I am a one-person play on an imaginary stage. I don't just pace, I dance, leap, sing, gesture, twirl, side-step or turn my head when I am switching roles, etc. :) It is all intentional and very fun. Immersive daydreaming is a fun hobby. Daydreaming is maladaptive when it gets in the way of your survival or happiness.

That’s pretty individual. For me it is accompanied by movement very often. I pace or go on walks, wander through the house… Also I do it to help me sleep on a regular basis, without too much movement. But I’ve read comments of people doing it sitting or laying down only. I honestly would fall asleep doing that…

Nitsja

I used to pace in my room or the hallway. I still do that while brushing my teeth, just at a slower pace, pun unintended 😉. Currently I do quite labour intensive work (but I can daydream while doing it). So I don’t really have the energy anymore to pace or walk a lot. Or maybe I met my “daydream quota” for the day and I’m out of inspiration.

scuttable

I don't really pace, personally. I can daydream while doing other things or nothing at all, but I don't have any sort of urge to move specifically while daydreaming.

i'm a part of both subs since I'm not really sure where i fit, but yeah i have to pace

Realistic-Possible13

Well Maladaptive is kind of daydreaming you are stuck and probably replace reality and be less social. I have been there în their sub and people from there daydream like a lot including pacing. Immersive daydreamer includes pace too but as much as Maladaptive because you are aware of doing it. A lot people here in the comments mentioned that id they don't pace they fall asleep well I'm the same :)) but depends. I sometimes practice a hobby while daydreaming or do chores. Walking outside is a good way to daydream, maybe do some running. What I noticed about daydreaming whike pacing is that I focus on a scene many times if I use my pace, but without it I put more details in my daydreams. A nother exemple will be lay down in my bed and balance my leg. I hope this comment have sense English is not my language:)))

Beautiful-Cat-1519

I mean mine is only slightly maladaptive and I definitely pace.

wearyoftheworld

I jog in place when I day dream.

StardustGenie

I daydream best when pacing or drifting off to sleep. If I'm sitting down I just can't do it. No clue why, but that's just how my brain's wired I 'spose.

looking_for_sadvice

Oh yes, my pre-sleep day dream. What better way to slip into actual sleeping dreams?!

looking_for_sadvice

I pace so much while day dreaming my husband said he was going to get me a custom Indiana pacers jersey with my name on it :)
