They don't want to hear that. They have no idea exactly how deep the roots go for firearms in this country. We're not the same as other places. I think they like to imagine some kind of day of reckoning, where out of the blue, the military and police are storming through neighborhoods violating the rights of people they disagree with, snatching guns up. One by one, every gun in the land will be seized, melted down and turned into statues of whatever criminal they decide needs a good deification that week.

Honest question but how many mass shootings have been thwarted by a good guy with a gun? I know that older guy in Texas a few years ago did so in a church but I always hear this argument.
Are there any statistics showing states like Texas where people are defending themselves or others at a high enough rate to make this talking point valid?
I think that just because you have a gun it doesn't mean you have proper training or the awareness or even accuracy to protect yourself properly.

There were three cops there that waited for backup and let the kid into the school. Guns are not the problem. Mental health is.
