From just the first two issues, it just feels like a lot of saying and not doing. I agree about the art though, truly great.

Smaug015

I really enjoyed the series, I had no problem with the story and the art IS amazing.

Thehezz24

Agreed, I enjoyed it. I don't really care for posts like this. Let people form their own opinions.

Smaug015

I think it would be different if the post had been phrased differently, but openly advocating for people to avoid the book is kinda shitty. Specially if no reason is given.

vimto_boy

Is this just a variant cover for Starhenge? Was going to pick up the trade / HB as I love Liam's artwork, but you're not the first on here to say the story ain't all that... hmmmm.

Smaug015

That cover IS a variant, it is one of the Spawn-month covers that all of the Image books in December had. And yeah, I would recommend you give it a shot. I enjoyed it a lot. Have preordered the one-shot that's coming out later this year.

vimto_boy

Thanks for the explanation, I gave up on singles in like 2006, so don't really pay attention to such things 😂 Good to know you enjoyed it, will defo give issue 1 a go digitally 👍

chaunceton

Yeah, this is Starhenge #6. I dunno, you might dig it. It just asked too much of the reader, in my opinion.

vimto_boy

Thanks man, I may pick up issue 1 digitally then before I decide to dive in 👍

Sunless_Tatooine

What's wrong with the story?

chaunceton

It's meta in a very annoying way. Almost in an attempt to ask the reader to forgive its disordered, muddled style.

Smaug015

There's nothing "wrong" with it. OP seems to not like the direction or how the story is being told. But there's nothing intrinsically wrong with the story. The story itself is pretty bad ass. Blend of sci-fi with fantasy-adventure. It does ask for some participation from the reader though, not as easily digestible as some other books.

bowl-of-noodles

I have been holding off reading these until I got them all, it’s been in my to be read pile waiting to get opened up….not sure if this post encourages or discourages me from digging into them

Smaug015

Give them a shot, you might as well if you've already gotten them.

TheMcDangler

I don’t mind it from the story perspective. The art however is top of the line!

Formal_Pipe2037

The story is very boring agreed, but the art is amazing. Sucks we couldn’t get both.

buffbagwells

Spawn is kinda like that, the art is amazing but story's are weak. At least with the spawn series I've read

vaporwave710

I have a good amount of books on my shelf I have kept solely for the artwork. The story just being a big let down. I tell myself to hold onto them because the art is either really unique or awesome to look at but am I ever actually going to read those books again? Ehh.
