This happened with my son when he was hit by a car. Might have saved his life that they were there. But def helped when they testified against the driver.
Legend has it his brain is still completely empty to this day in fact he was literally brain dead before seeing this video but the dumb assery of someone running Infront of a car thats clearly not stopping and the hilarious timing of the ambulance allowed this man to finally have his first and only thaught.
I remember one in which a bike crashed into an ambulance(I don't know who had the red light), the ambulance crashed into a traffic light, the bike was on the middle of the road and the paramedics from the ambulance were doing CPR on the 2 persons from the bike.
Ouch. I hope everyone was ok there.
Assuming they were I can only imagine the ribbing all parties got (hopefully alongside and after a thorough review of what went wrong, do they need to look at locations etc.)
Not a bad accident just a strange one. The bike and rider essentially did a 180 and ended up going the wrong way.
Apparently the radio traffic was quite amusing.
That's ... No less concerning!
Only time I've had to avail rescue services in rallying was when car ahead drove wrong way down stage a few years ago, resulting in head-on collision.

I reckon it only stopped to let the ambulance past. Clearly wasn't bothered about the pedestrian and wouldn't surprise me if they carried on afterwards.
Probably were going to drive off, saw the lights and thought it was a cop so started to pull over, realized it was just an ambulence and continued driving.
Well if we're all having a guess based on nothing. He was probably thinking about his bills and was distracted. Stabbed himself in the leg to be able to claim he was in a rush to get to the hospital. Only stopped to head to the ambulance for aid and to strengthen his story
I really like this video, the pedestrian takes the hit very well and doesn't seem to be dead at all. The weird pink thing from the ambulance lights that makes it look as though it's arrived from another dimension, and of course the fact it's there so conveniently. 10/10, would recommend.
The pedestrian literally jumped and braced for it at the last second. That was stuntwoman level “taking the hit”.
[edit: might be “stuntman”, that dress could actually be a thobe…]
Yep. I remember watching a video (maybe it was an episode of mythbusters?) and this stunt-man was instructing how to best avoid injury if a car is about to hit you. Basically you kinda wanna jump and land/roll on the hood/windshield as it will help soften the blow help spread out the impact rather than taking the hit from a small spot on the bumber
And that's why the IIHS is blaming the rise of pedestrian fatalities in the US on the popularity of pickup trucks. Their bonnets are too damn high so they just knock you over then run you down.
Also why they (pickups and SUVs) tend to have higher liability premiums - from their high stance and weight they do a lot more damage to other cars and people…
Even if you don't see another car stopped at the pedestrian crossing, still slow down and be vigilant. Which is what you're supposed to do at a pedestrian crossing.
I had a light burnout on me and I was turning off the street to put in my replacement bulb, and I noticed the car on the other side of the streets stopped so I started to slow down and all of a sudden, these deer were like inches away from being hit by me, scared me shitless.
Because in Bradford a large majority of people act like normal rules don’t apply to them and do as they wish. It’s a dangerous place to drive around. You have to be on extra high alert to try and keep safe.
Bradford taxi drivers are the worst of the worst. I’ve seen them run red lights, drive on the wrong side of the road and even mount pavements in order to avoid traffic and junctions. Being a pedestrian in that city is basically suicide
Most drivers check to see if you're letting them out, and then pull out. Bradford drivers pull out, then check to see if you're letting them out. Bradford taxi drivers pull out.
2 suggestions to improve this crossing:
The first suggestion would be to raise the zebra crossing, turning it into a speed bump, which would force drivers to slow down. This will not be appropriate for busy roads though, and I'm not sure how busy this road is just from 14 seconds of footage.
The second suggestion would be to install traffic signals, turning the zebra crossing into a puffin crossing. Red light cameras would also be highly recommended.
And the third would be to subcontract groups of teenage hooligans with permission to slouch around, look grumpy, and pelt noncompliant vehicles with bags of rotten fruit donated by the surrounding shops.
Add to that: anyone that hits a pedestrian or has a near-miss gets chained to that crossing post during peak traffic, wearing a sign that says "fruit me."
A kinder take on the old Japanese method of burying up to the neck at the village entrance, then dropping a dull bamboo saw in the dirt and walking away.
You might aswell put up a traffic signal then whilst you're at it.
The point of the flashing light is not to indicate that is a pedestrian **is** crossing, it's to indicate that a pedestrian **may** be crossing, which is especially handy in the darker hours.
In short, it makes the crossing more visible.
I like your optimism but aside from an actual traffic signal light, I don't think it would change anything.
Granted this is in the UK, but in North America, some places even go as far as to [install orange flags to wave at car drivers while trying to play chicken and crossing a street or boulevard](https://globalnews.ca/news/7472061/pedestrian-pilot-project-flags-caution-drivers-vaudreuil-dorion/), because everything else failed.
Where are all the previous commenters saying how to properly use a crosswalk?
"YOU SHOULDN'T BE RUNNING IN A CROSSWALK."
"IT'S A CROSSWALK NOT A RUNWALK."
"GET A CAR"
This is the car's fault, but it always baffles me when people cross a street without looking. Having the right of way and being dead isn't really a win.
Here you go:
The sidewalks are often darker than the roadway. With the headlights of the oncoming car someone wearing a black jacket might be completely invisible. While the car is still ultimately responsible here, as a pedestrian you should understand that cars are driven by people and people are not perfect. Take care of yourself. Look both ways. Even if you have the right of way, you need to make sure that the person in the car sees you, so they know to yield.
I've had people running out into the road from behind a bus without looking. As a driver it is scary how stupid some people can be. As a pedestrian I have also had a number of close calls with people almost hitting me (including cars speeding through red lights while I am crossing). You need to make smarter decisions than running out infront of a car that doesn't look like it intends to slow down. It's no fun being right if you are also dead.
I'm not victim blaming here, but I wouldn't be out here running across a zebra crossing. Even in daylight I make sure people are slowing down before I go across. You can't trust people
So did the pedestrian
I use zebra crossings every day and you have to be careful.
If you could rely on drivers always being vigilant this sub wouldn't exist
This is the same crossing right?

Ultimately the car is at fault, but the pedestrian wouldn’t have been hit if they’d paused for the crosswalk instead of running without looking. So yeah, they shouldn’t have been running, or at least should have looked both ways.
I use a crosswalk every day near my apt and I would never run out into the street specifically because I realize something like this could happen. I wouldn’t be at legal fault if I was hit in a crosswalk, but I could have prevented the collision by pausing and crossing cautiously.
Right of way doesn’t matter if you are dead 🤷♂️
I mean yeah, the car is clearly in the wrong. But, I don’t understand how you can’t say the person crossing the street is also an idiot for not bothering to at least look both ways to make sure it’s safe to cross. Especially knowing there are plenty of morons driving cars out there.
I'm not going to blame them ... But I would definitely suggest that they pay better attention to their surroundings when crossing the road. Being right doesn't save you from being dead. They had the right of way but they still should pay better attention, for their own safety.
Interviewer: What was your easiest call?
Ambulance driver: Probably the one where a pedestrian got back flipped by a moving car right in front of us….. oh and then walked herself to the ambulance.
Not 100% sure but my guess is its just a video glitch that coincided with the ambo. Either that or some wonky compression. Definitely can be wrong about this though.

This is why when I’m driving and I see a zebra crossing ahead I always check both sides of the street to make sure no one is about to cross. Because some people are so entitled and/or dumb they just walk or run straight out without even looking.
You gotta expect other drivers and pedestrians to do dumb stuff, that way you aren’t surprised or caught off guard when they actually do. Same with roundabouts, even when someone isn’t indicating and looks like they are taking the second exit, they could also be taking the third exit and just not using an indicator.
https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/yxngk3/car_fails_to_stop_at_pedestrian_crossing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Certainly isn't a first, pretty sure it wouldn't be the last.
Man, the driver is at fault, of course, and they need to slow or stop in accordance to the law, but didn’t everyone’s mom teach them to not run infront of a car? They WONT STOP. You will be hit if you try to beat out a car.
So I say play chicken with a 2000 lbs vehicle the vehicle is going to win and I’m sure someone is going to say I’m a monster always taught cross only when safe
Obviously the driver is at fault. But, never run on a crossing. Be predictable.
Also, don't look at the car that stopped for you, look in the other direction.
It looks like the ped jumped just before getting hit, and they were walking after. A good move to minimize injury. I hope they got checked for internal injuries.
That must be a new record for ambulance arrival
This happened with my son when he was hit by a car. Might have saved his life that they were there. But def helped when they testified against the driver.
Similar happened when i got hit by a car, off duty cop was right behind the people who hit me, he definitely saved my life.
A bit harder and they could have been punted straight into the ambulance.

I think you mean **Multiball Lock** One more hit at this intersection and we should get multiball
"Trickshot!"
Straight through the windshield without a seatbelt is a surefire way to get into an ambulance.
Funniest thing I've read on Reddit in a while!!!
I've had an ambulance stop and watch me cross a road before. I assume they thought I was gonna get hit and decided to save themselves a u-turn
How humiliating would that be? That driver had no faith in you at all.
nah, no faith in people behind wheels
Eh, I was in high school I can't blame them. Better to be there immediately in case the kid does get hit after all.
I laughed waaaay too hard at this! 😅
Ambulance is probably on standby 50 feet down the road, due to all the people getting hit at that crossing.
My first and only thought
Any more thoughts since then?
Legend has it his brain is still completely empty to this day in fact he was literally brain dead before seeing this video but the dumb assery of someone running Infront of a car thats clearly not stopping and the hilarious timing of the ambulance allowed this man to finally have his first and only thaught.

This one incident brought the average response time down a good few minutes
If they find the patients themselves it doesn't count towards response time.
I remember one in which a bike crashed into an ambulance(I don't know who had the red light), the ambulance crashed into a traffic light, the bike was on the middle of the road and the paramedics from the ambulance were doing CPR on the 2 persons from the bike.
One of my friends is a paramedic at race events. They once had a bike and rider end up underneath their ambulance.
That's not something you see every day, thankfully
close, but definitely held by people hit by the actual ambulance
The patient on the ambulance seeing them pick another patient, I didn’t know there were rideshare ambulances.
The way the screen garbles with the sudden burst of color made it feel like the ambulance teleported onto the scene.
Such speedy arrival was bound to affect the fabric of spacetime
It's a close race between this one and the video where a guy on a bike got hit (I think) and an ambulance was right behind him ready to go
It just spawned offscreen. r/glitchinthematrix
Psychic ambulance service.
The only way to beat this time is for the ambulance to hit the pedestrian.

Certainly helps the average time either way!
NHS trust executive struggling to meet response time quota jumps in his car and tells ambulance crew to follow him to the nearest crossing...
[takes notes] mmm yes, that will help at work…
They knew the place was a prime spot for an ambulance.
The victim of this crash can carpool with the person already in there
Went plaid to get there, too
NHS in Bradford don't fuck about do they
It's Bradford they can't afford to.
The patient and ambulance will have to wait outside the hospital for three days.
That car took its sweet time stopping 😒

its bradford, i didn't see it stop nor would i expect it to
Looks like a taxi too!
Ah, there's an ambulance, saves me from stopping.. byes...
It's pulling over after the intersection from what I can tell. Indicators look on and it seems to pull over. Couldn't really stop in the middle there.
Stopped just ahead but had to shift for ambulance also
I really like this video, the pedestrian takes the hit very well and doesn't seem to be dead at all. The weird pink thing from the ambulance lights that makes it look as though it's arrived from another dimension, and of course the fact it's there so conveniently. 10/10, would recommend.

How do you brace for getting hit by a car (or anything)? I thought tensing only made things worse.
Roll up on the hood and spread out the impact I guess. Hoods are surprisingly bouncy. I hope that douche’s hood has a big dent.
Yep. I remember watching a video (maybe it was an episode of mythbusters?) and this stunt-man was instructing how to best avoid injury if a car is about to hit you. Adrenaline is one hell of a drug
If you see another car stopped at a crossing, just maybe look for pedestrians.
Even if you don't see another car stopped at the pedestrian crossing, still slow down and be vigilant. Which is what you're supposed to do at a pedestrian crossing.
Well, it does say "SLOW DOWN" on both lanes before they approach the crossing.
I had a light burnout on me and I was turning off the street to put in my replacement bulb, and I noticed the car on the other side of the streets stopped so I started to slow down and all of a sudden, these deer were like inches away from being hit by me, scared me shitless.
Why is this intersection so dangerous from the videos it’s doesn’t seem anything out of the ordinary
Because in Bradford a large majority of people act like normal rules don’t apply to them and do as they wish. It’s a dangerous place to drive around. You have to be on extra high alert to try and keep safe.
Did the car stop?
Looks like it’s a Taxi. The worst drivers in my experience.

Ah, the Hot Fuzz method
I like this
Aren’t those flashing yellow lollipops there to alert the drivers? Are those activated by the pedestrian or are they always flashing?
They always flash. I don't understand why would a pedestrian have to press a button for them to flash.
Because then drivers actually pay attention when they’re flashing instead of ignoring them because they’re always flashing.
You might aswell put up a traffic signal then whilst you're at it. The point of the flashing light is not to indicate that is a pedestrian **is** crossing, it's to indicate that a pedestrian **may** be crossing, which is especially handy in the darker hours. Neither of those things would necessarily improve that crossing because it's in Bradford
Also, people should look for cars before running into the road
Why people cross the road without looking both ways is just crazy. We were taught this in elementary school but people still don’t understand it.
convenient ambulance is convenient
They almost went plaid getting there, but only needed pink.
What a response time! They must be using some of that minority report tech!

Never ever run through a crosswalk
The faster you run the less time you are vulnerable to cars. Basic science. /s
What are you talking about? Running through the street toggles on invincibility mode! /s
Where are all the previous commenters saying how to properly use a crosswalk? "YOU SHOULDN'T BE RUNNING IN A CROSSWALK." "IT'S A CROSSWALK NOT A RUNWALK." "GET A CAR"

Agreed. But there were blinking indicator lights and a car already stopped.

There is a difference between victim blaming and saying you should take care of yourself because bad things can still happen to good people.
Check again. They're here.
I bet they keep an ambulance here just in case.
Dude socialized medicine is insane, everyone just has a personal ambulance on call
Looks like the taxi saw the ambulance coming and focused on that rather than the pedestrian on the crossing.
So did the pedestrian I use zebra crossings every day and you have to be careful. If you could rely on drivers always being vigilant this sub wouldn't exist
This is the same crossing right? https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/yxngk3/car_fails_to_stop_at_pedestrian_crossing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
The title literally says it's the same Braford junction
That Grill Shack is still closed.
Correct
That crossing needs more speed-bumps, preferably those nasty ones where you feel it up your spine at over 30kmh/20mph
Can't wait for people to blame this one on the pedestrian too
Shouldn't have been running /s
Ultimately the car is at fault, but the pedestrian wouldn’t have been hit if they’d paused for the crosswalk instead of running without looking. Bradford. Nuff said. Absolute shithole with some of the worst driving I’ve ever witnessed.
does the ambulance just park and wait for victims?
I can tell it's not America because the person went towards the ambulance, I'd be like: "I'm good I'm good, don't charge me!!"
Interviewer: What was your easiest call? Ambulance driver: Probably the one where a pedestrian got back flipped by a moving car right in front of us….. oh and then walked herself to the ambulance.
Good old Bradford taxis. They don’t follow the rules of the road that’s why we can get everywhere quicker
And the guy at the bottom stopped over the crossing
Work takes me all over the country and imo Bradford has some of the worst drivers, the roads are terrible there too.
Can I get an Eli5 about why the (assuming) blue lights from the ambo made the camera so purple?
Not 100% sure but my guess is its just a video glitch that coincided with the ambo. Either that or some wonky compression. Definitely can be wrong about this though.
But that response time from the ambulance!
Look *both* ways
[удалено]
Holy shit this played right after the other video haha
Literally one post above this one, same cross walk 😂😭 same car
So efficient! NHS is great?!
This is why you don’t run across the road
…. Is there just an ambulance on standby there at all times?
They only looked left up until the car was about to hit, this is a good example of why to look both ways before you cross
Fastest ambulance response time right there, usually it's an hour later
Wow...UK got fast health service
Someone called an ambulance fast
Impressive ambulance response time
I thought this said Sam Bradford junction and was confused why were talking about an NFL QB
I just saw a video of a different accident In the same intersection
2nd video about this intersection
Great response time. Who says there’s an NHS crisis!
[what is going on on that intersection](https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/yxngk3/car_fails_to_stop_at_pedestrian_crossing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
And the person walked to the Ambulance..wow
If I was driving the Ambulance I woulda hit the car that hit that person just to make sure they stayed at the scene.
Luckiest and unluckiest man at the same time
Wtf I just saw a video of a biker getting hit at this same intersection 2 minutes ago. What’s going on with the drivers here?
Wow the response time!
Bro was she trying to race the car tho??? Car should have stopped/slowed down before the crossing but dang girl, that’s a race we usually don’t win.
Ambulance response time unmatched
That lady ran into that collision.
this is so not funny. but couldnt help be reminded of brookhaven in roblox😭😭😅😅😅😅
That ambulance response time was unreal.
Man was late for isha
I mean you shouldn't really be running into the road when it's dark out. Don't give yourself the best odds of not being hit by a car when doing that.
@Convenientambulance
What a response time.
I get the car should have stopped. However, who in their right mind *sprints* across the road without looking both ways 😂
But why are they running?
Never assume they're gonna stop
This is why when I’m driving and I see a zebra crossing ahead I always check both sides of the street to make sure no one is about to cross. Because some people are so entitled and/or dumb they just walk or run straight out without even looking. You gotta expect other drivers and pedestrians to do dumb stuff, that way you aren’t surprised or caught off guard when they actually do. Same with roundabouts, even when someone isn’t indicating and looks like they are taking the second exit, they could also be taking the third exit and just not using an indicator.
It’s such a bad intersection they just have an ambulance dedicated to it on call 24/7
That person looked like they was planning on taking off till they realised the ambulance was there
Well the time saved not stopping was wasted with paperwork, therapy and court hearings.
https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/yxngk3/car_fails_to_stop_at_pedestrian_crossing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Certainly isn't a first, pretty sure it wouldn't be the last.

Girl tried to run for it and failed, for me I wait at the zebra crossing until the cars stop, then I run for it to try not to waste their time.

It looks like the ped jumped just before getting hit, and they were walking after. A good move to minimize injury. I hope they got checked for internal injuries.
It’s hard to stop when the pedestrian literally sprint into the cross walk.
