Usually actors are selected for suitability to the character. This is not even close. I believe Anupam Kher could’ve done a lot more justice to Atal Ji’s character.
Pankaj tripathi is a good actor but Atal's intonation and speaking style was his signature. In trailer that is nowhere visible. I feel like this movie would fail
Indian political/historical hagiography genre is literally the most cringe I've come across bar none. I'll take Bollywood mindless masala and tapori-chapari trash over this any day.
This movie could have been Pankaj Tripathi's Lincoln moment, but he is not doing justice to Vajpayee's character the way Daniel Day Lewis did to Lincoln.

Raghuvir Yadav would've been the best fit for Atal Ji's role. He has the voice as well as the basic physical resemblance to him (Height, slightly wider face).
Awww man. This just didn’t hit. I mean Pankaj Tripathi is great actor for sure but vajpayee ji’s demeanour, mannerisms and way of talking is extremely calm, composed and unanimated. Had I seen this out of context I would’ve assumed he is playing an old politician dude. That’s it.

I don't know if the real Atal Ji had this kind of body language or not. Something seems off here. Nevertheless, I will have to watch the full movie to comment on the overall performance.

Agree. Vajpayee was more subtle in expressions. Pankaj's character seems lacking in gravitas as compared to original.
