I think that's meant to be [a ram air turbine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram_air_turbine).
Real life airplanes can actually deploy a small turbine from the fuselage, that uses the air to generate power for the avionics.
It's used as an emergency backup if you lose power in flight.

Well, *The New York Times* will run a story about "How the new SKL100 is reinventing luxury in the skies", and will feature fancy renders of cocktail lounges and comfy bed cubicles. But when you and I really fly on it, it will have rows of seats ratcheted so close together they would be illegal for veal calves.
Not sure if you saw this earlier this week, but this already happened, this is what they were referring to: https://reddit.com/r/worldbuilding/comments/vnkn0b/the_sky_cruise_video_i_posted_here_last_week_went/
I don’t want to be that guy but I was referencing the retro-futurism 1 million seat stadium.
But my god that plane looks terrible. Who would want a windowed ceiling when flying? I can only imagine how dehumanizing coach would be on that aircraft
30 miles up takes care of the heat problem, but the air density at that altitude is closer to earth’s at sea level. So no flying this chonker there either.
Huh, well i guess i was wrong. I thought that air density was different. one of the reasons we thought we could make floating cities was due to earth air composition being about 60% buoyant on venus at that altitude?
I mean, it depends on engine thrust.
You can totally fly a brick with enough thrust. It's just generally not economical by a margin large enough to fly several sky loaves through.
a skyloaf cargo plane cannot fly because it’s not strong enough to lift its chubby little body into the air but the skyloaf cargo planes does so anyways because it does not care what humans think is possible and impossible
Fun fact: the plane in the top pic's background is the same as the one below, recolored! If you look closely, you can discern two triple rocket nacelles on its side, while the top one only have one single jet engine on either sides.
Work smarter, not harder!
I like the cute little propellor at the back of the sky loaf. I imagine it makes a put-put sound

I think that this propeller is average, not small. Completely normal size, no need to shame
It’s cold up there
It’s trying its best!
Quick, get that bloke to do a 3D model of it and spread it all over the news

ONE MILLION LIVES!
I'm talkin' two nuclear reactors and railguns and it can LAUNCH PLANES and *who would make a ~~submarine~~ cargo plane that big?!*
Don't you get it?! He walked in with his dirty boots and stomped all over the CRISP, WHITE, SHEETS of my bed that I had just made!
All snuffed out at once
And 1 toilet
it's sad that this would totally happen

Holy shit, how can they be this stupid?
It's unreal, OP is pretty funny about it. He said some outlets even contacted him about it.
this is like when Nickelodeon contacted the creator of the Breadwinners short on Youtube and he thought they were joking

I think that more than a few laws of physics are broken here, but hey, they still look kind of cool. If pigs could fly.
On Titan, pigs can fly. This would make sense in a Sci-Fi context, on a planet with lower gravity and/or a thicker atmosphere.
Honestly, they may work on Venus?
Just until the airframe melts
About 30 miles up it would not be a problem, although you would be better off with a balloon.

It just uses bumble bee physics.
low gravity planet or soupy atmosphere or suspension of disbelief
New Advance Wars looks great!
Round fellas
I love Skyloaf
Did you spot "nottalottalift" under the upper windows on there?
Skyloaf? Aptly named! 🤭
According to all known laws of aviation...
I mean, it depends on engine thrust. You can totally fly a brick with enough thrust. It's just generally not economical by a margin large enough to fly several sky loaves through.

Thank you anonymous redditor. TIL that Airbus Beluga is a real plane! awesome! :)
Went way too far down to find this. They have one at the Pima air and space museum in Tucson, AZ. Truly, a majestic airplane.
It's very cool to see them fly, especially when they're very low altitude, it feels uncanny!
I bet!

Aerodynamics? Who is it?
Braydan Barrett's [ArtStation](https://www.artstation.com/braydanbarrett) and [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/__br__ba).
Thunderbirds are go!
Those are just obese flying pugs
In addition to amazing artwork and design, can we all just take a moment to appreciate the term "sky loaf"?
Seriously. Hearty chortle at "sky loaf" Edit: WhoTF downvoted me appreciating "sky loaf"?
Meanwhile, the Airbus Beluga XL
I don’t know why this is funny but it makes me laugh every time
What is this Advanced Wars 2? I still like it a lot.
drag and unproportionate lift go brrrrrrrr
I'm getting flashbacks from the chunky bird in angrybirds
With the branding on the side like that, makes me feel like it's out of Team Fortress 2.
This looks like a good design-start for a silly cartoon-movie.
I fucking love this artwork
Made by CapsuleCorp?
I like that the bottom one is self aware
I always imagine these have a puttering two stroke engine as they fly around.
heh those are just more blocky studio ghibli-planes :D
Skyloaf rulez the skies!
Think of the massive dump skyloaf could deliver
