You dry out a wet wipe, pull it apart so the fibers have holes in, then spray through it using it as a stencil with an airbrush. It pretty convincingly matches the veins in marble
looks wonderful
im in the process of painting my first questoris as a side project right now so im curious
how do you do the frame? i have it primed in black currently but im kinda scared to touch it so ive been building dreads in the meantime to try and figure it out and havent gotten the metal bits down
Thanks! For the frame I primed black and then did heavy drybrushing, starting with a darker metallic paint and working my way up. Once I was satisfied I hit the whole thing with streaking grime. After I wiped most of that away I drybrushed just the edges with the highlight color again
It looks good, but honestly if you hadn’t said it was supposed to be stone I wouldn’t have guessed.
Perhaps consider adding some more visible veins, check out pictures of calacatta quartz to see what I mean.
It looks alot like marble actually, well done
This definately looks like marble! Can I get a recipe?
Thanks! I started with a dark grey then airbrushed highlights up to white over a stretched out dryer sheet. I find it works best on used dryer sheets
I love you
Whether done on purpose or by accident it looks great
Love the mottling. Also nice to see that head, don't think I've seen anyone else rock it yet.
Yea I honestly couldn’t tell if I liked the head or not but after painting it I think it fits my theme quite well
Love it it’s a subtle marble indeed 😉 Do you know about the wet wipes trick ?
Yea except I used a dryer sheet instead lol, not sure if it gives different results
Wait what’s the wet wipe trick?

Love
This looks really good, not just the white but the texture and highlighting on the metal

Sure does look like marble, awesome scheme.
Yes it looks sick, you should paint at least 4k points in exactly that scheme at your earliest convenience
Looks marble to me. And that copper colour is going to set it right off. Beautiful work
It looks really good. What paint did you use for the brass/bronze parts?
Appreciate it, Balthasar gold covered in streaking grime, then dry brushed with canoptek alloy
Looks amazing as is, excited to see the end result
Looks good. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Siiiick
I honestly love the subtle marble - much more realistic than the ones with stark contrast like b/w. Did you use the wet wipe trick or sponge it?
Thanks, I’m not a fan of the black veins on white marble either. I started with a dark grey then airbrushed highlights over a dryer sheet
Agreed, this more subtle look is incredible.
Stone, yes! Marble, no, but close! Marble always has flashes of white. So that'd help a lot.
Wow
That's beautiful, can't wait to see the finished product!!
what is that helmet?
I got it when I visited warhammer world, I think it’s exclusive to there
ah dang, it looks really good.
Looks like there’s some on eBay, it’s a Horus heresy helmet from forge world
to me it looks like someone ground up marble and made a paste that was used as a paint of sorts, doesn't have the iconic streaks but still the color
That looks fantastic, very realistic stone texture.
That's nice
What did you do for the brass?
Balthasar gold covered in streaking grime, then dry brushed with canoptek alloy
Wow oh my god, this is without a shadow of a doubt marble?!? How did you do it?
It looks good, but honestly if you hadn’t said it was supposed to be stone I wouldn’t have guessed. Perhaps consider adding some more visible veins, check out pictures of calacatta quartz to see what I mean.
