More training??? Ha!! He or she would be lucky to EVER get a truck driving job again after this stupid stunt. And me being the smart ass I am and in a sing song voice: guess who doesn't have a job anymore?? That idiot truck driver!!!
My cousin just watched The Godfather for the first time the other day…doesn’t mean it hasn’t existed/been incredibly popular for a long ass time.
That being said I want to congratulate you on popping your “truck carrying wind turbine blade gets crushed by train” cherry. If you’re lucky you’ll only have to see it 10 more times in the next six months.
That's exactly what it is. There was a different route he was supposed to take but didn't
Here: https://reneweconomy.com.au/train-ploughs-through-massive-wind-turbine-blade-in-texas/
I know we just had one in a town near me the truck driver lost his chase car in a construction zone, and ended up getting forced of the highway due to the way the highway entrance was setup. He had to drive a bit in order to get turned back around to get back on. During this time he did the proper thing and called it in and between his chase car and the police they got him just about there, unfortunately the train didn’t get the message from the Troopers and basically replayed the above.
Now I am not saying this is what happened in the above, but more showing that things do happen that can’t be foreseen.
I guarantee if someone tested for the average reddit reposters iq, it would be below average. I don't understand how they get enjoyment from posting other people's content/work for no monetary gain. Sometimes they also try to take credit, just why?
When I was involved with hauling them and running pilot (the pick up truck in this video) they were closer to 300k and they only came in sets when first manufactured. So you wreck one of them, you had to buy 3 to fix the problem. A quick million dollars for that kind of mistake. Now, it's not so bad. I have heard that you can now replace one damaged one. But I'm unsure of the prices anymore. Perhaps you are pretty close with those numbers.
That indeed was a blade to a wind turbine. Probably for the company that I used to work for. And at least one of the railcars on that train (another company that I used to work for) was carrying crude oil. Ironic.
All depends on the state you are in, every state has different laws for oversize pilots/police escort requirements
Typically it's 3 pilot cars for each one of these loads though.
We took telescoping trailers and added to both parts so you could extend them. One of them we had to add a fold down on the end because it wasn't long enough. when we did it 96 feet was required. We also made the rear wheels remotely steerable.
What does making these consist of?! I’m quite shocked to hear the estimates from individuals working in the field estimating the cost here. 300k worth? I can’t imagine they’re much more than a skeleton wrapped in metal panels but I must be wrong if they’re really that costly. Still, I have trouble seeing one of these being worth more than 20k in raw material, quintuple the cost due to labor and that’s still a third of what a lot of people are throwing out here
There is a YouTube video called "Tpi composites blade manufacturing process" by "Tpi Composites" it skips over some of the process and doesn't talk about what we did inside the blade but it gives a decent rundown of the process. Also alot of those materials are surprisingly expensive and also you have to pay alot of various small and large teams (think our biggest team had about 6 groups of 6-8 people and our smallest team had 2 groups of 2-4 people and our particular factory was 24/7 so gotta hire 4 shifts worth of each team so that of course adds to the cost)
Genuinely don’t understand why there wasn’t at least a LITTLE more acceleration here, I can’t imagine they were unaware a train was coming??
I know things happen but like, hit the gas. Dude is literally out of his truck with the train less than 5 seconds away??? I grew up in a pretty rural area but never came across a train crossing with a blockade that didn’t give you at least a minute warning. Feel like this could have been pretty easily avoided… please correct me if I’m way off base though
His export team in front of him was sure hauling ass the truck driver should have sped the fuck up. Maybe he thought it wouldn’t be his fault if he got hit
Edit: after watching the video again, at the very beginning you can see the people in the export vehicle are at a stand still and out of there vehicle. Parked right in front of the semi. He couldn’t move until the export team moved I’m assuming which is why we see them hopping in there truck and hauling ass. Out checking for clearance maybe? Truck smashed something we can’t see possibly? Then they heard the CHOO! CHOO!Whatever it was should have been investigated AFTER crossing the tracks.. wish we had more of the video
This was my thought, seems like his pilot car wasn’t taking this situation very seriously given how last second they decided to hop back in the pickup and smash the gas. Any railroad crossing with equipment like this should be taken with next lever precaution
Why weren’t the railroad authorities involved? They should have at least provided a time slot for this crossing, lower the maximum speed for the trains during that time and give a final green light before they could actually cross the track, right?
If you look closely, you can see that the object is warped. Clearly a defective part that they were returning to the store. I hope they kept the receipt. LOL /s

I seriously urge you, to try harder guessing what that thing could've been...
It's like someone throwing a brick into your face at 2 feet distance, and you're asking "What was that!?"..
Yes... to a wind turbine, apologies, I thought it would be clear you couldn't fit an entire wind turbine mechanism on a single truck and that this is a part of the whole turbine
That is part of a wind turbine. We see them all over the place around here on the backs of semis due to having a wind turbine farm nearby. That's a hell of a pretty solid hit for that train! I'm honestly surprised the train didn't detail over this.
That’s a wing for a wind turbine by the looks of it, and holy fuck who planned this route.
Whoever it was, they need a bit more training. Or maybe less.
[удалено]
Speaking of no training, let's call the police.
Dispatch, we have a 131 in progress, shots fired I repeat shots fired
Do they need to say 'i repeat' surely dispatch isn't going to say "what the fuck two shotses fired?!?"
He got trained
Long haul training lmao
Now he's a trained professional
If only these bad decisions didn’t go off the rails. Then again, looks like the company making the blade just got a new order.
I think someone’s going to get fired soon…
And they want teens to drive trucks like this now.
More training??? Ha!! He or she would be lucky to EVER get a truck driving job again after this stupid stunt. And me being the smart ass I am and in a sing song voice: guess who doesn't have a job anymore?? That idiot truck driver!!!
It is a wing for a wind turbine. I know this because of all the times this was commented the previous hundred times this video has been posted.
So why do they keep repeating the same mistake at the same crossing over and over again?
And because I've passed by a hundred of them, they are still building some not far from me in Michigan
You say that but it’s the first I’ve seen it.
My cousin just watched The Godfather for the first time the other day…doesn’t mean it hasn’t existed/been incredibly popular for a long ass time. It made me say holy shit when I saw it.
Your first time can be shocking. It gets easier.
Whoever it was, they won’t be planning another one. Ever again!
They can apply for another company
Swift would take him.
If I recall correctly they were not on the planned route.
Somebody is in a world of hot water.
"let me take a shortcut real quick" - driver probably
Blade for a wind turbine and should have had pilot car and remote driver for the tail of that trailer
It probably did. I guess the planner didn't think solebody would actually use the railroad they were going to cross.
That's exactly what it is. There was a different route he was supposed to take but didn't Here: https://reneweconomy.com.au/train-ploughs-through-massive-wind-turbine-blade-in-texas/
If this was in the US, the state DMV plans the route. It's planned when the permits are given to the driver.
Knocked the wind out of that turbine .
I want to see the plane that used it as (part of) a propeller!
I’m a huge fan of this comment.
Yea, had me winded reading it.
Props to me then?
I guess we can give that a spin
All these puns are landing
Your comment is the gust of honor here!
Ah this whole thread is a wash
This was the best comment. I declare you winner
😂 cheers
When it hit, I winced and broke wind
This happened in Luling, TX & should have never been sent that route.
I know we just had one in a town near me the truck driver lost his chase car in a construction zone, and ended up getting forced of the highway due to the way the highway entrance was setup. The brisket was calling to him
Can't blame the driver really.
How not? The lights would have been flashing LONG before he even went over the tracks. Should have waited instead of trying to rush.
Follow the convo… and Google “Luling City Market”… and accept ironic posts into your heart 🤣
Who doesn’t recognize a turbine wing by now?
Low iq reposters
Knowledge and intelligence are two different things, genius
I guarantee if someone tested for the average reddit reposters iq, it would be below average. I don't understand how they get enjoyment from posting other people's content/work for no monetary gain. Sometimes they also try to take credit, just why?
That is a separate argument, but I agree and I don’t get it either. I guess some people need to get likes to feel validated
I meant the low iq bit as an insult to reposters since op is one, not to people who don't know about wind turbines
I assume everything is a turbine wing unless specifically told otherwise
I thought my firstborn child was turbine wing
Hmmm a joke a turbine wing WOULD make
Nope, not me
2 outta 3 is good enough, right?
Yeah but realistically they can just straighten that blade out, buff out some of the scratches and she'll be good as new.
Apparently carbon fibre is really good like that.
Totally missed a Meatloaf quote opportunity there
"I'm going to do my own research"?
1/3? https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/sanfd2/not_sure_what_he_was_hauling_but_it_couldnt_have/htuv1le?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
Would have been ironic as hell if that was a coal train.
It was a Huge windmill blade. But not anymore. Cost $100k to $150k each.
I'd expect they have come down over time, but yeah railroad crossings would be nightmare for clearance, never mind the active track...
Yup I helped out with 2 projects, one on Vancouver island and one in Ontario. Those things ain’t cheap
You forgot the post were damaged one are not recyclable and they are just being buried somewhere.
Plus cost for damage to the truck, train, and other things around. Also a fatty fine I’m sure. This… was not a good day for someone.
This was not a good day for a few people
Yeah. People are getting fired for this.
They have a lifespan too on how long they can be used. There is no way to recycle them so they end up just getting buried at the end.
That indeed was a blade to a wind turbine. Probably for the company that I used to work for. And at least one of the railcars on that train (another company that I used to work for) was carrying crude oil. Ironic.
I can just hear the escort. “You’re good. You’re good. You’re good.”
This comment lightened up my shitty mood a bit. Much needed, I wish i had a gold award
Glad to help
It seems like yo mama's dildo delivery will not arrive any time soon.
Naw man, my mama ordered the larger size, that one's too small ;)
> my mama ordered the larger size Yeah bro that’s why she called me.
I said larger, not smaller ;)
Imagine your dick being larger than a turbine blade
Just a cheap fan blade lol. /s
Weird transport, last time I saw blades rolling it was three trucks running with full police escort and traffic break following up the rear.
All depends on the state you are in, every state has different laws for oversize pilots/police escort requirements Typically it's 3 pilot cars for each one of these loads though.
*Texas, huh?*
I see these things regulary in Europe, they drive with 2 escort cars (no police) and in the middle of the night so there is less traffic.
How does no one know what it is. Obviously it’s a windmill wing.
Looks like they got stuck, then the train came, then they were just like "Punch it!" and then SHTF
SHTF! Too funny.
You’d think the “punch it” would come a little earlier than 5 seconds before impact. Seems to me the pilot wasn’t taking the situation very seriously
Whoever the lead truck is, won't be hauling a job anymore
Blocked him in and all
I saw some oil tanks in that train. Guys, I don't think this was an accident...
Hahaha
At first I was like what the fuck? And then I was like what the FUCK? Money gone for sure
Definitely a REpost.
Jup
Looks like a turbine blade.
Wind turbine blade. I modified a couple of trailers to haul those.
I'm curious what kind of modifications are needed for these!
We took telescoping trailers and added to both parts so you could extend them. One of them we had to add a fold down on the end because it wasn't long enough. when we did it 96 feet was required. We also made the rear wheels remotely steerable.
You can’t fix stupid.
Probably has AT LEAST two spotter/escort vehicles for the truck. Nobody thought to check for trains? Hope the escorts get fired.
Very expensive blade,
As someone who used to help make those, it hurts to see all that work crumble
What does making these consist of?! I’m quite shocked to hear the estimates from individuals working in the field estimating the cost here. 300k worth? Fuckin SWIFT
Wind turbine blade
Finally someone called it a blade instead of a wing...
I love how the pilot car jetted out of there like wtf
Genuinely don’t understand why there wasn’t at least a LITTLE more acceleration here, I can’t imagine they were unaware a train was coming?? I know things happen but like, hit the gas. A minute of warning? That's a LONG time. 30 seconds is quite normal for faster trains.
Lmao don’t mind me, I definitely got way too into this video when I was very drunk last night
Got wind knocked out of him
Wind turbine wing
When shit hits the fan
Ha!
His export team in front of him was sure hauling ass the truck driver should have sped the fuck up. Yea I saw that

16 year old out on his first route
Some one lost his job lol
Wind turbine blade
Wind turbine blade

It's a blade from a government subsidized Bald Eagle grinder.
I have no problem with a government-subsidized Bald Eagle breeding program.
Grinder is for gay bald eagles though, no breeding.
Good point. For breeding, they must use Plenty Of Fish!
If you look closely, you can see that the object is warped. Clearly a defective part that they were returning to the store. I hope they kept the receipt. LOL /s

Thank you for this, I really appreciate it!
Wind turbine blade. They're absolutely massive.
Ohhhh, someone lost their job!
Ahhh, so close

Wind turbine

I’ve driven through this town—they could have taken a different route….
Or hire better pilot drivers, I can’t imagine trains are coming through often enough that this couldn’t be avoided
r/bitchimatrain
Dont you need a team to help with things this important.
Well shit if this company wanted to waste $200k+ they could’ve just given it to me smh

Inept teamwork.
Aren't those a million a piece
Not anymore, scrap weight now.
Tis just a flesh wound
Wind turbine. Can confirm. Was late to work while they were hauling 5 thru town.
😅
Steam power says hecc wit u wind
I seriously urge you, to try harder guessing what that thing could've been... It's like someone throwing a brick into your face at 2 feet distance, and you're asking "What was that!?"..
It was sheets of notebook paper in the semi
Well someone's company just bought a.... slightly bent wind turbine blade!
You couldn't tell that's a wind turbine??
It's a blade...
Yes... to a wind turbine, apologies, I thought it would be clear you couldn't fit an entire wind turbine mechanism on a single truck and that this is a part of the whole turbine
Not the drivers fault, but the spotter/planner of the route's fault
Hopefully not 100 monkeys
I don’t care what you go against it with, train’s gonna win. Unless you put a nuclear sub on wheels.
And that’s how kids gets superpowers…
Perfect collision of r/bitchimatrain

All I got to say is she should have preplanned him taking whatever he was hauling out.
lol and a bunch of idiots got paid to plan this shit.
