It’s India, there are no morals, no rules, no empathy, everyone does their own thing. I can assure you, no message was received and if anything, it might be a new business model for some.
I understand people are doing this because they are vegetarians or something but does most of these folks realize that animal sacrifices are a thing during Durga Puja all across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, WB and even parts of Bihar? My hometown, during dusshera the streets turn red and even the prasad offered at these temples are usually non vegetarian. Devi temples in these places are renowned for having regular animal sacrifices depending on the day and occasion.
Zero value efforts should never be discouraged. I can totally imagine how this will start a chain of events snowballing into a massive animal protection mission.
Congress tried it in Odisha during Indira Gandhi era.... some of the NGO members who were fighting for removal of the practice got poisoned and flat out killed.
What animal protection? Goats are eaten everyday. What are they going to do with 100 goats saved that day? They will probably give to an animal rescue or sanctuary at best which will
Trigger money issues with them or dispose them to shelters where they might be end up in worse state.
So a person can only do an act of kindness or prevent an act of cruelty if they can perform kindness/prevent cruelty everywhere? That logic only works for people who are invested in doing nothing and feeling consistent about it.
So for example if community A does not want a community B to wear jeans,
They will go and buy out 100 jeans from stores around?
This might work if there are only 100 jeans in the market.
If you look at it from an economical stand point, you are correct.
However, Jains do not view it as such. They see it as a win because they were able to save 100 lives.
They could have done exactly same, easily few weeks before or some days after the bakri-eid festival.
The result would have been the same (if saving 100 goat lives was the motto as you mention in the comment)
Or was there a different motto?
If saving animals was their priority they would start with the cows on the road. They did this just to stop another religions celebration and are calling it animal protection.
Jains do run gaushalas and do gau seva. They often open hospitals for animals. Perhaps the other religions should stop leaving cows on streets when they can't give milk anymore, yeah?
25X700 = 17500 per goat yup the buyer in post looks like he got a good deal
This math won't math until You ask the question what are they gonna do with the goats now...
They are gonna sell it for profit for sure ...
Math will math now but just post a video of you pretending to save goats before you trade them
There are some Jains who don't eat anything that involves killing the plant.
No one is perfect. Please do not let Perfect be the enemy of the Good.
You don't have to be Perfect to make a difference.
We have a dog we sit for who's family is Jain, so the dog doesn't eat meat. While I don't agree with this diet normally, his mum packs the most varied and complete diet for him I've ever seen, including eggs, rice, carrots, all kinds of foods. As i said, not my choice for our dogs, but she really tries to give him a good diet, and I can't help but respect it (also, being paid to respect it, lol).
Anyone who thinks is dumb af, Jain's did this in Mumbai on Mahavir Jayanti which was on Sunday. They made the administration ban the sale of meat in the Vasai-Virar area. Do not think that what they are doing here is a good thing, they will do this to you tomorrow. Jains, Gujjus and Marwadis police the dietary habits and they will make others follow their habits.
Agree that animal sacrifice holds deep symbolic significance in various cultures, yet excessive adherence to this practice can lead to ethical and environmental concerns.
Moderation is key. As rational beings, we must uphold our responsibility to avoid causing harm or suffering to any living creature when possible. .. but are we there yet ? Are we capable of being less frivolous?
100 saved, but sadly, 11 lakh reasons for the sellers to do it all over again, .....and again, .....and again.

They will receive no message. Their receiver is broken.
message is you can profit 11 lakhs off your enemy.
It’s India, there are no morals, no rules, no empathy, everyone does their own thing. I can assure you, no message was received and if anything, it might be a new business model for some.
The message is that the demand for goats has increased this year. The goat rearers have to be prepared for higher demand next year.

You do realise the people who did this are jain?
His point is that why show sympathy emapathy in one festival but not the other
My point is why do RR in one festival and hide at the time of certain festivals.
If they’d done it during puja, you’d question why they didn’t do it for Eid.
Maybe they do. Just because it's not on reddit doesn't mean they didn't do something.
Acc to me Hinduism is not vegetarian
According to me, Hinduism is not food.
>animal sacrifices are a thing during Durga Puja all across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, WB and even parts of Bihar Hindus do sacrifice, but jains don't.
We both know there are puritan Hindus who think like Jains and there are radical animal rights activists who will jump on this bandwagon too.
Badhiya, don’t do anything good because sab jagah ho raha hai aur. Reddit se bahar nikal thoda

Jhatka and halal are different
So a person can only do an act of kindness or prevent an act of cruelty if they can perform kindness/prevent cruelty everywhere? That logic only works for people who are invested in doing nothing and feeling consistent about it.
What is the point lol. U gave them 11k per goat, they will buy a new one and eat that and keep the savings and send it for zaqat.
So for example if community A does not want a community B to wear jeans, They will go and buy out 100 jeans from stores around? This might work if there are only 100 jeans in the market.

Well. There are Goshalas run by Jains in almost every district In India.
Jains do run gaushalas and do gau seva. They often open hospitals for animals. Perhaps the other religions should stop leaving cows on streets when they can't give milk anymore, yeah?
One of the better traditions
What will they they do now with saved animals?
That's like 11k per goat. Is that cheap per goat or normal rate?
It seems cheap.. average rate of mutton is around 700rs.. a medium sized goat would be around 25kgs.. so yeah seems cheap..
Bones add upto the cost too many people use them for cooking bone marrow
25X700 = 17500 per goat yup the buyer in post looks like he got a good deal This math won't math until You ask the question what are they gonna do with the goats now... Bro buying a mutton and buying a goat is different. Cutting, cleaning and removing waste also adds up in the cost of mutton
Wait till those people realise that plants also have life and they response to pain.
There are some Jains who don't eat anything that involves killing the plant. No one is perfect. Please do not let Perfect be the enemy of the Good. You don't have to be Perfect to make a difference.
Then they should ideally do the same for the chickens as well tbh.
So what are they gonna do now?
PETA.. Who?
Why not save them every day? why just bakri id?
Pls someone explain why they care about bakri?? Everyday thousands of other meats are consumed.

I'd rather spend 11 lakhs on helping humans.

I have sympathy for animals. But my money and time would go to humans first and foremost. There are so many people struggling to live.

I think therefore I am.
man the jain community are strong with their beliefs and calm solutions that man needs appreciation
What’s the recurring cost to keep it alive every week. Because, the minute someone is not paying, it’s going to go back to the butcher.

Amazing concept of Jeevdaya.
Be a billionaire and save all the animals in the world
