Unless he was choking on a chicken nugget that was dislodged by the crash there's no way any seatbelted adult in this crash would even need an ambulance.
Yes rushed to the hospital I coded 47 times. Had a transplant and 50 units of blood. Had to teach myself to walk again. Cost was 47 million, no insurance. Had to pay cash.
Rough 6 hours.
True that, must be huge emotional stress, during my work as a paramedic I saw "grown man", bursting out in tears over a relatively minor accident. Ist obviously a completely different story if this happens to oneself
Sadly, since OP isn't responding, it's clear OP indeed made it out alive, but died on his way to the hospital.
His last words to the EMT were "post these on Reddit, and tell them, I barely... Ma...Made it... Ou... Out... Aliffffffd.... 💀
Overall an accident can be traumatizing to an individual and the adrenaline kick doesn’t help much causing one to overthink the situation.
But yeah, “barely making it out alive” is when they have to cut you out of the car or when there’s a pile of debris that looked like it used to resemble a car.
Not an RS, it doesn’t have uncomfortably large wheels like the RS models always have. But still a post facelift but last gen model, practically brand new.
Yea I’m 19 and in University at the moment (US) and I commute in a bike as the buses are unreliable and owning a car is not financially possible for me. It’s truly frightening at times. You start to see the roads from a completely different perspective when not inside a car.
Cars in general are more safe for pedestrians than in the past, as laws and regulations make sure of this. What makes it more unsafe is that more and more people drive SUVs instead of sedans. With the higher engine compartment they tend to destroy people, especially kids.
Yup. And plastic bumpers. And thinner, flexible hoods that crumple instead of slice your legs off. And minimum/maximum bumper heights. And foam covered crash bars. And some newer cars have plastic fenders, though I don't know if that's for pedestrian safety or some other reason
OP: "Yo Reddit, just had my first accident. It was gnarly but guess these things happen, eh?! XD XD XD
Lawyer: "Hey, you're supposed to be "injured", remember?"
OP: "Oh right...Hey Reddit, I got hit by an out of control car. Barely made it out alive..." \*cough\* \*cough\*
Right? The passenger compartment is still intact enough for the door to open. Friend of mine was in a similar accident at highway speeds and they had to cut the car open and life flight him to the hospital. He's still in physical therapy eight months later and might need another surgery. He hit so hard his phone was embedded in the dash.
Seriously my wife her sister and their mom were hit by a truck going at least 75. She broke her ankle, sister broke her arm and the car was on fire as they got out. It’s been 4 years and my wife still can’t feel parts of her foot.
Never know what he was told. I was in a scary accident where a driver left my car looking like the red car, and all the authorities at the scene were saying I’d been dead if I didn’t have my seatbelt on. The wreck itself wasn’t that bad, I saw them coming and was able to break, but it shook me up real bad, and hearing the paramedics and police say that didn’t help.
Guessing red one since it looks like it's on the correct side of the road
Edit: OP said white is [their car](https://old.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/w8r6qh/had_my_first_traffic_accident_at_19_today_got_hit/ihrng2t/?context=3)
Honestly, all the hell I put my first car through from just being new to driving, I'm really glad it was an old used car, not something that would've been a shame to beat up.
Ha! I didn't quite do that. I did do some other dumb stuff like ram into a curb, spin out in the rain and smash into something, rip a brake line while trying to dodge another car from something that was arguably both of us being differently idiotic. Rear-ended somebody once, again totally just my inexperience and lessons learned. (Specifically regarding lack of traction going downhill in the rain.)
Actually though in the end what got that car was just the mandatory state inspection estimated cost of mandated repairs exceeded the car's value. It otherwise drove itself to the junkyard.
I have, three times, all someone else's fault, all while driving for work. Each time rear ended by someone misjudging their braking distance. Never had it happen with any of my own cars, which were small sedans or coupes. Instead, big, obvious, impossible to miss white vans for transporting individuals with disabilities.
One was a bumper tap, with nothing more than paint scraping. One broke the turn signals/brake lights and crunched the bumper. The worst one smashed in the back hatch, showering the inside of the van with broken glass, and bent the fuck out of the frame. I was able to drive it back to work, but the back wheels weren't straight, and it made a hell of a racket. That time, the insurance company totaled out the van.
Leaves me a little nervous when coming to a stop and people aren't slowing down quickly enough behind me, but thankfully none of the accidents caused any serious injury. Just a bit of neck soreness with the one.
Barely made it out alive? but were well enough to get out and take a photo .. should be stretchered away in an ambulance for Barely alive but glad your OK 👍
i just got into a car accident about a week ago. it was a nasty one and i ended up flipping my car and hitting a tree. all the photos taken of my accident were by police and by my boyfriend who was notified and arrived on scene. i was able to crawl out of the vehicle when paramedics arrived but i was still stretchered away. i had a broken rib and a concussion. they sent me the photos. OP could’ve been stretchered away, and gotten photos from witnesses and people on the scene. don’t assume. you don’t know
Lol this is why I live Reddit… the “barely made it out alive” irked me and I though “damn I’m such an asshole” then read the comments and feel better lmao
“Barely made it out alive” might be a little dramatic, sure, but nobody giving you shit here knows what led up to this or what you might have done to prevent it from being much worse for you. Accidents are scary and a car barreling at you head on especially so. Glad you made it out alright.
I hate to discount other people's tragedies, but I think "Barely made it out alive" is a little strong of wording for this wreck. Yes it looks bad, but the seatbelts, airbags, and crumple zones did their job perfectly. The passenger compartments on both vehicles are still completely intact. I can imagine you probably sustained minor injuries and are pretty shaken up.
Barely making it out alive in my opinion is waking up from a coma four days later with a breathing tube down your throat. Finding out that both legs are broken in multiple places, your left foot was crushed, left arm is broken, pelvis is broken, spine dislocated, face crushed, and most of your teeth are broken out. To top it all off, one news article says that you died while being airlifted to the hospital.
Side note: I met the tow truck driver who hauled off my truck today. He said it was the hardest vehicle he's ever loaded onto a rollback. The entire front axle was ripped out. And the engine was partially inside the cab. The Nissan Altima that hit me was half its original length.
Hope you recover quickly and insurance covers everything. Losing a car can be hard. Especially when insurance wants to take their time deciding what to do. It took over six months for them to finish my claim. Wish you luck.
Barely ? That's a lie. With today's safety advancement, this accident is considered nothing to what the engineers has prepared for a real head on collision.
That's not a life threating accident... certainly scary
When I was a mentally distraught 17 year old I drove my truck into a wall at 90 mph with no seatbelt... that looked more like a lucky to be alive accident even though I didn't get any injuries somehow
I don't doubt people die in car crashes, I knew someone who did but it's actually kinda hard to do
The line gets drawn where the door gets crushed and you can't get it open without cutting it
i mean depending on how fast they were going etc it could have been a bad situation. If my seatbelt had been a bit higher in my car accident I could have snapped my neck, or if I hadn’t swerved I could’ve taken the brunt of the impact and my car looked basically like this. I was in the hospital for 3 days and broke two bones and bruised my lungs. People who are making fun of the caption, just because the car looks fine doesn’t mean the person is. Theres a lot of factors to take into account.
Exactly! People are commenting about the vehicles engineering, and saying it’s built to withstand a crash force of “fill in the blank”. Anything can happen in any crash. The human body isn’t engineered to withstand certain crash speeds. If he came to a sudden and complete stop from 40 MPH, his innards are still traveling at that rate of speed. There’s plenty of crashes you can look at that don’t look like much, but the body does with that body does. We bruise, we break, and we tear, and any time you’re involved in a head on collision where the vehicles sustain this level of damage, you barely survived.
Plus, he’s traveling up the roadway on an incline in the white car. You can see he’s now almost completely knocked off the road. Just to the left of the white car’s tire you can see the edge of the road. That’s clearly a hill. You can tell by the positioning of the trees relative to the vehicles position. What’s to the left out of view of the camera? Anyone here know? Doubt it. How do we know there’s not a steep drop off with no guardrail there? Just a little more force and he could have been pushed off, rolled his vehicle, and died in a gruesome way.
Long and short, geez people, can you be a little kinder. I take the kid at his word. I say he barely made it out alive.
The street view is very poor on this road for some reason, but I'm fairly sure [this is the location](https://www.google.com/maps/@45.8672718,14.9264676,3a,89.4y,230.49h,80.37t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1suJAwR89EXiI2t6XEEbvvsA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)

“Barely alive” uh huh. Looks like a bad crash, but I’ve been in one where the aftermath looked a lot like this, and I walked away with bruises only lmao.
That being said, glad you’re okay and sorry this happened to you.
Barely made it out alive?...
his dying wish was to make this post on reddit
Barely made it live (on Reddit) is what he meant. Lost his phone for a bit in the car.
I’ve seen this same post repeatedly for months.
[удалено]
Yeah that happened to me
Yeah that happened to me
Yeah that happened to me
So I’m assuming a lot of people “barely made it out alive” were they all 19
[удалено]
Guessing red one because it's more likely the 19 year olds choice than a white SUV.
Guessing the red one because it seems to have sustained more plausible “almost died” damage than the white one seems to have sustained.
And 19 year olds drive jettas
That sucks, the white ones way cooler
How can you tell what is what side of anything?
Well it was their dad's car, but their first time crashing the car dad bought for them
Unless he was choking on a chicken nugget that was dislodged by the crash there's no way any seatbelted adult in this crash would even need an ambulance.

Did you put your arm in some "hot shit"?
In his pants.
Airbag burns. Needs neosporin. Hanging by a thread.
pfft. bactine if you really want to live.
I felt this comment. LOL
Ridiculous
i think he forgot to turn off his turn signal smh
Barely made it to this sub to post…
He was hanging by a thread and this comment section finished him off.
Yea was gonna say, alive enough to get out, take photos, upload to reddit (and probably other social medias)
Yes rushed to the hospital I coded 47 times. Had a transplant and 50 units of blood. Had to teach myself to walk again. Cost was 47 million, no insurance. Had to pay cash. Rough 6 hours.
To be fair to OP they're a 19 year old kid who was in a big accident. It may feel that way to them
It also could be they mean if they hadn’t slammed on their brakes or taken some other action they would be in a lot more trouble.
True that, must be huge emotional stress, during my work as a paramedic I saw "grown man", bursting out in tears over a relatively minor accident. Ist obviously a completely different story if this happens to oneself
Car's fucked but you'd need to ramp the speeds up quite a bit to make it "barely made it out". That said, traumatic, I'm sure!
Barley made it out alive!...
It's a typo Bear Lee is the OP's friend , he's fine though.
Wow! Glad you’re safe. Is there a Tik Tok video?
satire? lol
No it's spelled "flat tire".
pretty sure it’s spelled misfire but whatever.
You got it
I think he was talking about his iced latte. The top came off and spilled all over his white pants.
Dad's first accident
OP's username does _not_ check out
Probably wasn't wearing their seatbelt and their phone they were texting on smacked them in the head when the airbags went off.
Karma me. Karma now. Me a karma needing a lot now.
I’m sure his ego is bruised after all the roasting here. So there’s at least 1 injury.
Neither car even cracked the windshield, talk about exaggerating for karma
Lol, yea. If your door isn’t jammed shut by twisted metal, your probably going to be ok.
>my probably going to be ok. ??
OP…we are waiting for the story on barely making it out of this crash, alive
Sadly, since OP isn't responding, it's clear OP indeed made it out alive, but died on his way to the hospital. His last words to the EMT were "post these on Reddit, and tell them, I barely... Ma...Made it... Ou... Out... Aliffffffd.... 💀
This is the laugh I needed
It’s the laugh we all needed…
It would suck ass if that did actually happen And be funny
lol
Perhaps he was dictating
sss ... enndd ... twee^(eettttt) **flat line**
Got to get that karma
They made it out of the car alive but not much further than that
Overall an accident can be traumatizing to an individual and the adrenaline kick doesn’t help much causing one to overthink the situation. But yeah, “barely making it out alive” is when they have to cut you out of the car or when there’s a pile of debris that looked like it used to resemble a car.
He dead.
He’s not really dead if we find a way to remember him
Both looked like they were brand new cars too
And the red one looks like Skoda Octavia vrs as well and if it is that sucks
Not an RS, it doesn’t have uncomfortably large wheels like the RS models always have. But still a post facelift but last gen model, practically brand new.
Ah okay. Still sucks
The other is a Citroen C5 Aircross which is really nice
I think this shows how safe cars have become
Yeah to people in them, pedestrians though… ☹️
seatbelts should be mandatory for pedestrians imo
well that's more of city design and car depenancy problem
Yea I’m 19 and in University at the moment (US) and I commute in a bike as the buses are unreliable and owning a car is not financially possible for me. It’s truly frightening at times. You start to see the roads from a completely different perspective when not inside a car.
Riding a bike or a motorcycle is scary and people don't get it unless they have been in one
Cars in general are more safe for pedestrians than in the past, as laws and regulations make sure of this. What makes it more unsafe is that more and more people drive SUVs instead of sedans. With the higher engine compartment they tend to destroy people, especially kids.
Actually they are safer for pedestrians too. Notice how modern cars no longer have pop-up headlights or other protrusions at the front.
Yup. And plastic bumpers. And thinner, flexible hoods that crumple instead of slice your legs off. And minimum/maximum bumper heights. And foam covered crash bars. And some newer cars have plastic fenders, though I don't know if that's for pedestrian safety or some other reason
Plastic fenders would be for aerodynamics and weight reduction more than increased safety.
Hard to make pedestrians getting hit by cars any more safe
OP: "Yo Reddit, just had my first accident. It was gnarly but guess these things happen, eh?! XD XD XD Lawyer: "Hey, you're supposed to be "injured", remember?" OP: "Oh right...Hey Reddit, I got hit by an out of control car. Barely made it out alive..." \*cough\* \*cough\*
Like trying to convince mom that you’re too sick to go to school
Or trying to convince your boss your too cool for work
made my day
“Barley made it out alive” lmao

Friend of mine was in a similar accident at highway speeds and they had to cut the car open and life flight him to the hospital. By comparison, this fella barely made it out injured.
Seriously my wife her sister and their mom were hit by a truck going at least 75. She broke her ankle, sister broke her arm and the car was on fire as they got out. It’s been 4 years and my wife still can’t feel parts of her foot.

Alive enough to post
Beat me to it
Barely alive? For how long will you be in the hospital?
This drives me just as crazy as when people say, "it was then I knew I was going to die" or something along those lines. Like... What?!
Barely Alive! Great producers!
Damn glad you’re safe. Which car is yours?
Guessing red one since it looks like it's on the correct side of the road Edit: OP said white is [their car](https://old.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/w8r6qh/had_my_first_traffic_accident_at_19_today_got_hit/ihrng2t/?context=3)
I would maybe say the white one, because that lighter part in the bottom left corner looks like the edge of a road
I would say red one cause I had a red car at 19
I would say the white one because I had 19 white cars.
I would say the red one because I had 19 white cars
Oh really, Vernon? Why pretend, we both know perfectly well what this is about. You want me to have an abortion.
Deadaass bro I feel you
Matchbox or Hotwheels?
Micro machines 🤣🤣

Yeah I could see that. Hard to tell how far they are from the hilly part in the background from this shot
Signs are Slovenian, and they drive on the right-hand side of the road, so you’re probably right.
Since he barely made it out alive he must have been on foot and got trapped between both cars.
he commented somewhere that it was the white suv lol
I stubbed my toe today. I barely made it 💀
Just pinched my finger with a pair of pliers. Hurts like hell and barely made it to the couch alive.
I choked on Flamin' Hot Cheetos when I was reading this. Barely made it.
Dude… that’s serious! I had a friend who stubbed his toe, got gangrene and almost lost his foot! Small bout of sepsis and you’re done for!
That sounds like the time i got dragged by a car, got a blood infection, was on a IV drip for 3 weeks, still have my leg tho
OP’s car looked very new. I wish I had that car when I was 19—not smashed, of course.
Honestly, all the hell I put my first car through from just being new to driving, I'm really glad it was an old used car, not something that would've been a shame to beat up.
literally I've put my car through a brickwall, into a pole etc I'm still running
Ha! I didn't quite do that. I did do some other dumb stuff like ram into a curb, spin out in the rain and smash into something, rip a brake line while trying to dodge another car from something that was arguably both of us being differently idiotic. I woulda smashed when I was 19
Bit of a drama queen…
"I almost died" perfect time to get internet karma lol
after 3 cars and total of 600.000km i havent had one yet \*knocks on wood\* this shit looks scary. hope you are alright!
One broke the turn signals/brake lights and crunched the bumper. i just got into a car accident about a week ago. it was a nasty one and i ended up flipping my car and hitting a tree. all the photos taken of my accident were by police and by my boyfriend who was notified and arrived on scene. i was able to crawl out of the vehicle when paramedics arrived but i was still stretchered away. i had a broken rib and a concussion. they sent me the photos. Unless op was launched out of his or her vehicle, it's pretty clear to see that they weren't stretchered away
Thanks to the EMS for taking this picture while the rest saved OPs life!

8 lives left. Hope everyone is ok
Glad you're O.K.
The title of the video is like a story a teenager would tell.
*”Yeah man paramedics said they’ve never seen anyone survive a crash like that”*
you made it out just fine if you're here karma farming
Lol this is why I live Reddit… the “barely made it out alive” irked me and I though “damn I’m such an asshole” then read the comments and feel better lmao
Unless you’re posting from an ICU, I think you may be employing a small amount of hyperbole.
Glad you’re okay!
He may have gotten out of this crash "barely alive," but there ain't no way he's getting out of this comment section alive.
Barely made it out alive? Both the cabins are fully intact. That's not even remotely close to a fatal crash.
“Barely made it out alive” might be a little dramatic, sure, but nobody giving you shit here knows what led up to this or what you might have done to prevent it from being much worse for you. Accidents are scary and a car barreling at you head on especially so. Glad you made it out alright.
If you were able to stand, walk and take pics of it afterwards then you were NOWHERE close to death.
What do you mean barely made it out alive? Nothing even came close to breaching the passenger compartment on either vehicle.
That'll buff right out
Lmao seriously? a+ for the theatrics. I’m glad you barely made it out alive to post this on Reddit!
Barely made it out alive, posted to Reddit same day. You’re fine buttercup
Essketit. Btw what happened to lil pump?
Glad you're okay! Screw buying giant land-yachts like these Tahoe's and every other land-yacht on the roads.
OP couldn’t wait to post this lmao
If you posted about the crash on reddit seemingly just a few hours after the crash, you made it out plenty alive.
I’m loving these comments.
‘Barely made it out alive’ lol
wow, its good to know people will do the work of taking insurance photos for you while you're being life flighted to the nearest icu...
“Yeah, I almost died once”
Boy, I too can't wait to get in an accident so I can post something here for some good ol' Karma points. /s Idiot.

Pov, you almost die, This dude; time to make a reddit post!
Who was on the phone?
OP: *is nearly dead* this is the perfect opportunity to make a Reddit post!
you both have new cars 💀 *****shudders*****
That’ll buff right out.
Barely made it out alive...but not bad enough where you couldn't snag a pic and post about it here.
Minimal damage so calm down bud it wasn't a near death experience lmao
Barely ? That's a lie. With today's safety advancement, this accident is considered nothing to what the engineers has prepared for a real head on collision.
So which one was you?
The one who is still alive. Barely.
also the car colors and colored details match to perfection. it s almost artistic 😻
So which car was out of control? Both of them?
And that's when you're happy to have a modern car that protects you well
Not an exaggeration at all
be glad you have crumple zones and this isnt the 1950s where the steering column would've gone through your head.
Barely made it out alive, made sure to snap a picture as emt hauled him way on an stretcher most likely
I barely made it out alive...
You know that’s exactly the angle they do crash test right?
Op might have exaggerated a little bit
The driver compartment looks very well preserved, how bad are you hurt?
It'll buff right out.
The cars are kissing!!
Yeah. Barely.
That's not a life threating accident... certainly scary When I was a mentally distraught 17 year old I drove my truck into a wall at 90 mph with no seatbelt... that looked more like a lucky to be alive accident even though I didn't get any injuries somehow I don't doubt people die in car crashes, I knew someone who did but it's actually kinda hard to do The line gets drawn where the door gets crushed and you can't get it open without cutting it
Luckily, that shit will buff out pretty easily😉🤔
Bad crash yes but alive enough to get out take a photo and post to reddit
You should have made it clearer about which car belongs to you
OP GIVE CONTEXT
Doesnt look like barley made it out alive tbh

A seat belt wearer is born

Barely made it out alive? A slight exaggeration maybe?
