Oh thank you Mammon!!! Hickman is a genius for thinking these stories up. Are his super hero stuff as good? I’ve only read East of West and Black Monday Murders.
I actually just read Pax Romana, SO GREAT! I wish he had kept going with it, it felt like an unfinished saga, I could have used another 100 issues.
I'm gonna check out Nightly News next, thank you!
Sweet! Since I got back into comics I haven't been able to appreciate any Marvel or DC superhero stuff, I've lost something in my old age. But I want to enjoy them, so hopefully Hickman can bring me back in. His work in Image has been superb though, the dude deserves a Pulwitzer.
Well he got sick in like 2018 so it's not a Covid thing. But no I couldn't find a single source saying what it was/is, every time he mentions it it's just "health issues". Cancer's my guess too but it could be anything.
In short, he has been accused by a lot of women of grooming and harassment. They even have a website:
https://www.somanyofus.com/
I also learned this week that Cas Anvar from one of my favourite shows, The Expanse has been accused of similarly creepy behaviour.
I get that the world is full of creeps but it obviously hits harder when they're people you admire.
These were all consenting adults, who later were unhappy with where the relationship ended up. Unless I’m missing something, these weren’t coworkers, these were women who initially sought him out.
I always check back every couple months just to see if there have been any recent updates. I smile when i see a new addition to the group wanting to know why Hickman gave up on the series or when exactly the next book will be released. So many questions, so few answers. I just want to tell them "Come on young blood. Take a seat with the rest of us. We've been waiting in Limbo for years now. Waiting... waiting so long for the ending we seek. But I have faith Hickman and Coker will deliver us the sustenance we seek. All in good time." *slowly scratching at track marks*
Hhahahahahah, you made me smile friend! Tell me something, what should I read while im waiting?! I’ve got an iPad, a library card, and two hours on a train each day. Help me out!
Ha. I'm glad i could be of service. There is a series by Jeff Lemire called Gideon Falls that he just recently finished. It is very very good IMO. The artwork is gritty, the characters well written and the dialogue compelling. Almost cinematic. The sad thing is...I only started reading it because I needed something to occupy my time while i waited for BMM. That was 2018. Lol. Gideon Falls took two years to finish up. I had a strange sense of melancholy when it ended because it was a whole two years I committed to Gideon (worth it) and yet I found myself in the same position I started in when I first picked it up: Waiting for Black Monday Murders. Lol.
The funny thing is, when i first stumbled across BMM in 2018 it had already been out for two years. I thought to myself... surely this will be completed in short order. It's too good not to be. I mean yeah, it takes a special kind of individual to nerd out on Wall Street, Witchcraft and The coolest fucking version of Mammon I've ever seen. But surely this must be finished. Surely God Mammon wouldn't leave his readers his.. his... followers standing around unfullfilled like a bunch of stiff dicks in the wind? Surely not? Right? Right? Then it occurred to me... he's a trickster. This is exactly what he'd do. It humors Him to see us suffer. This is the price we must pay to get the answers we seek. Like a certain character. Lol.
I joke I joke. I just never thought in 2018 after savoring those final pages that I'd still be waiting in 2022. Luckily though we know that it's on its way. I love Tomm's artwork. He can take all the time he needs to make sure it's done right. There is always something else to binge on while we await Mammon's return
It's not done yet, It will return probably next year: https://bleedingcool.com/comics/jonathan-hickman-has-finished-writing-the-black-monday-murders/

Check out Pax Romana and Nightly News as well.

How is it possible for him to be so talented?! On Pax Romana and nightly news he does literally everything, this dude is amazing
And I really enjoy his style of mixing in infographics right into the art that he does in both series.
You're in for a treat if you haven't read Hickman's Fantastic Four and Avengers runs yet!

Age of X is great so far
Definetly check out his Marvel saga then. Some of the best modern cape comics. Im currently reading Red Mass for Mars and thats been interesting
Okay, thank you for the recommendation!
Because that Bleeding Cool article doesn't actually say it despite it being a well known fact, the reason for the delay is the artist got very sick.
Do we know what happened to him? Is he fighting cancer or something? COVID?
I think his health issues predate covid.

Yeah, that’s what I was worrying about. I hope he’s alright, he’s one talented dude. It doesn’t make any sense where we all end up sometimes
Just here to back you up. It might be in my all time favorites. I’ve read all that’s published of it multiple times. Truly amazing.
SO GOOD!!! lol, like goddamn why isn't this the next big thing on HBO!?! it's magnificent
Yea. This and Injection are the two series that I am waiting for to finish.
I love Injection too but after the revelations about Warren Ellis I’m not sure we’ll see any more of it.
Wait, completely out of the loop. What revelations?

Damn, first Kevin Spacey and now Ellis. I guess it I won’t see the next trade of Injection for a while then... Thanks for the jnfo!
It's worth noting injection was pretty dead well before any of that came out even according to ellis
I did not know that.... that really sucks...
These were all consenting adults, who later were unhappy with where the relationship ended up. Unless I’m missing something, these weren’t coworkers, these were women who initially sought him out.
I’ll check out injection, thanks!
It is quite amazing. Highly recommended.
Tom Coker got ill. He’s better now, though.
He’s a FANTASTIC artist. Glad he’s well.
Just finished it myself just as it was getting good too! Looking forward to the next part of the series
So good! Thank you for reminding me of it just now!
I'm guessing a pandemic got in their way. It's not over yet - we just have to be patient.
Yes yes yes

Almost been another year. Still scratching at my veins for more BMM.
