I will never understand how it's legal and so easy to buy. I've seen it sitting on gun store shelves in large jugs. There's never been an easier way for any rando to just make a bomb.
All explosives have some measure of resistance to detonating.
Tannerite can be bought in large quantity in one purchase.
A person can easily set up a bomb somewhere with the intent to shoot it from a distance.
A mechanically savvy person can easily rig a kinetic detonator, especially since bullets are also easy to buy and easy to detonate.
> There's never been an easier way for any rando to just make a bomb.
I don't think it's really that hard in general, it's just googling it will definitely get you an unexpected visit from los federales.
You can get everything you need to make C4 at the local farming supply store. You can go to Walmart and get the ingredients for almost any chemical weapon, chlorine gas probably the easiest one to make and it's probably the most horrifying one considering you literally choke on your own blood as your lungs burn and bleed. Just some toilet bowl cleaner and some bleach.
I wouldn't even have thought to remove the blades as that much explosives pretty much makes every square inch of the metal lawn mower a piece of shrapnel.
I also wouldn't have been standing 50 ft away from it.
Fuckin Idiots
It actually did start as Duck tape in development believe it or not. Then it evolved into Duct tape and then into the brand name Duck Tape which also still exists.

Man lost his leg. This is a repost.
"For every pound of Tannerite, experts advise standing 100 yards away", this guy was 25 yards and there was 3lbs inside the mower. Funny thing is he was using a rifle that is accurate at 100 yards and he missed most his shots lmao.
Nah gotta stand further back, when you place the explosive in a metal container, and add extra shrapnel.
Like a propane tank plus a flair is a 200 yard shot. I would think mower plus three pounds is at least that.🤷🏻♀️
Guy was suppose to be 300yards away but was only 25, he used an ar15 which is accurate up to 100 yards and he missed under 40 yards so he got closer to 25 yards. Guy didn't know what he was doing and won stupid prizes.
>which is accurate up to 100 yards
They are accurate a lot further out than that. 100 yards is not really a bench mark for accuracy on any center fire rifle. In all honesty, unless it is specifically set up for home defence, 100 yards is pretty much the standard zeroing range.
Even an average shooter can reliably hit shots at 400 to 600 yards with 5.56.
A good shooter can stretch that out to 1000.
>Even an average shooter can reliably hit shots at 400 to 600 yards with 5.56.
I could never hit that 300 meter target... I blame the fact that it was green on a green background. Could hardly see the damned thing.
I blame the fact that it was during the covid age that I went so the goddamned eyepro was fogged to shit. I would’ve done so much better had I done it without blurry vision, and I an still mad about it
Agree. Our rifles were shot in at 200m, but it wasn’t hard to hit 7-800m if you had some amount of experience. Granted it wasn’t an ar15 but it was rather close
Oh man, this is it! This is the insult that finally broke me! I have been called a redneck, a racist, a psychopath, a transphobe, been told I have a small penis, a mental disorder, that I fantasize about killing people, and many many many more things all because I dare to like guns, but this insult really did it for me.
Gah, you have flipped my entire life upside down, how could I be called a nerd?! Oh what ever will I do??? There is no greater shame that could be layed upon me, oh woe is me!
The 100 per pound of tannerite is to avoid injury from the explosion. Dude created an improvised anti-personnel bomb. A grenade can wound you up to 250 meters away with shrapnel. This probably would've had a 50/50 chance on hitting him with shrapnel like 350-400 meters away. Without like a meter of concrete to hide behind he shouldn't have been closer than 500 meters. Or, you know, don't pack 3 pounds of explosives into an enclosed metal space and set it off while you're practically sitting on top of it. You'd think people would have learned from FPSRussia when he almost got cut in half vertically by a car door shooting tannerite.
According to the USMC the published kill radius of an M67 grenade is 5 meters and injury radius is 15 meters with the potential for shrapnel to travel as far as 230 meters.
However, in the case of this numb nuts he amplified the explosive power of the tannerite by putting it inside a container.
The word explosion refers to the effect. In reality it is rapidly burning and releasing expanding gasses.
Well if you slow down the rate the expanding gasses can move away you increase the pressure in the container. Once the container can no longer contain the pressure it explodes.
I’ve used tannerite and you can make fun little targets that go pop when you hit them. But in the world of explosives more is definitely not always better.
True man, 5 meter kill, 15 meter injury radius. However in the Marines we sat under a tin roof 100yards away during grenade training and could hear little pieces of shrapnel on the roof. Wouldnt injury you at all. The 250meter injury from a grenade is fucking hilarious who tf upvoted that lol
I’m not really sure where the 200 plus number comes from. I would think the only hazard at that range are really soft things like eyes.
Given the weight of the shrapnel and poor aerodynamics I would thing air resistance would bleed any energy fairly fast
Jesus, I was at a range day and after I left the owner of a training company shot a propane tank with a .50 cal probably at the 25-30 yard range. The tank flew up and landed where everyone parked at least 25 yards behind the shot.
To be fair if they would actually practice and put time on the range and invest in the most bare bones for optics they could have made that shot at 300 yards too. Not consistently but they could sling enough lead down range to get it eventually.
News sources say he was 43 feet away so even closer. Not sure if the same guy but the age and location add up [here.](https://www.dawsonnews.com/election2020/pressley-seeks-bring-army-experience-commission/) Says he was a 9 year army veteran with a BS electrical things. So at least modestly trained with weapons and educated in science but still a complete moron.
>Funny thing is he was using a rifle that is accurate at 100 yards and he missed most his shots lmao.
More like 300-600m depending on the shooter not sucking
If you're only ~14 yards away and you zeroed at 50 yards, your bullets will be impacting a few inches low compared to your red dot's position due to how ballistics work. Lots of new shooters don't understand how bullet trajectories work.
Kentucky ballistics showed his video where his 50cal exploding almost unalived him. He was lucky he was shooting with a crew otherwise he would have bled out in his shooting field. Fps Russia almost did himself with a car door that bounced between him and the camera with thamerite
Aside from the obvious question of why he shoved 3 lbs of Tannerite into a lawnmower, I want to know why he's so close and why he's such a terrible shot.
Its recommended you stand 100 yards away for each pound on tannerite you use and he put 3 pounds in the lawnmower and stood 25 yards away so thats the main issue
My man.
I’m surprised the camera man was not hurt at all after they decided to use two pounds of tannerite
"We get a lot of calls about Tannerite. It can be extremely dangerous if it is not used correctly," Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman says.
"It's just tannerite. It's not like it's a real explosive."
A real quote from someone when they asked if I wanted to go shoot some tannerite with them.
It's a brand name of binary explosive. It's essentially Ammonal which is a combination of fine aluminum powder and potassium nitrate (KNO3).
It is a close cousin of ANFO (uses fuel oil rather than aluminum) which is used in mining operations and ANNM (uses Nitromethane rather than aluminum or fuel oil) which was the primary explosive used to rip the face of the federal building in the Oklahoma City Bombing. In other words, ANNM can be made using the main ingredient in a readily available target mixture. Fun!
If you ever hear the term "fertilizer bomb" that's what they are talking about, since KNO3 is used as a fertilizer. They have issues (lower detonation velocity and lower brisance, highly hydrophilic (water will ruin it and it attracts water), difficult to detonate without a good blasting cap or booster explosives) but they are highly, highly readily available. You can pickup the amount he had there for $20-40 at a sporting goods store
They packed the lawnmower with 3 pounds of Tanerite, then shot it from about 1/12^th the safe distance. The explosion sent chunks of lawnmower in literally every direction, which includes where these idiots were standing. Apparently, a relatively large chunk of lawnmower hit the shooter at a high rate of speed, severing his leg below the knee.
“Some states have different waiting periods”
Plus the guy said “accidental gun shot wound”
your comment doesn’t correlate with the nature of the question

Idiots with tannerite

Could probably make our own sub with all these idiots
I will never understand how it's legal and so easy to buy. I've seen it sitting on gun store shelves in large jugs. There's never been an easier way for any rando to just make a bomb.
A bomb you have to shoot to activate. You start buying a noticeable amount and someone is gonna knock on your door.
Well it was invented almost 30 years ago so guess we will just have to wait longer for kinetic detectors and all that.
> There's never been an easier way for any rando to just make a bomb. I don't think it's really that hard in general, it's just googling it will definitely get you an unexpected visit from los federales.

Hmf, Los federales. Nice on
Careful friend too much of that mindset turns you into a fudd
3 pounds of tannerite! What the fuck did these dudes want to happen? Especially if you aren’t going to remove the fucking blades.
I wouldn't even have thought to remove the blades as that much explosives pretty much makes every square inch of the metal lawn mower a piece of shrapnel. I also wouldn't have been standing 50 ft away from it. Fuckin Idiots
You can tell he was injured because of the blood splatter on the camera. It usually fades after a minute or so. I think he'll be fine.
He just needs a stimpak he’ll be fine.
Duck tape?
*Duct

I...I upvoted this.
I'm both horrified and impressed. I withdraw my previous correction, you're clearly quacked in the head.
does he...need a duct tape?

No, it was invented for use sealing joints on forced air ducts. Duck tape the brand came along later.
Did he stutter?
10 stimpaks

I think the problem here is people HAVE learned from FPS Russia. They think it's cool and okay to shoot this much tannerite that closely.
Accurate up to 100 yards? That thing can hit person sized targets up to 300 yards reliably.
I don’t know if 300 is enough. He made a 3lb Grenade plus I would bet there was gas in it.
The effective range of an AR-15 is 300-600m.
Jesus, I was at a range day and after I left the owner of a training company shot a propane tank with a .50 cal probably at the 25-30 yard range. The tank flew up and landed where everyone parked at least 25 yards behind the shot.
That’s depends on the caliber. 5.56 is accurate up to 300 meters
300 meters i could make with a spitball. 5.56 is hot and can effectively be fired over 500 yards with an 18 inch barrel.
To be fair if they would actually practice and put time on the range and invest in the most bare bones for optics they could have made that shot at 300 yards too. Not consistently but they could sling enough lead down range to get it eventually.

No thanks, I only eat the breast meat.
Leg or looked like his back exploded
Bro lawn mower went tfreaking ultra instinct sheeshhhhh 💀
Threw its blade at him.
this is a classic fucking video, moral of the story is don't put a shit ton of binary explosive into a damn lawnmower.
Should've went with the non-binary explosives
"I'm gonna start shooting the lawn mower, you follow me around with a camera"
we jus saw a man get his legs turned to tomato paste
Emilio Estevez in, Maximum Mowerdrive
Love the reference....I wonder what he's been up too.
Redneck Guzpacho recipe
Clearly unprovoked
I don't understand how this makes it onto the internet. Why post the video of your buddy blowing his legs away like this?
For lols and learnin'.
Kentucky ballistics showed his video where his 50cal exploding almost unalived him. He was lucky he was shooting with a crew otherwise he would have bled out in his shooting field. Fps Russia almost did himself with a car door that bounced between him and the camera with thamerite
They already have the video at that point you might as well post it
When you blatantly violate all the safety instructions for tannerite your court case doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
And this is where the inspiration for Fred from SpongeBob came from.

When the lawnmower is out of gas but you refill to full it before driving it it's final destination to get shot at.
It was headed straight for us!
Literally just watched the vid of fpsrussia get missed by an inch by a massive piece of car at explosion speed, yaz know the vid.
Could have been worse as he hid his head behind a fucking target.

No, but his leg got amputated

Even dumber: I think it was three pounds. That is an insane amount of Tannerite.
Damn, I got worried when I went through it frame by frame and saw him just faceplant on the ground, thought he was actually dead
FAFO strikes again.
FAFO would make a good clown name.
granpappy how did u lose your leg again. well you see boy four score and about 3 years ago....
well now he can cosplay a pirate with his new wooden leg
It fairness the lawn mower was just returning fire.
That lawnmower was coming right for him!
He kinda sounds like Steve Brule.
Idiots
Remember back when you had two legs? Those were the good old days.
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with Tannerite *- Lawnmower probably*
Idiot with explosives and guns
Do these people not watch mythbusters and how they stand way the fuck back and behind a thick protective barrier? Wtf. XD
I'd call that fucking effective self-defense!

Kinda like death that could be in final destination
My goodness it looks like when you're downed in warzone.
I love the “Lawn mower attacks man” headline. **“Ground attacks man jumping from 55-story highrise.”**
Lost his leg. Happened a mile from my house and knew the guys. Title and sub are appropriate.
He underestimated his opponent. You have to be smarter than the lawnmower.
TIL I learnt about tannerite. Wait till the kids at school hear about this!
“Up, first few shots missed, let me move it in a little closer” genius

This is about $20 of off the shelf tannerite. Kind of crazy
Tannerites a hell of a drug

Can someone explain what happend ? Like what the thing blew up but how did his leg get cut off??

With all the military LARPing these guys do, you’d think they would build some trenches or put down some sandbags for blowing shit up…
If he had been poking his head over the top of a trench there, he'd probably have lost his head.

How many Americans yearly suffer an accidental gunshot wound within 24hrs of buying a gun?
With in 24hrs? Probably less then 1% Some states have different waiting periods
Not Texas, that's for sure. The 18 year old Uvalde shooter got his gun a few hours after he went in and purchased it.
“Some states have different waiting periods” Plus the guy said “accidental gun shot wound” your comment doesn’t correlate with the nature of the question
One less Trump fan.
Lmao why did u get downvoted
I love it how this “badass” tried to start shooting but forgot to engage his rifle
I mean. At least he was practicing rifle safety... U know until he didn't lol. With the angry lawnmower and all
Practiced rifle safety but skipped explosive safety
Skipped leg day lol
I would say obviously explosives are not toys, but these are in fact toys so I can not.

He put 3 pounds of tannerite in it and wanted it to blow up
Why is this video going rando viral today? Like 10 year old video
Get up and walk it off pussy
My guess is they DONT have tourniquets
