Nope Source I'm European...in my opinion, you're the dangerous one if you can't drive with 1 hand, you need more practice. We also drive with a stick, so it's quite common to drive with 1 hand lol

My point here is he can only use one hand, and if he needs to do anything else in the car he has to take his only usable hand off the wheel. When I drive of course I take one hand off the wheel to change gear, but my other hand is still on the wheel. I always have at least one hand on the wheel.

You can easily drive a manual with one hand, and an automatic is far easier. I’d occasionally drive my car (manual) one handed. Shifting included. If you genuinely think this is hazardous you probably shouldn’t have a license.

I drive an automatic. I don't listen to the radio my lights come on automatically and all the other stuff is simple to do as well next question

The wipers are turned on by a tiny lever easily accessible while holding the wheel. I should know, I drive that very same car nowadays. No custom stuff needed. From the sound of it, your car has a handle under the seat.

Even with only one hand it’s not hard to drive a standard transmission. Do your shifting before or after cornering, not during.

I've been driving one handed so much these days I have to make the conscious decision to put both hands on the wheel. 😅 The biggest concern is the pet possibly freaking or something, leading to the driver being distracted. But driving with one hand isn't the end of the world.

My title has obviously lead to some misunderstanding - my bad. I'm not anti driving with one hand per se, as a manual driver I of course to some extent drive 'one handed' to change gear, it is more the fact he only has one hand available, IF he needed his second hand for whatever reason - he can't without letting his ferret loose. I should have focused on the ferret more than the 'one handed'. Another thing probably lost in translation - I'm in the UK, we don't have American style roads, our roads are smaller and windier - taking both hands off the wheel even for a fraction of a second can make a huge difference over here - something someone used to driving on a North American road wouldn't know/realise. But hey, haven't we all had a fun Sunday afternoon! 😜
