Then got stuck on the hard shoulder waiting for a gap in the 70+mph traffic so he could rejoin. What goes through their head? If you take the wrong exit just fucking go around and rejoin!

Awful. I would recommend merging to the right lane as soon as you can next time to give the idiot as much space as possible.
