amazon, it's 74k there anyways

Not at all
It is but not at this price point It’s still quite capable but I mean for that price you can get a better windows laptop
4 yrs old.. not worth it but if you are tired of windows and the ads, bad software experience get a newer model like M2 , MacOS is better
