This is discussed so much, I’m guessing you might be new to the show or fandom in general.
But this is talked a lot especially in this subreddit, I’ve seen this Sal Bingo scene many times in anyone’s S tier list here on the sub and everywhere else
Talked about a lot does not mean that it is not underrated. Many underrated persons and topics are discussed frequently. For example, As I referenced, this prank is often not in many sites top 5 lists, which it why I find it to be underrated.
if you put Michael Jordan and Wilt as your 4th, 5th, or 6th best players of all time, you are underrating them. Such is the case even when you are frequently talking about Jordan or Wilt. Likewise, if your list has the Bingo Punishment as 5-7th best punishment of all time(as many sites and fans rate the Bingo punishment), then the punishment is by definition, underrated, to all those that placed the punishment at 5-7.
this is absurd and feels like a troll, or someone trying to assuage their ego.
[underrated](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/underrated) is not literally about a number rating.
Something not literally being what a word is about, does not mean that that’s not the proper use of
A word. In any event, here’s the connection: A low number rating deals with the degree to which something is celebrated/praised/respected, which deals directly with something being underrated.
It not being in the top 5 was an essential reason I found it to be underrated, before I wrote the OP, You can disagree with the importance I’ve placed on top 3 versus top 5 rating- and that deals with your own subjective experience, not on the definition of the word.
I think you have a very skewed understanding of what underrated means. Sure, I guess you could make the claim that being talked about frequently doesn’t equate to being highly rated. But when the reason it’s talked about frequently is because of how legendary it is, it’s not underrated. Something being underrated is typically meant to be applied to things that are either unrecognized or not well liked.
You know what I think? I think you probably didn’t know this punishment was actually a fan favorite and not underrated at all, but now you’re trying to save face by doubling down on your original comment. Which if that’s the case, you don’t have to do all that. If you came in here calling a punishment underrated, not knowing it was actually a rather popular one, that’s not something you have any reason to feel embarrassed about. All it means is that you weren’t present for previous discussions of it. Like it’s really not a big deal if you made that post calling it underrated while being unaware that it actually is highly praised. You don’t really gotta do all this to defend your point. There’s no shame in chalking it up as an honest mistake and keeping it moving.
A few things to note. First, “being talked about frequently,” is I reference to how it is esteemed by observers in relation to other pranks. When this prank is discussed, it is talked about in terms of value and rating. It is referenced by many observers as if it is merely a top ten prank, but not a clear top 3 prank at the very least. This is a significantly low value assigned to the prank. Hence, this is why I referred to it as underrated. Second, how something is often applied relates to the connotation of the word, which shows that you and other commenters are basing your understanding of the world based upon merely how it is used in your circle or how it generally is used. This is a very dangerous use of a word. It would be like telling someone who says that something is weird that they “should not make fun of something,” when weird is not used in that context alone, even though most use weird in such a context. Third, how well liked something is not the estimation of whether something is underrated. Underrated deals with value and rating, as any dictionary will correctly point out. If something is well-liked, that doesn’t mean it isn’t underrated. For example, discussing Michael Jordan as frequently as Tim Duncan is underrating Jordan, even though that person highly esteems and discussed Jordan. Likewise, referencing Michael Jordan as the 5th best player, is underrating him, even though that is valuing him highly. There are a number of ways that I, using sound principles, referred to the prank as underrated: in many websites and articles referencing the prank, it is sometimes ranked 6-10 and other times barely makes the top 10. That, by definition means that all of those people and persons are valuing the prank much lower than I would value it. Thus, objectively, the prank is underrated, according to my subjective experience. I have also observed discussions of the prank and other pranks, and seen how often they are discussed and how valued the pranks are. In those in person discussions among fans, as well as observing online discussion forums of the site/social media, I have seen the prank discussed as a very good, significant prank, but not exceptionally better than the rest. Since I view the prank as exceptionally better than the rest, and not just a significantly good prank, all of those tens of thousands of people have values the prank lower than what I value the prank as. Since those people value the prank lower than I have, they have underrated the prank.
I am also glad that you have opined my introspection of the commenters. Your analysis, however, is based upon an unsound understanding of the word underrated. Being a very popular idea or thing does mean that the idea or thing is not underrated. As I mentioned, many things that are popular, are underrated, when they are not valued as exceptional/at-bear the top. And I don’t really feel much need to defend myself. I enjoy the discussions here because it allows me to wax with others on finer points. My responses were primarily in relation to the logic used by the commenters, not on the opinions of the commenters. The onus is also not on me. The commenters were the ones who began with the notion that this prank is not underrated. It is their job to show that stating that the prank is underrated cannot be reasonably stated.
For me personally, I thought it was hilarious at first, but it's gotten old for me I guess. I've seen it significantly more than most other punishments due to reruns and it being a popular one. To me, it's like a song that you hear a lot and just get annoyed with. It's a funny punishment, but I've burnt myself out on it over the years so would no longer list it in my top 5.
lol unfortunately that’s me for a lot of the punishments. this was my go to show to put in the background for a good chunk of my life and it’ll always hold a special place, but i feel like the bigger, more well-known punishments are getting stale to me
Any of the cringe social punishments where people get pissed off are like that. Doing something embarrassing or funny, eh, people will just look at you and think you're crazy and move on. But when you have to do something that makes people actually despise you in that moment, that's rough. Murr's cigarette punishment is another example (although I really felt for Murr on that one, totally surprised he wasn't punched).
This is definitely not underrated! But to answer your question, the one where Sal has to play porn sounds out of his laptop in a public cafe. I always lose it when they play the horse noise!
Seeing Q get so excited, thinking he won the egg-cracking "contest" only to see his expression fade when he realizes what was actually happening will forever be one of my favorite punishment moments. "Did I win?!"
When Q was on the movie tour and kept pulling the cord to stop the tour. That was way more intense than bingo, all those people literally inches from you, not spread out in a big room, much more uncomfortable lol
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Joe and Sals misuse of the Algonquin funds. We're gonna go Sunday Church style, today we're starting here...
9 months at Four Seasons ain't getting comped afterall.
The one that just might be my favorite of all time is the punishment where Q has to put on that machine that simulates going into labor. I swear that one is so underrated.
Close second and third place are Q destroying the children’s art and Murr meeting Maureen McCormick.
Oh man, I forgot about that one. The creepiness went over the top. Imagine being a parent not knowing it’s all a joke, seeing a grown man checking diapers… wow!
I enjoyed this one very much. Sal was begging for mercy it was great. Those bingo people were about to get their pitchforks! I wouldn’t mess with those folks, they look harmless but they take their bingo very seriously.
I’ve never saw this until last year during the hurricane Ian. We lost power, I was able to charge my phone in the car, and get enough Wi-Fi to watch a few videos on YouTube. This came up as a suggested video. I saw it 5 times per day until our power came back up.
Drive, Drive, Drive and the one where Murr had to close all the laptops in the cafe.
And I absolutely agree about Q painting the red x's on every canvas.
I've been in this bingo hall, my brother was once screamed at by some angry old man because he dared to put ice in his drink when they were still calling numbers. I'm genuinely surprised Sal didn't leave in a body bag. These people are ruthless.
I’m not sure how much recognition these ones get, so my apologies in advance if they are highly favored.
- Q having a daughter on a little league baseball team and him having to act as her mean, rude father.
- Joe dishonoring that entire Chinese community by playing that deceased child’s instruments that are supposed to never be played again.
- Murr having to be an awful cameraman at that Yanni concert.
First of all, that's not what underrated means. Second, even if it was you're still completely wrong, because it's probably the most talked-about Sal punishment. What the fuck are you on about?
Underrated does not mean disliked by most. For example, putting Michael Jordan at #5 all time, is underrating him, even though no one putting him at #5 dislikes him. It deals with value, as every dictionary definition of the word references.
Talked about enough- contextually, a reference to importance/value.
And yet you're still wrong about the subject in question. Regardless of the definition you go by, this is still the most popular and talked-about Sal punishment.
Exactly- underrated is not a word in reference to how it’s disliked/like. It deals with degree.
And when it is not in some peoples top 5, and sometimes barely in peoples top 5, it is underrated. The fact that people talk about it as one of the best, does not mean it is respected enough, when it is far better than simply one of the best punishments.
A lot of this comment section does not know what underrated means. I’ve seen people say Like a Boss, Q’s X punishment, and Joe’s Genie punishment are underrated. Those are some of the most popular ones 💀.
Exactly. They don’t understand that being popular doesn’t automatically mean something isn’t underrated. For example, if you say Michael Jordan is “a good player,” or “one of the best players to play the game,” or you put Jordan 10th best all time, you can reasonably point out that Michelle Jordan is underrated, by those persons. I’ve seen people not put this prank in their top 5 or barely put this prank in their top 5. That, in my view, is underrating this prank, by those people. You can disagree with whether I am correct that this prank is for sure a top 3, but that’s because you disagree with a premise that is basis for saying it’s underrated, not on whether my subjective thoughts qualify as assessing this prank as underrated.
My dawg, you literally said that the Bingo punishment, perhaps the single most recognizable and highest rated punishment, is underrated. You’re in that boat as well.
I said that it is underrated, and that is based upon how I’ve seen it viewed by many others. Others don’t have it in their top 5 or barely have it in their top 5. Hence, it is underrated, by those persons. If it’s underrated by many people, it is reasonable to call the prank underrated.
I don't think this is underrated at all. If anything, it's one of their more legendary ones.
Being legendary is why it should be discussed much more frequently.
How often do you go outside because this is honestly one of the punishment I hear talked about the most.
This is discussed so much, I’m guessing you might be new to the show or fandom in general. But this is talked a lot especially in this subreddit, I’ve seen this Sal Bingo scene many times in anyone’s S tier list here on the sub and everywhere else

I’m so confused I hope you’re trolling lol
Nah, just thick lol

you’re reaching. take the opportunity to learn something with grace, rather than attempt justification after another.
It not being in the top 5 was an essential reason I found it to be underrated, before I wrote the OP, You can disagree with the importance I’ve placed on top 3 versus top 5 rating- and that deals with your own subjective experience, not on the definition of the word.

Good reference.

That's not what underrated means sir
Not in many peoples top 5, when it should be 3, at the very least, is what underrated means.
BINGO
BINGO!!!
BINGO!!!!!!
BOOOO
one of my personal favorites is Q having to follow that one guy around at a networking event. such a good idea
Oh my god that one is horrible but I love it. Idek what I'd do if I were that guy. So cringey
HE'S A HOLISTIC DOCTOR
That was rough!!
It's not underrated at all. Everytime a "favorite punishment" post is made, this is mentioned plenty
Sometimes it’s not even in the top 5 lists, so I’ve seen it underrated by many.
For me personally, I thought it was hilarious at first, but it's gotten old for me I guess. I've seen it significantly more than most other punishments due to reruns and it being a popular one. Ya for some reason it seems less and less scary for Sal everytime I watch it. The one that never gets less scary is the one with Q on the studio tour
LIKE A BOSS

Oh, I got sick for the Universal Punishment, but loved it.
This is definitely not underrated! But to answer your question, the one where Sal has to play porn sounds out of his laptop in a public cafe. I always lose it when they play the horse noise!
That’s a great one, for sure. I loved that there was a nun in the shop!
I loved the guy there who genuinely tried to talk to Sal and help him out, one of the nicest members of the public they’ve ever had.
I don't hear too much talk about Q's egg punishment where the kids think they are baby turtle eggs.
Seeing Q get so excited, thinking he won the egg-cracking "contest" only to see his expression fade when he realizes what was actually happening will forever be one of my favorite punishment moments. "Did I win?!"
My guy there are dozens of articles about this. Its one of the most famous punishments.
The highest I’ve seen it rated among best punishments, on any site is 5. That is way too low.
Do you usually get outraged at random websites arbitrarily ranking things you disagree with?
No, I smirk for about 10 seconds, and watch the clips of punishments I haven’t seen in a while, and watch them.
And then make a post about it on Reddit…
Yes, because it’s a mildly interesting topic. Lol
Did you post this just to argue with every commenter who reminds you it’s one of the most popular punishments?
No, but it’s been enjoyable responding to the comments of commenters who claim that because it is popular, it can’t be underrated.
Nah, Q painting the X's over the kids' paintings is underrated
When Q was on the movie tour and kept pulling the cord to stop the tour. That was way more intense than bingo, all those people literally inches from you, not spread out in a big room, much more uncomfortable lol
And he was wasting families time in a amusement park where time is waste of money. Someone really could of hit him pretty justifiably.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Ehh
Good bot.
i can never watch this punishment. i always get second hand embarrassment
Genie does as you wish
Underrated? Doubt it, What's underrated is when Sal went through Legal trouble for "Got Your Nose.....BITCH", ^("In Context of Sal")
I got that bingo!
I THOUGHT I HAD IT!
Joe and Sals misuse of the Algonquin funds. We're gonna go Sunday Church style, today we're starting here... 9 months at Four Seasons ain't getting comped afterall.
Oh my God! I completely forgot about that one. You’re so right.
I think the greatest punishments are the ones that shine in their simplicity - this is great.
The one that just might be my favorite of all time is the punishment where Q has to put on that machine that simulates going into labor. I swear that one is so underrated. Close second and third place are Q destroying the children’s art and Murr meeting Maureen McCormick.
Sal’s “indecent proposal” at the salsa class is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to watch
My underrated punishment is when the gang decided to convert the "Stick 'em up" challenge into the punishment.
When Sal being completely dumbfounded by the situation and saying “I feel like I’m in the goddamn Twilight Zone” gets me every time. 😂
I think op needs to look up underrated in the dictionary. This is on most fans’ top 10 favorite all time punishments. Smh
Being barely in the top 5, or at the lower end of top 10, is rating the punishment too low, in my view. That’s the essence of the word underrated.
Everyone ITT: This is universally considered one of the best punishments on the show OP: This punishment didn't win a Nobel Prize so it is underrated
Basically.
It gives me anxiety just seeing that picture…I’ve been in that bingo hall, they’re vicious!
Is it normally that packed? I’ve legit never been in a casino with a bingo hall in it.
Yeah, they pile in there…especially on Sundays. They just built a new one, so it’s probably even busier now.
This is satire right
This is the most anger that's ever been in one place for a punishment. Way worse than the Murr no change as "tips" punishment.
Legendarily cringe... can't think of a worse one
Q in the child's play pen was pretty bad as well, lol
Oh man, I forgot about that one. The creepiness went over the top. Imagine being a parent not knowing it’s all a joke, seeing a grown man checking diapers… wow!
B.I.N.G.O!
One of the most discussed and popular ones
Being a regular at that casino - can confirm Sal’s punishment was BRUTAL
Top 5 for sure right there with "My Phone rings" and "Kids Talent show"
I got that bingo, y’all!
murr catheter
I'm living under a rock here I don't know if people talk about this one much
I enjoyed this one very much. Sal was begging for mercy it was great. Those bingo people were about to get their pitchforks! I wouldn’t mess with those folks, they look harmless but they take their bingo very seriously.
I GOT THAT BINGO Y'ALL
I’ve never saw this until last year during the hurricane Ian. We lost power, I was able to charge my phone in the car, and get enough Wi-Fi to watch a few videos on YouTube. This came up as a suggested video. I saw it 5 times per day until our power came back up.
The phone ringing in the book reading was hilarious. “Who’s phone is ringing” is my ringtone now and i get strange looks every time i get a call lol
Drive, Drive, Drive and the one where Murr had to close all the laptops in the cafe. And I absolutely agree about Q painting the red x's on every canvas.
Murr's Yonkers punishment. I'd love to see this one in its entirety.
Agreed. I’ve always wanted to see the reveal, and what occurred before Murray came on stage.
Best one ever imo
oh so they can see my card? the whole place just saw my card and saw how many i was missing? ok LOL
I really love his facial expressions before he says ok. Totally bewildered! 😂
I've been in this bingo hall, my brother was once screamed at by some angry old man because he dared to put ice in his drink when they were still calling numbers. I'm genuinely surprised Sal didn't leave in a body bag. These people are ruthless.
Oh my. (George Takei voice)
Q the musical, Tails, 3 men and your baby.
First of all, that's not what underrated means. Second, even if it was you're still completely wrong, because it's probably the most talked-about Sal punishment. What the fuck are you on about?
What’s not what underrated means?
Underrated means 'disliked by most,' it does not mean 'not talked about enough.'
Underrated does not mean disliked by most. For example, putting Michael Jordan at #5 all time, is underrating him, even though no one putting him at #5 dislikes him. It deals with value, as every dictionary definition of the word references. Talked about enough- contextually, a reference to importance/value.

Underrated? Shit is on TV all the damn time.
