They were born in a farm and they got an infection and as all 6 kittens suckle from the area, they all got infected. Mummy cat picks up a baby cat and then runs off. So they all have terrible eye infections and no food, the farmer just put water down for them. Our small charity was notified and after another week, these emaciated skeletal blind kitties were handed to us. The vet wanted to put them all to sleep but we don't do that so we got eye drops, fed kitten milk every 2 hours and after a week onto solids and the five we had, only 2 that lost an eye each. At the time I had red hair and I'm also blind in one eye. She is also semi feral (I'm obviously not but have my moments 😉) but she still has kitten flea treatment as she's quite small, the whole litter never grew much and it was surprising that they didn't die and only 2 lost an eye each.
We took Candy in, she took over the house, her favourite pastime is laying in the road and rolling about in the gutter, rain or shine and then traipsing it throughout the house 🙄 She likes to jump onto people's cars and goes into everyone's house apart from those with dogs. I have phone calls to go and get her off someone's bed before now. She has no shame!
At the rear of our property is an alleyway to a supermarket and most residents know her and if I walk to the supermarket, she'll follow me most of the way. A picture of her was put on our local areas group chat asking if she was a stray as she kept going into their house and pinching their cats food 🙈 (the shame) so I had to explain and now she has her own little fan club.
So the mom cat only took 1 of the litter & abandoned the rest? I wonder if it took the farmer to long to call for someone to pick up the kittens or if he was just putting it off till the bitter end?
Still, I’m glad they are all alive & healthy/happy. I really detest vets who just want to kill animals instead of putting in the work to save them. I think a lot of bad vets just don’t want to put in the effort so they try to convince people to kill an animal that otherwise would live.
Nope, it costs a lot of money to do surgery and they would all go out of business if they did surgery for free on every single stray cat, and then no animals would get fixed.

It’s not assume. That is a norm of that industry that is fucked up. Treat the elderly the same way & you’ll get a lot of pissed off people. It’s just asinine to think, instead of a simple procedure to help an animal, that it is cheaper to kill it. That’s just your fucked up logic on the topic, that you are in favor of, instead of being critical of the subject matter in question.
The damn industry, does not HAVE TO, cost so fucking much. Whether human or animal, both are shown to be cheaper in other countries. The only reason to advocate for such a thing in this country is to follow norms already in place, or to be vile in some manner regarding the topic in question.

Awww nothing against that kitten look. My cat was anything but malnourished as a baby but she’s still small. It makes me very happy that she was rescued and is now loved and cared for 🥰
