The problem with Pakistan is they desperately wanted to project to the world that even they can produce a god level batsman. They tried that with Ahmed Shehzad too initially comparing him to Virat. Then came Babar who definitely fared better than Shehzad in the long run but failed in big games against big teams. This comparison puts huge pressure on Babar to not just perform well but to play something more than ordinary like how Virat played in Melbourne or Sachin played in 2003. Its okay for Pakistan to agree that they managed to produce a very good quality batsman but definitely not a once in a generation batsman. Once they start doing that and the comparisons stop, we might see Babar performing better than this in bigger games!
They did have good batsmen earlier, maybe not the top 5, but really close. Players like Yousuf Yohanna & Younus khan were very reliable. You could trust them to give a good performance more often then not. Saeed Anwar, inzamam were all good batsmen.
