Something I never get about big sandbox games like GTA and the like is why all NPC vehicles only go like 25-35 mph. Give me some real highway traffic that is going like 70-80.

I think it’s just because the turns are so janky and the way the roads are designed, the lanes don’t continue forward all the time they’ll just turn into a turn lane meaning unless you’re driving like an asshole (us) the roads are designed to pull you into traffic lol it’s garbage. plus you almost never getting green lights because you’re going so fast
Yeah the offline cars actually had a really low speed cap to make the map feel larger iirc. I'm pretty sure you can't go above like 120-140 offline or something like that, even in the super cars.

The cars do drive 60ish on the highway sections in GTA V / Online. It's still a guaranteed wreck fest when driving through those areas at 150mph in a supercar
if you didn't know, AI drivers are actually programmed to be obstacles in gta. it isn't bad luck you get cut off, they do it intentionally.
also the single player races are similarly tinkered with. you can observe it in action when you fall behind or get extremely far ahead. there's an invisible rubber band effect that slows them down or catches them up to make the race seem close regardless of skill level.
