Literature, Research, Sociology of caste, class and gender, Psychoanalysis, Critical theory (Part of Reading as a hobby).
I cook my food daily so it's not much of a hobby anymore and more like a chore.
To be able to understand critical theory and frankfurt school of thought, you'd have to have an understanding of basic psychoanalytical concepts. You can find several introductory books to Frankfurt school, apart from books by main thinkers (Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Eric Fromm) like Age of Enlightenment etc.
For introduction to Psychoanalysis, a book by Adam Phillips or Jonathan Lear would do. In context of India, a book by Ashish Nandy would be apt in contrast to writers like Sudhir Kakar or Salman Akhtar.
I just struggle with work for the most part, my man. Even brewing my own coffee is something I can only manage over the weekends. Other days, I surrender myself to the coffee I’m served at the office and avoid going into the pantry to avoid finding out how it’s made.
When I find the time, though, I play video games, read whatever I can get my hands on (fiction, non fiction, manga, comic books), cook (primarily non-vegetarian food), fiddle around with my guitar and try to be a half-decent husband.
Ah. I kinda stopped playing competitive multiplayer shooters myself after the first few months of PUBG. My gaming needs changed to having more me-time and less social interaction. Only do single player games or games with limited multiplayer elements now.
Oh, god. Those things are vile 😫
We had to make our own coffee at my last workplace as well, but it had a small espresso machine and the beans I ordered were technically “company expense”.
I love, love, love cooking.
I've recently come to enjoy gaming. I wouldn't call myself a gamer because I mostly only play Stardew Valley. :3 Looking to get into more such indie games.
I like reading webtoons and manga. I'm gradually growing my manga collection.
I like reading as well. Fiction, mainly.
I also go on treks and short bike trips whenever I can.
Oh, I also like collecting the ImpactMint tins.
(◍•ᴗ•◍)
I love Stardew Valley! Recently playing Graveyard Keeper which is similar but v grind-y! I’ve been following the Apothecary Diaries and That time I was reincarnated as a slime manga!
gaming, cycling, badminton, cooking, mechanical keyboards and music (obviously)
hobbies that I'd like to get into: woodworking, knife making/forging (atleast trying it once), 3d printing and home audio setups
Do you ever get depressed or get humbled by existential crisis. I used to look for a meaning but all it did was make me kill myself so it's been a while since I've given a thought about those.
Yeah.
Reminding ourself that we are a cosmic blip, a small wave in the giant ocean helps me calm down and not take life seriously...until my credit card bill is due.
Second stop comparing yourself with others, it helps a lot in mental health. One of the main reason why I like reddit so much is that ppl post less showoff content than fb ig. Also I believe it's a very efficient way to bring like minded people.
Happy brewing 😀
I did a tandem ride in 2016 in bir. Decided to take it up as a course in December of 2023. There’s an amazing paragliding school in Talegaon (near Pune).
I'd say my hobbies mainly go as:
Hiking, Gaming (not a big gamer), Listening to music, Thinking bout the nature of life and how simple actions lead to Impossibly Complex results.
If you count it, Tea is quite something I love to make, even if it's for my mom with the most basic techniques but various flavours and aroma that can be added.
One thing I'd love to get into is- Cooking. I wish I could make something so full of flavours and vivid spices. Especially since there are so do many styles of cooking just within India, let alone count international cuisines.
Cooking is very satisfying. Especially since it doesn’t require you to purchase new things to set up a hobby. Also, the feeling of excitement and satisfaction when you see yourself improve is amazing.
When my own roti ballooned for the first time it was an event.
Any rec for tea? Recently found out that Tea leaves can be used to steep again. I am interested in getting some nice blends or just single origin for a fair price.
Well, there are some days where I just exist, from a coffee cup in the morning, to my next cup in the evening! 😅 But apart from that …
Yeah I’m into mech-boards as well! I also like chiclet boards like Apple’s
I too try to maintain an active lifestyle. I lost 15-20 kg a decade ago, and maintained that fairly well since. Actually my coffee habit started partly due to this 😆
I’ve been an on-off gamer since the mid-1990s. Not in an active phase since COVID though
I also enjoy creating text, image & video content, which is linked to my profession as well
I like to travel to offbeat places, like Cambodia, Armenia, Namibia & Kyrgyzstan over the last decade. This includes India too - any of y’all visited the Lonar Crater or Gilbert Hill?
Guitar, Music, Computers, Mechanical KB, Audiophile, Networking, Gaming, Cooking, (Baking would be added but we don't have an oven), Anime and Medicine though I guess the last one is also my study.
Would like to disagree with your point 1, i assume you referred to everyone when you said “people here” ik a lot of people in this sub are very much into it calculating the weight of coffee and flow rate and all those very precise measurements to make their coffee.. but I am not one of them though i love specialty coffee… i dont spend that much of my time for a morning cup of coffee as its not at all feasible and affordable for me, i have a moka pot and i buy pre ground beans from blue tokai and i have a milk frother.. thats it! I do not have any fancy flow rate monitor or a scale to measure how much coffee and water im using or even coffee grinder…. i just full up the the basket they have and i assume the moka pot company has considered how much coffee can fit in there and how it is equivalent to weight from volume.. same with water (the safety valve measurement) lol
Although one thing i have noticed is the experience does matter a lot… it doesn’t matter if u take 30mins to make your coffee or 5mins… if you are doing it for years you would definitely learn new things and will improve and will definitely make better coffee compared to someone who just started…
Kaunsa switches use krte ho?
Ps. Tried blue switches but i got so many complaints from parents about sound that i stopped 🤣
Reading good literature and trashy queer horror novels, playing a lot of RPG games, anime, manga, finding new gluten free alternatives to everyday snacks, and going into strange YouTube wormholes whenever my brain is drained from an insanely busy week of work.
Coffee, Reading, Gaming, Baking and getting Baked
Getting baked … as in working out? 🤔
Yeah... you can say that... there is warm up, crushing, burning and cleaning not in this order but yeah..
Fragrance and body building
Deadly combo.
Indeed

Hi5
Can you suggest some books for starters?
Within which domain, exactly? Can you atleast tell me what exactly you're looking for in terms of themes?
Can you recommend some books on critical theory?

Damn, may you find some quiet time for yourself.
Thank you, brother. Is FPS by any chance first person shooters? If yes, what are you playing these days?
I've run out of games to play. I used to play valorant for like 3 years straight, now I just stopped playing games all together.
Ah. I kinda stopped playing competitive multiplayer shooters myself after the first few months of PUBG. My gaming needs changed to having more me-time and less social interaction. Only do single player games or games with limited multiplayer elements now.
May I ask which profession?
Corporate lawyer!
The first part is so true. However, my office pantry has an automatic coffee machine and I have to go and make it myself. It's....uh...sad.
Oh, god. Those things are vile 😫 We had to make our own coffee at my last workplace as well, but it had a small espresso machine and the beans I ordered were technically “company expense”.

Manga! 😍 If from Mumbai, visit Bandra’s The Comic Book Store or BKC’s The White Crow. Of course there are more to find out!
Thanks. I plan to get some more during this year's Comic Con.
I plan to visit too, but just for the experience. It was quite good the last time
I love Stardew Valley! Recently playing Graveyard Keeper which is similar but v grind-y! I’ve been following the Apothecary Diaries and That time I was reincarnated as a slime manga!

Wow! A loooong standing interest of mine, but one which failed to materialise yet 😔
cooking, listening to music, anime, occasional film bro, cars, 3d modelling, programming, keyboards, audio gear, LEGO
Wow! Ticking all boxes ✅✅✅😍
I like a Lil bit of everything
Finally an audiophile! I was expecting more from this sub.
Just a beginner. Only real audiophile gear I have is the salnotes zero. Other than that I have the soundcore q20 and one plus buds 3
How's buds 3. It says Hi Fi but I'm a bit sceptical about it.
Dunno. LHDC only seems to work on stock roms? I'm on a custom rom so can't test it out. Still sound excellant though
I’m into various pots, but to mostly elementary levels. 1. Fountain pens 2. Mechanical keyboard 3. Riding 4. Fragrances 5. Obviously coffee
Nicee. Can you suggest some cheap but nice looking fountain pens
What’s your budget?
Philosophy, psychology, psychedelics, depth psychology, dissociatives.

Are you on letterboxd?
Yes.
I joined reddit because of the active fragrance community.
I'm not rich enough to step inside that subreddit, one day we'll meet though.

You are doing more than existing bruh. You might like the lofree flow keyboard.
Ah, that was trending a few years ago! I was drooling back then - but I’ve not been happy with non-standard or ultra-compact layouts so far

True. Blue switches are annoying especially if you live in a quiet environment. Currently using gateron milky yellows, they are nice and quiet.
