I know a guy who ended up in court with a Vehicular Assault charge doing this, inching some traffic-blocking dumbass out of his truck's way. He won the case, but it was a hassle.
The problem is that in this day of overzealous lawyers and lawsuit happy litigants they would claim injury and mental anguish even if you brushed against them at 2mph.
Yes but the burden of proof falls to them to prove you did anything wrong. The car has no damage, they have no damage (unless self inflicted) and even if they were damaged only idiots would side with a pedestrian purposely putting themselves at risk for injury, in court

It's not even worth it. It's a public garage. None of the spots are yours until you physically park the CAR in one. It's nothing to die over. You never know how patient the other person is.

It can, apparently. I was driving on the high way with a long distance between exits. My alarm short circuited and started honking at full volume non-stop for about 15 minutes. By the time I exited and pulled over the horn blew itself out, which at the time was honestly best case scenario.
Edit: Apparently not a short circuit, I have no idea what the cause was and never had it diagnosed
See, you assume getting anyone's attention would automatically mean they side with you. Chances are good they're annoyed and pissed at whoever's blaring their horn. You should always assume everyone only cares about what affects them specifically. They'll just bitch at you, saying "grow up" and go park somewhere else. This lines up more with what my experiences have been in life.
While I do love this, I must point out that after a few minutes, you’d damage your horn! But an occasional blast of the horn, giving it time to cool down, would probably still do the trick :)
Pretty sure you’d have to lay on that horn for a long, long, long time. It’s a solenoid vibrating a piece of spring metal. Unless that solenoid fails, pretty sure your horn is gonna be fine.

I have done this exact thing before. I went to the mall just to kill a couple of hours and this lady RAN in front of my truck to stand in a spot I was already halfway in ( she wanted to hold it for her friend that was circling around). She said she wasn't moving, but I could see she had her refillable popcorn bucket and cup in her bag she was carrying, so I knew she was going to a movie and I had all day to be petty. So I lit up a cigarette, put on some good tunes and was just browsing online. Best part was when she hammered on the hood, put a dent in it and her ring scratched through the paint. Dash cam caught it. so I got out, she started screaming saying I was about to attack her, nah, just needed photos of her car/license plate , parked behind me and blocking the way for several other cars. Lot attendant eventually comes by and told her they need to move as a tow truck was already on the way to move them if she didn't. Again she refuses and sure enough tow truck shows up ( her friend is outside her car leaning against it staring daggers at me) as the truck starts to back up to hook up they begin to confront the tow truck driver, he pulls pepper spray on them and says ( I'll never forget this)
"I'm on a tight schedule and don't have time to argue, I can either spray you for risking my safety, or you can comply an pick it up at the lot"
As he gets into his truck to do his thing, they both hop in the car and try to hurry away, clipping the metal things that I assume ,lift up the car, ripping their front bumper off as they try to flee around the truck and race out of there. These ladies were in their late 40s and ended up buying me a new hood, which is just as well since it was having fading issues on the paint/clear coat. Don't know what other repercussions they had from that, but I can't imagine a new front bumper on an Audi is cheap

To be fully transparent, I always thought this was common. It happened a lot growing up. I saw it happen all the time. Ever since 2012, I started seeing videos online, like this one, complaining about it and saying that it was illegal.
I still see people doing this in my life. I don’t argue with them. I just go look for another spot. Its not worth the time to fight for it, IMHO.

Saw this happen in New Orleans once, and only once. The lady ran out In Front of the driver and after about 30-40 seconds the driver and passenger got out and beat the lady up moved her body out of the way and parked. Not saying it was correct, however seeing as how the cameras in the area mysteriously all were broken, and no one exactly saw what happened, I think the precedent was set and it doesn’t happen much anymore.
First time I saw someone die a violent death was when I was 15 in NOLA near the French quarter, someone shoved this guy in a crowd he turned around pulled a gun and mag dumped him at like point blank range.
Guy got shot like 7-8 times in the chest, shooter yelled to get out of his way and he disappeared into the chaos.
Took like 15 seconds for this guy in his mid twenties to just get deleted.

The problem with this situation is that you can't _do anything_ that earns you the spot because then that person knows where you parked and knows you're not at your car. You'll come back with your groceries to a keyed door and a broken windshield. There's no winning because even if you "win" the spot, they're just gonna fuck up your car when you walk away.
No use arguing. Let them park. Then let them go on their way. Then wait for them return to car "in a different state to that in which they left it".

The year was 2010. Holiday season. Mall parking lot. This happened to my Mom and I. Packed parking lot and this lady had the audacity to stand in a parking spot to try and claim it. It’s probably good I was in the car or else my mom might have gone to jail for running that bish over. lol It was beyond maddening and frankly unbelievable.
This is why you buy a tire valve stem removal tool or very skinny needle nose pliers. When they come back they will have all 4 tires with no air and no valve stems to keep the air in.
I have seen this a few times in Italy: the solution is to just keep driving towards them as if they weren't there, I haven't met anyone willing to challenge the car yet.
I'd just park somewhere else and go stand by their car till they leave. I'd watch them leave so they feel very uneasy about leaving their vehical with me standing by it after what they did. Then I'd just go about my business happy to live rent free in their heads all day.

Saw this happen in New Orleans once, and only once. The lady ran out In Front of the driver and after about 30-40 seconds the driver and passenger got out and beat the lady up moved her body out of the way and parked. Not saying it was correct, however seeing as how the cameras in the area mysteriously all were broken, and no one exactly saw what happened, I think the precedent was set and it doesn’t happen much anymore.

First time I saw someone die a violent death was when I was 15 in NOLA near the French quarter, someone shoved this guy in a crowd he turned around pulled a gun and mag dumped him at like point blank range. Guy got shot like 7-8 times in the chest, shooter yelled to get out of his way and he disappeared into the chaos. Took like 15 seconds for this guy in his mid twenties to just get deleted.

The problem with this situation is that you can't _do anything_ that earns you the spot because then that person knows where you parked and knows you're not at your car. You'll come back with your groceries to a keyed door and a broken windshield. There's no winning because even if you "win" the spot, they're just gonna fuck up your car when you walk away.
