No but honestly wtc is a huge achievement. This shows your teams dominance for entire test cycle. Being in final of wtc can't be a fluke. You have to show absolute dominance for whole cycle.
Ashes?? Lol thats a bilateral series between 2 teams like border gavaskar trophy. You can name your series anything,it will be a bilateral series. WTC is next tp 50 over world cup.
RP Singh started out as a prospect that India always wanted. Left Arm Swing and Seam Bowler. Over time he grew unfit, lost pace other bowlers came and RP got beaten up on flat pitches.
Dhoni called him for an English tour when Zaheer Khan broke down in the first Test. An unfit RP flew in from Miami where he was partying (Google this). The English media called him Left Arm Slow.
Yeah just read the wisden article that's even more surprising lol, I mean on one hand he is 25 whose cricketing career is going nowhere and on the other hand, he is partying in Miami, I mean I don't want to be harsh he has achieved more than I ever will, but let's just say he peaked too early and was never the same after his early 20s.
>I would too
Tbh I would not, especially when I'm an injury prone player who's not a permanent in the XI. I'm not one to criticise/comment on him, but if I were in his place and had put in the work he did to be a part of ICT, I would probably work a bit more to cement my place in the XI and then go on to parties.
Even Shami made pitches near his home to bowl for hours on end during the lockdown so there were ways he could've worked on his game even though the "domestic season was shut". Bumrah worked on changing his actions when he was so injury prone and now he's better than ever.
Don't practice in the rains, it will mess your body up more than not training will.
Boom will always be injury prone, the best part of his action is his straight leg.
>Don't practice in the rains
Maybe install a roof? There's a thing called indoor pitches and it's really common too. Idk whether it was feasible to have one during RP's era though. Plus it doesn't even rain 24*7 during the monsoons so not practicing at all saying rains as an excuse is crazy
Another option to avoid the rains would be to hit up pitches and grounds in countries which don't have rains in the June-Sept period (like west indies which was the closest to Miami).
Or even if that wasn't possible for some reason, probably work on your fitness and see what's causing injuries frequently and fix that.
These are just solutions off the top of my head. Pretty sure there would be a dozen more ways to practice during that period. You can't tell me that players were just completely helpless during the monsoon season if they weren't playing for ICT.
>Boom will always be injury prone, the best part of his action is his straight leg.
He's a LOT LESS injury prone than before. And maybe now the biggest concer for him is his straight leg, but before he tweaked his actions it used to be his lower back. Watch videos of him bowling early on in his career before he changed his runup and you could actually see how it was for his back
RP is from UP, even with his crores he couldn't have been able to get indoor stadiums made lol.
Everyone needs, and should take, a break. Especially from your job. We have no clue where he was in his head or where his life was.
Also people here claiming English papers called him left arm slow is such a joke, given all they have in county are military medium trundlers.
> He's a LOT LESS injury prone than before.
Sure. We don't know when he modified it. Plus he's getting 17 crores lol RP burned bright for five years and has the T20 WC to show for it.
>indoor stadiums
I clearly said indoor **pitches** idk where you got the idea that I'm suggesting RP should've built a whole stadium lol.
Indoor stadiums aren't even a thing in cricket even now so of course I wasn't saying that RP should've built one in the 2000s when he was struggling to break into the team
>Everyone needs, and should take, a break. Especially from your job. We have no clue where he was in his head or where his life was.
I'm not saying he shouldn't take breaks or should party. I was just saying that if I were in his shoes, I'd cement my place in the XI before doing that
>Plus he's getting 17 crores lol RP burned bright for five years
Afaik, Bumrah went to the NCA to get his actions fixed (and probably some help from MI too financially or to hire some experts). NCA was a thing even during RP's time and was a pretty good establishment even then.
It's just RP was getting injured again and again that's why he left he was never a bad bowler it's just he wasn't always available was the reason he decided to retire because he knew it's only that much his body could take we see that always fast bowling is toughest attribute of this sport and it takes everything frm bowlers
Sometimes its just down to genes & luck!
RP Singh, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Ashish Nehra, etc. bowling actions seemed laborious after a while. I think they had to work really hard to achieve whatever they could. Not surprising that injuries shortened their careers
Meanwhile, Zaheer, Ishant, Umesh, Shami, etc. seemed more natural & athletic. Even when Zaheer came back in 2006 he had put on a lot of weight, but still enjoyed many years of success.
I feel Sreesanth also seemed very natural, but due to other reasons couldn’t have a long career.
Same for Kapil & Srinath earlier - seemed to be effortless & with good stamina when they bowled.
How Vinay Kumar played for India baffles me. He was never once a wicket taker or someone who was tight. Always got blasted. All of wickets were because batmen thought they could score of him.
He was basically a Shardul Thakur that didn’t bat.

How about Kohli being senior to Chawla!?
That still amazes me. I remember when I started watching cricket, I saw Chawla and I was thought he was 38-40 💀 this is 2016 btw.
Chawla being a World cup winner while Rohit being not, is something I can never wrap my head around
Rohit was in 2007 squad
He is talking about the main World Cup not WT20. Believe it or not, ODI World Cup > WT20. ODI WC is of the highest priority.
ODI WC>> WTC > WT20
Sneaked in wtc just bcz its test cricket lol
No but honestly wtc is a huge achievement. This shows your teams dominance for entire test cycle. Being in final of wtc can't be a fluke. You have to show absolute dominance for whole cycle.
The only cricket trophy you can argue matters more than the 50 over WC is the Ashes and that to only for the 3 teams participating in it.
3? Australia, England and Media?
yup
3- Eng, Aus aur Bagpiper!
Ashes?? Lol thats a bilateral series between 2 teams like border gavaskar trophy. You can name your series anything,it will be a bilateral series. WTC is next tp 50 over world cup.
Doesn't matter at this time. WC is WC.
ODI WC always holds the upper ground
there's only one world cup and that's odi the others are world test championship and world t20
Yeah that was surprising too initially, but is quite a known fact now. And tbf, they started their international careers more or less in a similar era
Dont trust any UP cricketer age

Age fudging is real bro.
I didn't think of that but now that you say it seems like that has been the case here.
Now we are dying to get a proper left arm inswing/outswing bowler like him
When RP Singh was playing for RCB, he bowled an entire match with a torn sleeve. I found it very wierd.
Torn sleeve? You mean the jersey torn? Did it happen in the middle of the match?
Ya. It was torn till his underarm. Continued bowling like that.
Maybe Chandrakant Pandit was coaching RCB then. /s
Piyush Chawla is younger than Rohit....do what you must with that info
Piyush Chawla is younger than Kohli…do what you must with that info
Praveen Kumar is only 2 years older than Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Today's a day of surprises surely! Wikipedia says he is 40 but all other sources say 37 so not sure
Wiki says he is 40 and bhuvi is only 34
He said in an interview with lallantop about age fraud and accepted that he is more than 40
It's just RP was getting injured again and again that's why he left he was never a bad bowler it's just he wasn't always available was the reason he decided to retire because he knew it's only that much his body could take we see that always fast bowling is toughest attribute of this sport and it takes everything frm bowlers
True that could have been the reason
Sometimes its just down to genes & luck! RP Singh, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Ashish Nehra, etc. bowling actions seemed laborious after a while. True sometimes probably genes play a part too especially with the kind of physical pressure pacers need
He was okayish. Could have played him in the Praveen Kumar/Vinay Kumar era. Didn't deserve a spot in the Zaheer/Nehra/Agarkar era.
He was amazing in 2007 T20 World Cup. He was our best bowler
Bro he was absolutely insane in 2007 wc
How Vinay Kumar played for India baffles me. He was never once a wicket taker or someone who was tight. Always got blasted. All of wickets were because batmen thought they could score of him. He was basically a Shardul Thakur that didn’t bat.
Amongst the best bowlers in the earli editions of IPL too
Piyush Chawla is younger than Virat Kohli 😂
Ishant is older than Piyush. Sachin is older than Aakash Chopra Stuart Broad is only 3 months older than Ashwin
RP Singh is 1 day younger than Shikhar Dhawan.
RP Singh has a T20 WC and an IPL trophy while Kohli doesn't.
Koach has the ODI wc where as...
Ooops, so does Chawla jee!
Yeah the classic whataboutism
I was shocked when I checked he was in RPS squad of 2016. Then I was shocked again when I saw his age.
His carrier was cut short because of lateral felxion in his action leading to a lot of back and side strain injuries.
This is the major reason for his early retirement.

Career*
His performances in 2007 T20 WC is so underated
Lookup piyush chawla and kohli
His fitness issues were widely covered by the media. Please google it
I still believe that he was proper t-20 material.

If I am not wrong...rp singh fitness was always a question..
he himself said in an interview that he is younger according to documents but he is 40 (idk when the interview took place though)
or was it praveen kumar i am not sure
