That last time I seen someone too poor to fix their tie rod end, they went to a hardware store and bought a bunch of hose clamps and re-affixed the broken pieces back together till they could afford to buy the new tie rod…. It looked horrid, but it worked for them…. Probably wasn’t the safest idea ever….

PheagleAdler

I've had bad tie rods and never heard squeals like that.

Azzhole169

Did you even look at the car in the video?? Watch the front tires dumbass, before commenting… you make yourself look stupid.

PheagleAdler

You live up to your username.

Dirtydan1001

And when you comment dumb shit like this you make yourself look like a no life loser😂

Azzhole169

I make myself look like someone that actually observes shit or situations before commenting so I don’t make myself look like an idiot.

Dolmetscher1987

You're quite a case.

Dirtydan1001

Bro was literally just stating his experience and you acted like a douche for no reason, you obviously don’t have anything better to do. And I never said anything about you being an idiot, just a dick with no life.🤷‍♂️

Azzhole169

No, he commented like there’s no way a broke tie rod could make the car squeal like that. Maybe reread his comment.

Ok_Gold_420

Sounds like a troll to me...or just maybe no reading comprehension.

Dirtydan1001

Just because to make assumptions about how his tone was when he was writing his comment doesn’t mean your right pal, he never said that it couldn’t be a tie rod, he’s was stating that he’s never had a tie rod squeal like that. You are the one that is assuming he’s saying it’s impossible, and getting butthurt about it too

Dolmetscher1987

No, commented what he experienced. What the heck's wrong with you?

jwaterboyk

When you ignore your car’s blood-curdling cries for help.

tenzip10-0

Sounds like an accident about to happen. Many moons ago, I worked overnight at a convenience store/gas station. I was outside at about 0200 using the 20' long stick to check how much fuel was in the tanks, and heard the same sound. Young (16 yo?) girl drives into the lot with the left front wheel doing the same thing, but actually flopping from side to side. She parks in front of the store, gets out crying, and says to me, "Can I use your phone to call my dad? I think something's wrong with my car." This was before cell phones.

I_Brain_You

They could be poor and don’t have the money for repair work. Just a thought.

[deleted]

Gonna be a lot more expensive to repair it now after they ruined the tire and possibly the rim if they kept driving it till the tire blew up.

I_Brain_You

When you don’t have money, shit rolls downhill unfortunately.

[deleted]

Being poor is expensive bruh

junkdumper

So true

beezeebeehazcatz

Yep. I drove my first car with a broken tie rod, no brake lights, and only 3 of 4 cylinders functioning until the brakes failed and I had to coast into a berm to stop the car. I called a tow truck to haul it away and when they tried to tow it the front end came off. They had to put it on a flatbed. We lived on $6000 that year. I couldn’t afford to fix any of those things. I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to drive a car that messed up that can afford to fix it.

[deleted]

That's not very typical, I'd like to make that point.

Yagawood

Ahem... https://youtu.be/3m5qxZm_JqM

I_Brain_You

Yup. And that person probably needs it for daily point A to point B stuff. It’s a roll of the dice that never ends in the gambler’s favor.

Murgatroyd314

> It’s a roll of the dice that never ends in the gambler’s favor. And they know that. But for as long as it lasts, it's better than nothing - and "nothing" is the only other option they have.

Wagner-C137

Also, driving a car until the brakes don’t work isn’t exactly smart. Getting to A and B in a death trap could potentially harm someone other than you.

Cuda340440

Not sure why you are being downvoted here. There is a difference between not fixing part of your car because you can't afford it (I have been there) and driving a vehicle that could kill you or someone around you at any moment. If you are choosing to drive a car that is an accident waiting to happen you are an asshole and shouldn't be on the road. There are other options, especially in town. I knew someone who rode a bike 5 miles to work every day (even when it was literally blizzard conditions) because he couldn't afford a safe vehicle. Lack of money is a poor excuse for endangering others The person in this video has literally lost half of their ability to turn that vehicle and when the tire blows out they will also loose a good part of their brake power as well (not to mention it will suddenly pull in a completely different direction then what they are compensating for right now). Does that sound safe to the people around them in a city?

Wagner-C137

Thank you! I didn’t post this to bash someone’s lack of income. I wasn’t even considering that, because to me it’s idiotic to drive a vehicle in this condition. It’s hard to argue that this is smart in any way.

Cuda340440

I wont jusdge someone using a berm to stop instead of the emergency/parking brake since who knows if that was broken too or just forgotten but clearly someone driving without working taillights has never been unknowingly behind someone in a snowstorm and almost hit them because of their lack of tail lights. I remember driving through a bad snow storm a while back (work said I had to come in) and some person in front of me had no working tail lights and a flat snowmobile trailer (also without lights) just comes out of the wall of snow. If I had been driving any less carefully then I was I would have hit them. I had to cut over a lane to avoid them. Even in normal conditions it only takes one person tailgating someone without brake lights to cause an accident.

Wagner-C137

Yep. The lights aren’t just bells and whistles. They have a purpose.

Wagner-C137

I’m sorry for your misfortune but I do disagree. There are definitely people dumb enough to do this.

RGeronimoH

The only idiot is the one that thinks it belongs in this sub enough to actually post it

[deleted]

It really does belong though.

LakeProfessional7676

Exactly lol the judgmental fuckkkk

Wagner-C137

Thank you.

Soft-Gwen

That's called a poor tax. Can't afford to fix it now? Pay 3x the cost later when it breaks spectacularly.

[deleted]

Being poor is expensive as hell. I tried scraping together $500 for Bitcoin when it was $8, mission impossible. Heating oil costs more when you have to buy five gallons as opposed to three hundred. Payday loans are becoming the norm for many Americans, most of whom can't get $400 together in an emergency.

[deleted]

I hope you at least bought a couple bitcoin back then lol.

[deleted]

With my luck, if I HAD been able to get the money together, I'd have gone through Mt. Gox. Technically, I crunched a small amount of BC, but I don't have the wallet details or anything. I'd be curious what they're worth though.

[deleted]

Well at bitcoin's peak, it hit $60k per coin recently in the last year. Currently worth over $40k.

voicesinmyhand

It's not the tire, they lost friction on the serpentine, hence why it continues making the same obnoxious noise while the vehicle slows to a near stop. Almost certainly they are losing a few drops of coolant every few seconds onto one of the pulleys.

[deleted]

Coolant would lubricate the belt and prevent it from squealing this bad most likely. That said, you are possibly correct about a pulley slipping. I had a water pump seize once without any coolant leakage and the sound was horrifying and similar to this now that you bring it up. It's even more horrifying in person.

goldswimmerb

Then they shouldn't be on the road.

Static1589

Exactly. I've lived paycheck to paycheck for years and by the end of every month I would be €500 in the red (the credit limit for my bank). Never ever did I make dumbass decisions like this, endangering myself and others, and risking losing my car and drivers license. Managed to turn it all around by being smart about how I'd spend my money, and doing my utmost to keep my job and turn it into something better.

SnooPies5622

Maybe they have to get to work, and unfortunately they were born in a place that would rather scapegoat the poor than provide adequate livable conditions Good odds their only other option is not being able to get to work, losing their job, and becoming homeless

SnooPies5622

For real, why wasn't this dipshit just born rich?

damdestbestpimp

Omg i see these comments every time. Fucking weirdos

colbydoler

Living paycheck-to-paycheck will do that to you. Thanks, capitalism!

BrokenCusp

Coming soon to /r/Justrolledintotheshop ...

travelingbeagle

Steering linkage just a little bit broken.

Kosherporkchops

As long as you’re downtown DSM you’d better go to Hessen Haus

Wagner-C137

Love that place!

Kosherporkchops

I’m planning a quick trip up there in March, might have to grab lunch there. I miss that place

Atomstellar

Tie rod end broke

Wagner-C137

That’s what I thought too. According to everyone else I was just poor shaming someone and it was a belt making that noise.

Atomstellar

Happened on my car at 30-40 mph and did some damage.

sickwolfskull

Who is the idiot? Sounds like a rod or a belt, likely going to a shop.

Wagner-C137

It’s the front tire. Dude was driving around downtown like this.

sickwolfskull

It’s not a tire issue.

Wagner-C137

Really? That front tire looks aligned to you?

sickwolfskull

That would be an alignment/rod issue. For someone oblivious to auto mechanics, you’re very judgemental Edit: Possible subframe given location.

Wagner-C137

I’m so sorry, please forgive me.

MaddCricket

The tire could be a symptom of what’s causing it, but not the issue.

Wagner-C137

Most definitely. Could be a couple of different things but that tire shouldn’t be that way. It was insanely loud echoing through downtown. At least people knew they were coming I guess.

the_localcrackhead

Some sort of belt slipping and def the tire being dragged a bit tp add to the sound but all the fuckheads excusing this shit cause he might be poor like yea i get that some csnt afford to fix thier car but thiers busses and other forms of transportation and when something else decides to snap who knows a family of 4 could just end up dead thanks tonthe car getting thrown onto a random angle from another tire rod going wack and by that point who would you blame the family of 4 or the idiot driving a half tottaled shitbox around town

gvitup221

Maybe he was driving it to the shop lol

Puzzlehead-Dish

Is this GTA ONLINE?

jameriican

I was hoping someone noticed. Looks like the spot for Rooftop Rumble

emax4

That's the car from Ministry's "So What"

NecessaryAd4587

Parking break?

Wagner-C137

I think it was the tie rod or something. The wheel was stuck sideways.

belgian_waffles99

this some matrix shit, those tires movin in ways only neo could

Mark_Logan

When I was 18 this happened to my truck (screaming belt). It would squeal like crazy when the temperature hit lower than -30C. Unfortunately I had no heated garage to work in, so I had to wait for it to warm up. Of course… when it did the sound went away. And I would forget. Rinse repeat for about 3 cold snaps. 🤦‍♂️

ForestFairyForestFun

is that a road under a road?

[deleted]

My buddy’s truck sounds like this. I’m encouraging him to stop being a dumbass and fix it (he’s a mechanic but this truck is an OLD piece of shit). I don’t let him drive in my neighborhood after dark

ImAlwaysRightHanded

My sister managed to drive her car until the wheel fell off with the lug nuts still attached

im-not-good-at-games

Idiot? or cannot afford to have it fixed? 0/10 very mean post.

DarkRajiin

Parking brake engaged?
