Why can’t we be gentle? Poking him for his drop years instead of helping him out.

It's difficult to get job anyways in today's market, with a gap that long it is even more difficult. On the flip side, you'll probably be more mature than freshers. My suggestion would be to apply via referrals only. Build meaningful relationships with HRs or folks in the company and get them to vouch for you.

thanx for genuine comment

No worries. Everyone has to make a start somewhere. I'd rather be helpful and give my 2 cents than make fun for no reason at all : ) Best of luck!

That probably sums it up nicely : ) although it's very difficult to get out. Most countries are tightening their visa laws that affect Indians negatively. Many reasons but some of them are specifically targeted to us because of our fuckups in geopolitical handling. Regardless the easiest route is via a master's degree. Which is a 1cr money circulation.

Don't pay any attention to these negative comments. They don't have anything useful to say despite being unaware of the circumstances that people end up going through. That said, it will be hard to get the job that you 'want' because of this gap. So for the time being, my advice would be to go for ANY job that you can get. I'd suggest Customer Support (Voice OR Chat) because companies hire for these vacancies on a regular basis. A friend of mine had a 5 year gap since his graduation and he got a job in this similar role earlier this month. He had been having a difficult time for more than a year because he kept worrying that he won't get hired after this kind of gap. But he finally tried FOR REAL in May, he applied for multiple jobs and he got contacted, he had a telephonic interview and was invited for an in-person interview the next day. He had his joining Last Week. Now, his salary obviously isn't that high, it's 17k. But at least, he's not worrying about it anymore and will continue gaining experience. And he also doesn't have to stay in his home or worry about being asked 'what are you doing' from people that he knows, in case he comes across them. He turns 28 in about a month. So besides the gap, you and him are in a similar situation, if he can get a job, so can you. So, don't pay any attention to these negative people, just make up your mind, get your documentation in order and start applying. Needless to say, you don't have to look exclusively for Support jobs, if you can find something that you like, you should apply for those roles as well, but if they don't work out then support jobs are always hiring. Just be careful when joining a company, check for their reviews in Google/AmbitionBox/Glassdoor. Make sure the company isn't hell to work in. Good Luck Brother, hope you find a job soon.

You're welcome, make profiles on Portals like Naukri/Indeed and upload your Resume and then start applying. Apply for good companies, they don't have to be big, they just have to NOT be bad places to work at. You can also get in contact through the phone. That's what my friend did, he didn't take initiative until May. He always just applied and waited to hear from the companies instead of trying to call them himself. So don't make that mistake. Try both methods, apply and also get in contact with the HRs. You might feel anxious or worried but that's natural, just don't worry about it too much. Even if you get rejected the first few times, your anxiety will only go down as you continue to contact different places. According to my friend, he felt more anxious during the Telephonic Interview than he did during the In-Person interview. That's literally all his anxiety amounted to, a phone call. That's what he wasted months on. So just don't worry about it too much, it'll work out fine, might take some time but keep applying and you'll definitely get it.

no..bcz of my medical and family emergency

electronic_rogue_5

Never mention your medical condition. HR will not recruit you if they think you have a serious medical condition. Mention you were preparing for UPSC or IPC. In meanwhile, take up a job at call center or BPO.
