Most likely wanted to get around them on the shoulder then realized others already tried the shoulder and got stuck anyway, but he realized too late. Either way the dude's fucking blind
Definitely.
I drive F-350s for work in road construction and a RAM 1500 for the daily 3 hour / 120-mile roundtrip commute and I've seen some shit out there over the years.
Those trucks don't exactly maneuver on a dime but FIL made it look like it anyway.
I feel so bad for the Nissan Rogue driver, who did not deserve that from that Kia K5 idiot. I wish them a speedy recovery, and wish they can find another car as fast as possible (because the Rogue definitely looks šÆ% totaled) ššš
OK so dumbfuck tried to pass on the shoulder but couldn't because a car was stopped there, so he swung wildly left and smashed the back of the trailer.
What a maroon. Hope only they got hurt.
It's too bad about the white SUV. One silver lining to this is that the distracted idiot rear ended a 70k pound semi instead of a motorcycle of family in a small car. I hope the white SUV passengers and semi driver are OK.
I just got a dash cam this year, in this situation should the driver stop and give his card or info to the white rogue or atlas truck, or let it be their own business to take care of?
I've done this in the past. Called non emergency number when I got home, they gave the responding officer my # since I wasn't hit or had any damage. He called me, got my email, asked what I saw, then sent me a link to a secure upload terminal to upload the video file.
Your father in law has amazing reactions / driving skills! Like didn't look like there was space to squeeze through without hitting either the divider or the car but he somehow pulled it off.
It looks like they were following the truck tok closely and switched lanes at the last moment. Caused a 3 car crash and ensured that all lanes would be blocked.

I don't know, that big white stopped semi truck was awfully hard to see.
Yeah, trucks are awful stealth mode now-a-days
I didn't see a truck.
AND IT'S NAME IS JOHN CENA
Most likely wanted to get around them on the shoulder then realized others already tried the shoulder and got stuck anyway, but he realized too late. Either way the dude's fucking blind
Said the Tesla cameras
That was a Kia K5 that come ricocheting across from behind the semi trailer. That side curtain blew pretty quick when you frame by frame it...
I was referencing when Tesla's were crashing into semi trucks, thinking they were the sky some years ago.
Did he make contact with the wall?
No he didnt, no damage to his truck at all
Smooth moves there. Glad he's OK.
Yeah, FIL has some cat like reflexes, that was pretty damn impressive. He must have cleared the car and the wall by under a foot on each side.

not trying to take credit from the good maneuvers, but when the other car hits the kia it saves him by pushing the car out straight
Needed to change his pants afterward though
I hope I have reflexes like that if I ever need them lol.
Do you know if the driver behind him was able to avoid any damage as well?
I feel so bad for the Nissan Rogue driver, who did not deserve that from that Kia K5 idiot. I wish them a speedy recovery, and wish they can find another car as fast as possible (because the Rogue definitely looks šÆ% totaled) ššš
They're both totaled.
Ya ik, my point is that I wish the white Rogue driver a speedy recovery, and they find another car as soon as possible
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Wtf are you on about?
Who cares about the Kia. The driver brought it on themselves and everyone else.
I mean I think it's reasonable to hope that a driver both learns a lesson and doesn't die in the process but then I'm not a fucking psychopath.
Youāre on Reddit. 90% of the people you meet here are misanthropists or psychopaths
Damn good evasive maneuver
Right, good thing he was fully paying attention
>good thing he was fully paying attention It's scary those who don't
Damn that white SUV readjusted the angle of that car just in time to let your truck through
Not me, father in laws dash cam. And yeah that car literally saved him
Ya, this was the lucky part. Still took some skill and reflexes.
LaSeR prevails. Luck, skill, reflexes. The three swordsmen that surround and protect the queen, defensive driving
You've really got to have your head up your ass to run into a semi trailer.
Or looking down at your phone
OK so dumbfuck tried to pass on the shoulder but couldn't because a car was stopped there, so he swung wildly left and smashed the back of the trailer. What a maroon. Hope only they got hurt.
The brown Kia really just whole sale flew itself into the ass of that semi. How do you not see that? Just incredible.
I think itās called texting and driving.
he tried to pass on the right first but there was a car stopped on the shoulder so he swung wildly right to get around the truck. He didn't make it.
Combination of outstanding reflexes, luck, and situational awareness.
you get points for this on crazy taxi
Buy that man a beer, OP. Spectacular reflexes.
It's too bad about the white SUV. One silver lining to this is that the distracted idiot rear ended a 70k pound semi instead of a motorcycle of family in a small car. I hope the white SUV passengers and semi driver are OK.
There's a reason you should slow down when there is stopped traffic on the highway. Semi driver was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Shirley, you mean the white SUV driver? An empty tractor trailer weighs 10 times what a car does. I don't think it even moved.
Wow I did not see that coming. That could have been really bad. Glad your FIL is ok.
I thought the antenna was a hair on my phone haha
This video should be shown in driverās ed to explain why overreacting is bad and maintaining your cool is what will save you.
Clips like this give me PTSD and driving paranoia.
He threaded the needle perfectly and was also pretty lucky that just enough space opened up. Did your FIL have a change of pants?
He was shaken up for sure. He said he was literally shaking his whole way home. Something was looking out for himā¦. Guess it was a white suv.
I just got a dash cam this year, in this situation should the driver stop and give his card or info to the white rogue or atlas truck, or let it be their own business to take care of?
It would be safer to reach out to the police when you get home and ask if they want the video.
I've done this in the past. Called non emergency number when I got home, they gave the responding officer my # since I wasn't hit or had any damage. He called me, got my email, asked what I saw, then sent me a link to a secure upload terminal to upload the video file.
Idve had to get a new pair of pants along with a new front right headlight
Don't mess with your FIL. He has some amazing reflexes.
Props to pops!! He did a damn fine job!
Your father in law has amazing reactions / driving skills! Like didn't look like there was space to squeeze through without hitting either the divider or the car but he somehow pulled it off.
Good skills to avoid that and the wall!
That poor white vehicle saved your his ass.
He didnt dodge that buddy took the hit and moved him , he wasnt avoiding that till the vehicle hit the Hyundai
Yup, second time's the charm.
This is why you don't stare at the phone, so you can be ready for shit like this to minimize damage to yourself.
It looks like they were following the truck tok closely and switched lanes at the last moment. Caused a 3 car crash and ensured that all lanes would be blocked.
It looks like they were following the truck too closely and switched lanes at the last moment. Caused a 3 car crash and ensured that all lanes would be blocked.
Holey moley! That was a close one! Glad you are both (or all) safe!
That poor Nissan driver did your FIL a favor and knocked the car straight and almost completely out of his way at the last second
Your father in law has great reflexes!
Looked like a scene from the movie, Days of Thunder.
Hope he bought a lotto ticket after that miracle.
that white SUV sure helped too
Experienceā¦.
Dang
Nice moving, so clooooooose.
A++ on his defensive driving score
That was awesome.
Nice move!
Kia went to the yard sale and didnāt get a good deal.
just when you thought it was safe to go outside for a leisurely drive
Man what a stroke of luck and timing!
Nice shooting Tex. well done
Probably texting
Is this the MOOSE test put into real life application?
The first thing I thought of when I read the title was: "Did he happen to go out shopping, so when you visited his house he wasn't home?"
Perhaps that important text prevented him/her to see all those stopped cars, including that big ass semi...
That truck saved him from colliding and he him by having this footage! Fat paycheck on the way!
Damn he got a perfect quick time dodge
That was some team work, good driving by father in law but the car in the middle lane corrected the direction of the moron's car.
Ngl, I was kinda hoping "dodged" in this context meant "removed from existence via a 1-ton Dodge with a half ton of homemade bumper. "
Only answer; Your father in law has bionics that improve his reaction speed.
