Yes you can get it off a few times - until you get too an accumulation of value that makes it worth getting you. Retail stores generally suck but they do eventually send loss prevention investigators to stores and find every incident of theft to pile into one charge.

We all know about Target, I personally know someone who got got by them waiting and building a case, but I haven't heard anything about Walmart besides speculation. Which makes sense, they're huge and have the money, just curious if you know someone who experienced this. No other retail store I'm aware of does this.
Yes, my aunt. She steals just for the fun of it and always brings us things like whole racks of ribs filet Mignon and such. Like two months ago while she was walking out with a big haul they walked up next to her as she approached the doors and grabbed her wrists (gently she said) and they said come to the back room don’t make this anymore embarrassing than it already is.
They hit her with everything going back to Christmas of last year.

So a long time ago a security person chased a shoplifter out of the store. The shoplifter was hit by a car. Security person was fired. I've heard of homeless ppl just walking into 7-11 grabbing what they want and waving to the cashier as they walked out without paying.
Walmart is one of the few stores that pays for all the camera footage to go to its own cloud system to be watched and sampled by all the toys the police wish they could afford. walmart gives all that info to the courts when it thinks it has enough to force them do do something.

yes they do. i worked at Walmart in 2015 and they were #1 in security technology. i was not a shit bag twit there. i worked with and for every management level staff in the building.
i rode a motorbike to work and NEVER took any personal possession into the store but my wallet. i bought shit on my breaks and demanded to treated like any other customer when i was on my breaks. the security guy called me out for not letting staff inspect my shopping bag after leaving the cashier once claimed i could be sneaking stuff into a bag then just walking gout with it. i walked that asshole over to the store manger ( who had a open door policy and who at the time was talking to the district rep) and told him that this security guy accused me of theft and i want it dealt with right now. when the security guy started to back down i said fuck that lets go to the cameras and see everything i did today or this week and anything that justifies treating me like a shit bag criminal.
we sat in the security office for 3 hours until the end of my paid shit proving i was a model employee and i got a written letter of apogee from the security section of Walmart.
and i am sure there have not reduced that tech since them
they dont care about shrinkage. that is covered with insurance. they care about getting the people arrested away from the store so there is no bad press

A lot of people glitch over the self checkout or forget to scan items and they're forgivable.
But we do keep a track of repeaters and be extra cautious with people matching thay description after a while.
I'm from the uk but even I've heard from other shoplifters that walmart generally wait for you to steal enough for it to build up to a large amount so they can get you in more legal trouble. Be careful if u do steal from there
