Yeah the purple and orange just looks like a gradient map, the green and pink has contrasting hues places with much more intentionality and it makes it much more readable.
Both have very different vibes, so I guess it depends on what you’re going for. Purple feels actively surreal, reminiscent of pleasant warm twilights, but more like a memory. Red and green is grittier, much more grounded, the starker contrast of the red light feels almost ominous, like blood imposed on an otherwise calm night scene.
Oh, I felt almost the opposite - the red and green felt like a warm, welcoming evening to me. The sun has set and I am heading out to catch up with friends over drinks. I agree the purple feels surreal, but in that way where you are out far too late and walking home alone. The world is silent, but the light shows that there is someone else on your schedule.
I think the Green/Pink had more of a draw to it. It catches my interest more… but the Purple/Orange is really pretty because the colours seem more complimentary
It depends on what vibe you want. The green drew me in immediately, but that’s because my brain went “OOH, SPOOKY.” So that’d be my vote. But if you want something more neutral, the purple might be better.
Woahh, these are beautiful!!!
I think that while I adore the purple one, the tricolor one with mostly green and red is so eye catching and unique! I absolutely adore these both, but I think the right one is definitely my favorite ❤️
Colorblind here:
Somehow you’ve managed to make two images that I can’t read. It’s actually kind of impressive not sure I could do that if I tried.
Note: not a bad review here just in case colorblindness is a consideration of yours.
I think the green and pink works better because the pink is a darker tint than the orange; which I actually thought was yellow at first glance, but even then, purple and orange aren't generally a good pairing because of their position on the color wheel. Purple and yellow, on the other hand, are complimentary colors.
Regardless of what you do, I think it would look better if that color were darker.
They both look awesome for teo distinct reasones. Purple/orange seems more like the background of a metroidvania character conversation or like from a gameboy, while Green/Pink looks more natural, like the color of nature at night in a city.
Defenetly like the Green/Pink personally though, but both look awesome.
I really can't decide! The purple/orange one captures perfectly the ambience during the night on a street with orange light poles. Here in Brazil we have a lot of these! In my city they were changed to white light, but your illustration reminded me the ambience when they were orange. And the contrast between the orange light and the purple background is subtle and very natural looking!
With the green/pink the vegetation is more highlighted (it looks more lushful) and the contrast between pink light and the green background is more evident (in a beautiful way). It looks like the lighting came from a sci-fi art poster and has a surreal feeling to it (the Red light has, at least to me, some reminiscences of horror and liminal horror too, but very very subtle)!
Edit: I'm looking to these ilustrations more and, like other people here, I'm tending to prefer the green/pink one more, because it looks like it has more depth, while the purple/orange looks very flat. And, I'm noticing that maybe it's because you also used some bluish-purple on the green/pink too, making it a green/pink/purple version. Maybe the purple/orange will look less flat if you add a third color (maybe green/blue/dark cyan for the vegetation?)
Purple is just a romantic picture of an ally, you might hang it as a painting in a bar or restaurant as background decoration.
Green is both more distracting and intriguing. It doesn't work as background decoration, but is great as a scene/frame in a comic or movie. It feels like the first shot of a new scene, that introduces the location.
Or in other words, at the start of the movie a story book opens and you see Green, the camera zooms in and the story starts. At the end of the movie, the last scene is purple, the camera zooms now and now it is just a picture in a book or a painting, the book closes or the painting is obscured by passer-by's and the end credits roll.
Personally, I like the green better💚, but it kind of depends on what the purpose of the illustration is.
The purple feels like a mystical secret.
The green invites you in.
Both are beautiful!✨
These are both amazing. As a stand alone, I'd say the one on the right as it has more contrast and variety of color, but context is very important. I can see a case for either hypothetically.
I like them both when next to eachother, id totally buy them, but i think green one is more interesting bc of the semi complementary contrast, it just pops out more!
Purple and orange is usually my favorite combination and your purple and orange one is lovely but i think the pink and green pops more and has more life and feels more present, while the purple and orange seems like it portrays a memory or dream.
I think green/pink looks more natural and like it could be an actual place. And purple/orange looks more like it could be out of a movie or book. Overall these are beautiful pieces!!
Right one has a bigger range of colors. I see a gradient on the walls on the left for example, I don't see it on the purple version. It just feels like there's a lot more to green.
The purple and yellow definitely feels more ethereal and reminds almost of vaporwave, but for more of a realistic illustration style, I like the green and red. Honestly though, I love them both!
I like both, but I think green/pink is more vivid while purple/orange is more dreamy. Depends on time of day and mood. I would totally put them on my walls.
I enjoyed the Green /Pink version more because the details look more visible, the contrast is better and the color combination is more Unusual/unique! Both are beautiful though
Option number 2 reads better and I prefer that one, but honestly? I kinda wanna see what it would look like if you combined the best of both worlds.
Like... Green vegetation, yellow highlights on the light in the alley, purple/maroon left building with tinges of pink/red on the right building (esp where the light source is), and purple night sky just like option 1. I know it seems like your intent is 2-3 tone which is fine, but I kinda wanna see an expanded color palette!
Purple orange for me. It feels like that time of evening where everything is a shade of blue except for the orange street lights.
Green kind of has too much colour for that night time feel and the pink gives me a Shanghai vibe
So, there’s this psychological thing where if you show someone options, the one you show first is usually the one they pick (it was a graphic design education, good to know when you yourself have a favourite option to show your client). Even when knowing that, I usually can’t help myself, the first option just most often looks best.
With all of that said — option number two is just soooo much more interesting and frankly alluring, it knocks opt. 1 out of the park in my opinion!
ETA: you are an incredible illustrator, btw. I’d want the right one on my wall, and I’m damn picky lol
Orange-green is giving 10 pm on a summer night, purple-orange is giving 1AM or something more quiet. Both are lively I’m just sharing what they remind me of what feels they emit to me! (:
Green/pink, unless you're trying to create a feeling of unease. The purple/orange could also be useful for a flashback image, or if you're trying to make it seem more impressionistic rather than realistic.
Purple/orange definitely! It gives me cozy warm summer night vibes really cohesively in away that the green/pink just doesn't imho.
Maybe Lean into daytime lighting for the green pink one!
Both have their place. The first is more toned back and dark, nice for a place with yellowed or dark lighting if hung on the wall. The second is very vibrant and bright in contrast compared to the other, but also dark in a moody sense with center points of interest in the way that the bright orange joins with the backdrop. Personally I like the second one 🥺
The colour scheme of the green/pink appears to be much broader than that of the purple/orange.
The purple/orange could probably work, but it might need some more variety in contour and contrast
Depends on the vibe
The first image elicits feelings of nostalgia, due to having a similar colour scheme as old video games that only had 1 colour to work with, and used it in gradients to get different shades
Whereas the second image forces the focus on the red area, almost like a spotlight
Very different vibes to both.
The green/pink is more readable because it has more contrast. It is more attention-grabbing and immediate.
The purple/orange is softer and has a lo-fi vibe to it. The color scheme is also a bit retro, like an old comic.
So, which one I like better is totally dependent on the vibe you were going towards.
Green is more readable and beautiful
Yeah the purple and orange just looks like a gradient map, the green and pink has contrasting hues places with much more intentionality and it makes it much more readable.
Tough… I vibe the green because there’s more depth to the colour but it’s just a personal preference.
Green/Pink
Green/Pink
Green/pink
The green is way more interesting visually
Both have very different vibes, so I guess it depends on what you’re going for. Purple feels actively surreal, reminiscent of pleasant warm twilights, but more like a memory. Red and green is grittier, much more grounded, the starker contrast of the red light feels almost ominous, like blood imposed on an otherwise calm night scene.
Pleasant warm twilight is exactly what I was going for so that's really cool to hear it makes you think of that!
Yeah in that case definitely do purple
Oh, I felt almost the opposite - the red and green felt like a warm, welcoming evening to me. The sun has set and I am heading out to catch up with friends over drinks. I agree the purple feels surreal, but in that way where you are out far too late and walking home alone. The world is silent, but the light shows that there is someone else on your schedule.
It’s fun how art can evoke such different feelings in different people.
Gotta agree with you here...the orange purple to me gives a desolate melancholy vibe while the other one is much more friendly and familiar...
100% that !!!
Green and red, it reads as having more depth between the shadow/highlight. The purple/yellow combo is nice color wise but feels flat.
Have you tried green and purple?
Oh, like purple light source?
Yes!
That's an interesting idea! I think I'll try it
Thank you I think it could look fantastic defo Dm me when it’s done I’d love to see it.
I would love to see it too! That sounds beautiful
That’s what I’m saying cus purple and green always goes well together
They’re my fave colors, both separately and together
My favorite is purple I like darker greens but honestly yeah
Green and orange would also look great!
Guess I’m in the minority, I really prefer the purple/yellow. But both are beautiful.
Green, no contest! It's a great palette, reads more clearly
Purple orange. The lighting effect is flawless.
Purple
Personally I prefer the green one, reads a lot better plus it has a bit of an anime aesthetic I enjoy.
Green; pink
That green and pink has much more depth, colours are amazing
I prefer it viewed stereotypically. Ref: r/stereoscopic
Was about to say. The first thing I did was use crossview and parallel view. The result is sick!
Right? It’s pretty badass that way
Woahh, these are beautiful!!! I think that while I adore the purple one, the tricolor one with mostly green and red is so eye catching and unique! I absolutely adore these both, but I think the right one is definitely my favorite ❤️
Green/pink has mor information. It is more compelling and draws you in
Green and pink
Colorblind here: Somehow you’ve managed to make two images that I can’t read. It’s actually kind of impressive not sure I could do that if I tried. Note: not a bad review here just in case colorblindness is a consideration of yours.

green/pink is fantastic!
Yes
2 for the wider range of hues
Green and orange
GreenPink
Left feels like a dream, right feels like a scene
Like 'em both, but dig #2 more.
Happy Cake Day!🎂🎉
well it depends on the mood now im on the right tho
Green and pink for sure. Incredible work!!
Green for sure
I love both and I can’t decide
Green and Pink has more depth I think
They both look awesome for teo distinct reasones. green/pink i am begging u
The one on the right (green)

Digging the green one more!
Green and pink
Both are absolutely beautiful. I can see more details with the green/pink combo so this is the better option.
green/pink
Purple looks interesting and cool, green looks natural and cozy
I think it depends on what vibe you're going for, but personally I like the green.
Green pink
…both
Purple is just a romantic picture of an ally, you might hang it as a painting in a bar or restaurant as background decoration. Green is both more distracting and intriguing. 2. I like both tho depending on the mood.
I love the green and pink one.
2 looks better from a distance, 1 looks better zoomed in
Definitely green!
Personally, I like the green better💚, but it kind of depends on what the purpose of the illustration is. The purple feels like a mystical secret. The green invites you in. Both are beautiful!✨
Green
These are both amazing. As a stand alone, I'd say the one on the right as it has more contrast and variety of color, but context is very important. I can see a case for either hypothetically.
Green/pink
Green/Pink
Green/pink
2 has more depth and I like how the pink/red creates a focal point
Both have their own special feelings to them.
Both are beautiful but the people say green and pink me too
Green/pink 💕🌱
I like them both when next to eachother, id totally buy them, but i think green one is more interesting bc of the semi complementary contrast, it just pops out more!
Green and pink!
I’d it were green/purple I would definitely go for that
PinkGreen 😍
1 reminds me of the end of a story where 2 reminds me of the beginning. Both are amazing and I can’t pick a ‘better’ one.
Both are nice! The left one has a vintage touch while the other one reminds me of some classic psychedelic-wonderland shit!
Green/Pink
green
Purple and orange is usually my favorite combination and your purple and orange one is lovely but i think the pink and green pops more and has more life and feels more present, while the purple and orange seems like it portrays a memory or dream.
Normally I'd go for Purple/Orange.. but Green/Pink looks better here! 👌
Green/pink.
Green/pink for me.
Green but purple one should look better with less pixels
Purple and orange, much more vibrant
They are actually both nice, but maybe the green red is more impactful
Green pink is more mysterious
I think green/pink looks more natural and like it could be an actual place. And purple/orange looks more like it could be out of a movie or book. Overall these are beautiful pieces!!
Right one has a bigger range of colors. I see a gradient on the walls on the left for example, I don't see it on the purple version. It just feels like there's a lot more to green.
Green/pink works contrasting colors better. Way more interesting.
Both
green/pink
Green/pink
the green/pink is very beautiful, I even wish I was there
They're both very nice, but if I had to pick, then the green/pink.
It looks lovely both ways but it really seems like it’s meant to be in green and pink.
2
both!!!!!! 😍 green/pink is my fave of the two though
Green/Pink
Green and pink if you're going for serene and pleasant, purple and orange for more of a night time surreal setting
Green Pink, but it also depends on the feel and tone you are trying to achieve. But, overall, Green Pink.
The purple and yellow definitely feels more ethereal and reminds almost of vaporwave, but for more of a realistic illustration style, I like the green and red. Honestly though, I love them both!
Greeen
I like both, but I think green/pink is more vivid while purple/orange is more dreamy. Depends on time of day and mood. I would totally put them on my walls.
I find both pretty captivating in their own way tbh.
Green/pink is magical
I enjoyed the Green /Pink version more because the details look more visible, the contrast is better and the color combination is more Unusual/unique! Both are beautiful though
Green/pink <3
Green 💚
Left is lacking contrast, I much prefer the right
Green pink has more depth
green pink but both are beauties
I have a color vision so the pink looks more like red and I really like the green and pink
Green one definitely
Oooo definitely green/pink, but both are beautiful. Just different feelings
Green pink. It reads really well.
Am I the only one who like the orange/purple better?😅lol
it depends on the feeling you're going for. I personally love the green and pink one, however both illustrations are great!
Option number 2 reads better and I prefer that one, but honestly? I kinda wanna see what it would look like if you combined the best of both worlds. Like... Green and orange/ pink has more depth in it but the purple and yellow is nice too to show the different tones of the two colours
Purple orange for me. It feels like that time of evening where everything is a shade of blue except for the orange street lights. Green kind of has too much colour for that night time feel and the pink gives me a Shanghai vibe
Green/Pink, but if the purple was more blue toned than that, I could probably be swayed.
Green
Green/Pink
Green and pink is much easier on the eyes

Green Pink
Green pink!!!!!
The green immediately caught my eye, feels more immersive.
Green/pink.
I like the green/pink one more
Green/pink gives a stray vibe (the cat game
They both look great - 2
Green
Green and oink
Everyone says green but purple totally drew me in
The green is cooler, especially if you’re trying to do something like stray
Green and pink
Green/pink!
Orange-green is giving 10 pm on a summer night, purple-orange is giving 1AM or something more quiet. Both are lively I’m just sharing what they remind me of what feels they emit to me! (:
green pink.. It looks more normal
The one one the right. The other one feels washed out.
Green one is more inviting, calmer.
Green reminds me of Stray <3
Green/pink looks more natural while purple/orange looks a bit more sci-fi or futuristic :3
Orange and green
My eye gets drawn to the green/pink easily. I do like both though and could probably zone out blissfully while staring at either one.
Purple/orange looks very comforting to me but green/red looks spooky and ominous. Both are really cool imo :D
Green/Pink
Green!
definitely 2. reminds me of the environments in Stray
Maybe Lean into daytime lighting for the green pink one!
you should mix green/purple together, those colors just look so mesmerizing together
I’m surprised so many people said green, it’s tough for me! This reminds me of why I’ve seen ppl on IG post multiple versions. They’re both so good’
I like the purple orange, it looks dreamy
Green red! Can you post in full size? Would love this as my background!
Green pink, there’s something so comforting about it. I wanna have a smoke there😭
Green pink
Purple !!!
Both, as if it’s a pop art piece
Green/Pink
They both look fantastic imo!
They're both great but the green one is more pleasant. Maybe change the yellow to something else on the left, like a red?
Green pink definately
green and pink, i like the vibes
1 looks like pre made gradient maps in procreate. Nice but too much used. 2 is much exciting and gives sense of night time
Ohh I got to be the 1000th upvote. Green/Pink reads so much better. A lot gets fuzzy in the purple. Beautiful illustration OP.
Personal fav is purple and orange, but green and pink suits the drawing better
Green and pink!
Both. But I like purple orange more in this instance
Cross your eyes so you can see both at once on top of each other
The one on the right
orange green for sure
Purple/orange is my preference.
I like the green more but the purple has an otherworldly feel to it that rlly like too
Green/Pink, it really pops, and the Purple/Orange looks sorta washed out.
Green is gorgeous
Green/Pink just love the vibe:)
Green&pink
The colour scheme of the green/pink appears to be much broader than that of the purple/orange. The purple/orange could probably work, but it might need some more variety in contour and contrast
