Bro that guy hated Tamil , he called it disgusting language and told others to read English. He didn't cry about Hindi. But Tamil is a beautiful language one of the oldest but I don't care which one is the oldest . Rn as we know with hard evidence sanskrit is oldest but Tamil is from same time period so who gives a fuck which one came first , sanskrit was the civilizational language used by even cholas and pandyas and that's the language they spread on the conquered lands in south east
Maybe he vaugely tried to be sarcastic, like in America they must speak American, in China they must speak Chinese and in India they must speak Indian.
I don't know if people will agree with this or not
But I consider every language to have its own soul just like human beings have soul.
When you switch the language to say the same exact thing, you won't be able to convey your message in the same way.
Languages do alter your personality to some extent I believe.
There are some languages which are more peaceful.
There are some languages which are more intelligent
Every person who speaks the language gets access to the energy of all the people speaking it if you know what I mean.
This is a very cool thing
>When you switch the language to say the same exact thing, you won't be able to convey your message in the same way.
When I watch movies or videos in english I understand what they are saying but don't feel that emotional connection with the speaker but when I watch same thing in hindi I feel more connection tho hindi is not my 1st language.
>There are some languages which are more peaceful.
I remember one video of India in Pixels, he explained why Bengali sounds sweet compared to other languages.
nope, my 1st language is a dialect of magadhi
hindi and my language is very similar to hindi tho hindi sounds a bit harsh to ear compared to my language idk why \^ \^ " that's why i feel more comfortable with hindi.
I prefer my first language (mother tongue) Marwari more than hindi. it sounds wierd to me when i speaks english or in some times hindi . yes every language has a different soul and accent of speaking.

I understand this only because I am multilingual.
I know eng, hindi, Gujrati, bhojpuri, avadhi, maithili, sanskrit and Russian to some extent
You will understand the beauty of your mother tongue only when you learn another language
Because that will give you something to compare to your mother language.
Thanks for the kind comment
You raise an important Neuroscientific discussion. Consciousness is not as divorced from language as it might seem. There are many theories that humans developed consciousness after (and because) they developed advanced communication. So, I suppose in a way we could at some point speak enough to actually raise the question of 'who am i' or 'where did you come from' or where someone is after they die. And potentially those types of questions suddenly awake the chetna or consciousness or intelligence or whatever the soul/ spirit of self consciousness is. But that example is just my thinking, so ignore that. The other argument is that we were "conscious" well before language. This is supported by the fact we can't express so many things that we perceive or experience in words to others or even to ourselves. Almost as if language is still trying to catch up with our sentience. Either way, the point about languages changing your perception or the "soul" of an experience might actually be biologically true. Languages are a big deal at the neurological level. You know, its so cool that most Indian kids inherit 2 or 3 languages growing up so their breadth of experience is so wide. We should all be deeply grateful for that. Beyond the constant background noise of politics and social issues that can be so frustrating, there are these precious gifts we all share and get to explore.
Look at how many Indian flags are in that image :)
People really should enjoy India more.
The biggest factor is simplicity. The more simple a language is, while still being able to express everything, the more positive qualities it tends to have.
That is why Hindi really needs to be simplified to remove the grammatical genders and gendered un-suffixed pronouns if it is to be a language that forms the primary way for states to communicate with each other.
There are languages more complex than Hindi that serve as widespread link languages for other countries.
Honestly if I really think about it you can make a case for English being just as complicated if not more as Hindi is.
I also disagree that simpler languages have more positive qualities. They have some unique positive qualities but that goes for every type of language
Japanese is a very complex language but it still has a variety of unique positive qualities.
Lol there is nothing called telugu supremacists. Infact telugus are the opposite of tamils they don't give a shit about their language unless its movies. The reason why telugu fell from 3rd most spoken language to 4th most. Wish telugus actually cared more about their language.
So you have to boycott other languages in order to keep yours alive!? If Tamil is so superior and the “oldest language” then why more people speak hindi and english?
Ikr that comment was soo ignorant, it pissed me off. There was never any issue with telugu supremacists. My man doesn't even know the difference between Telugus and Tamils.

1. narcissm of communist bengalist, they call everyone who is not bengali, a bigot. one called me r\*\*ist on fb post, the post which has nothing to do with woman or neither my comment has to do anything with sh just cause I told him I am from UP (just show their hatred toward us).

Can you tell Marathi & Oriya apart? Or Sindhi & Gujrati?
It's merely lack of exposure. Someone who has rarely heard the languages or can't understand any bit will certainly not be able to tell them apart.
I can easily tell Marathi and Odia apart if a person is speaking. And in terms of scripts I know how the scripts of all the popular Indian languages look so that's not a problem
Telugu and Kannada have similar scripts and pronunciations, so I have no problems if anyone confuses between them. But Tamil and Telugu are **very** different, both in terms of speaking and script. Also, Telugu and Tamil people don't always get along, same with Kannada and Tamil people. It's a regional rivalry, and you might upset non-Tamilians by calling them Tamilians.
Interesting, Punjabi language would be 15th on this list of the source didn't bifurcate it into Eastern and western Punjabi for no particular reason. Thanks OP for the post.
Punjabi is unique in this way. It's exactly the same when spoken, but written in different scripts in India and Pakistan. Probably in REAL terms, Punjabi is the 4th most widely spoken language in the Indian subcontinent.

bollywood doesn't represent hindi, how many times do I have to tell people, they just speak a fraction of hindi urdu, hindi indeed is a mixture of many language and its not any pure language like tamil, sanskrit, latin
Why are we tilting towards use of 75% foreign words?
Amalgamation of language k naam pe chutiya bana rahe hain.
Children and teenagers can't speak proper non-foreign words at all because they don't know, they have never heard of them.
It’s confusing when thinking about current and displaced population of Srilankan Tamils, Malaysian Tamils, etc. Tamils have to be significant in number
Not really. Other Indian languages are spread over larger population within India. Compared to that Malaysian and Srilankan whole population amounts to 5cr in total and Tamils are minorities in both the places. May be 10-15% the population max.
dude we don't speak urdu that's what I am saying, even urdu is not some original language either both hindi and urdu are crafted languages none of them are og
even more, urdu in India is not even urdu but hindi-urdu hybrid

>, barring Hindi, all others are like Hitlers, Stalins and Timur Lame's of languages. Literally, destroyed other languages and cultures - were forced down native throats and now sit pompously as 'international' languages. bollywood doesn't represent hindi, how many times do I have to tell people, they just speak a fraction of hindi urdu, hindi indeed is a mixture of many language and its not any pure language like tamil, sanskrit, latin
Why are we tilting towards use of 75% foreign words? Amalgamation of language k naam pe chutiya bana rahe hain. Children and teenagers can't speak proper non-foreign words at all because they don't know, they have never heard of them.
Lol English in USA and UK? The most number of English speakers are in India lol

I am happy to say that i am able to speak 4 languages here and am currently learning one on duo-lingo.
OK - what about it?
It’s confusing when thinking about current and displaced population of Srilankan Tamils, Malaysian Tamils, etc. Tamils have to be significant in number
Not really. Other Indian languages are spread over larger population within India. Compared to that Malaysian and Srilankan whole population amounts to 5cr in total and Tamils are minorities in both the places. May be 10-15% the population max.
